If what you say is true, it is something I have thought long ago.

I would imagine that information processing based on key words can be automatized to be pretty effective. However, there are ways to overcome that. Only stupid and reckless people get caught - but then again, if it is for monitoring citizien's web conversations, blogs and such to get the picture where are they regarding the levels of Consciousness and awerness in general, it can be effective.

But real crooks would encrypt their information effectively.

But you could've just build (programmed) an application that views websites and show those fancy buttons ('deemed safe' etc.) at the top of the web browser then shot a video as shown below and claim to be working for some clandestine agency, just to cause a fuss!

I wouldn't start screaming CONSPIRACY yet. Can you provide any further information?

Would it go off if he was just taking a picture/video? I don't know much about the systems you're talking about but I suppose they could go off just by the cell phone getting a signal?

Even if this is not a hoax, am I the only one thinking what the big deal is? Has it not been common knowledge for years that governments monitor 'key words' from internet usage?

Is 'formerspook' posting this because he may be getting laid off ??

The system is designed to go off 10 feet from the front door of the secure area to alert you to the fact that your mobile is on, and you have forgotten to hand it in.

If you turn it off, walk inside the room and then turn it back on, the alarms go off, and you will be escorted to a holding are to explain your actions.

For any secure area, you can not take any recording device, usb drive, camera, mobile etc etc etc into. you are searched prior to entry, prohibitive items return on exit.

It looks like you are simply rating websites for decency (lack of sexual content) for the purpose of blocking such sites on government computers. There are plenty of home software applications like surfwatch that do the exact same thing. They're probably just sending you the sites that the software wasn't sure about either way.

Ahh I see, thanks for the information. I've heard of them but never really knew how they worked.
