'ClimateGate' Doesn't Show Global Warming Was Faked, AP Reports

LONDON - E-mails stolen from climate scientists show they stonewalled skeptics and discussed hiding data -- but the messages don't support claims that the science of global warming was faked, according to an exhaustive review by The Associated Press.

The 1,073 e-mails examined by the AP show that scientists harbored private doubts, however slight and fleeting, even as they told the world they were certain about climate change. However, the exchanges don't undercut the vast body of evidence showing the world is warming because of man-made greenhouse gas emissions.

Its about time Climategate was debunked

The key statement here is this:

"The exchanges don't undercut the vast body of evidence showing the world is warming because of man-made greenhouse gas emissions."

The mistakes these scientists made were this - the scientists were well aware of the GW skeptics and were concerned that any "holes" in their argument would lead to further attempts at picking apart the GW research. Little did they know that these
email exchanges would lead to the same questions. It does not however - as this article states - undermine the vast quantities of research done around the globe that all points to the human influence.

"vast amounts of data," is a phrase wide open for interpretation.

what vast quantities of research?

The research that shows c02 rose 800 years AFTER temperature?

The research that shows the Earth was warming for 18000 years BEFORE our industrial age?

The research that shows planets WITHOUT people warming too?

Oh wait, you posted an article from the AP, an organization that all of the other MSM get their info from. Their would be no reason for TPTB to control that would there?

How about the research that shows a lot warmer Earth with a lot more CO2 in the past...before people?

I find it interesting that this Huffington Post article is identical to the article that ran the Toronto Sun today though they cited different contributors.

Aside from that, the article may be correct. However, If I were to give one an essay on Anthropogenic Global Warming using ample data but provided no Works Cited, I would be questioned about the credibility of said data. If I then said I could not provide the sources from which my data was derived would my essay have any credibility?

The biggest issue I have with the Climategate issue is the lack of raw data that the AGW data was derived from.

This is why I believe that we are in no danger at the moment.

IF, IF, IF we were at a point in time where our actions, such as driving, factory emissions etc are causing global warming, then why are we not switching to alternate energy?

I see the go-green commercials, cars are hybrids etc, but I get the feeling that this is to make it seem like they(government) are doing their part. Our part is to be taxed. It really makes no sense.

Why would the oil guys not want to be part of wind or solar power? Bottom line is: we the consumer would have to use it, so they still stand to get rich either way.

My feeling is making the switch will cause more economic turmoil. The fake money is still holding up their empire. Car companies, banks all fell victim to a phony economy. Is the oil industry at risk?

What makes more sense?
1) "Ohh my god, Global Warming is real, bad and man made!!! Quick, lets figure out a way to tax the people for living in the box we force them to live in. This transition should be quick to alleviate any sense of resistance."

2) Ohh my god, Global Warming is real, bad and man made!!! Quick, lets figure out a way to lower emissions, use more sensible energy and keep our environment safe. This transition should be quick to avoid any further damage."

It's our leaders reactions that reek of pure BS.

Yes but this doesn't make as sensational; a story and removes one of our unifying principals. And then who will we rally round if not the effigy of Al Gore?
We would just as soon hang on to the false extrapolation that climate change is a hoax - thank you - and we will continue to fight this good fight for the men, women and children of this great country... until we can no longer see our hands in front of our face.

AP are a very good reliable source, they are in my opinion the last bastion of journalism and correspondence reporting.
