Kunduz Bombing - lawyer speaks of 179 civil victims, 5 Taliban!

www.spiegel.de

Berlin - With the dramatic figures and violent accusations against German and Afghan authorities, the Bremer lawyer Karim Popal went to the public.
...
Instead of the Taliban were almost exclusively villagers killed, according to Pochals recherches. Accordingly, there were 20 injuries and 139 deaths, 20 people are still missing. Among the deaths should be 36 infants.
...
Afghan authorities have been claiming since the dropping of two bombs, most of the dead were Taliban, or at least sympathized.

Well, we all knew it...
The former defense minister (till yesterday minister of labour) resigned already, because he held back informations to the Bundestag (senate).

In his research Popal could not attend as planned, the site of action is not allowed because the security situation and a military operation against the Taliban this. Instead, he assembled a series of meetings with villagers from the region in the relatively safe city of Kunduz. There he could be signed by their mandates, mostly by fingerprint. As proof that it really should act to victims of the bombing, he only collected identity cards, voting cards and other papers from the members.

Sorry for bad google translation...

Here is another good article (this time in native english ^^), not the same story, but good for an overview of the events of the last days:

Video footage emerged yesterdayof the botched air raid ordered by the German commander, Colonel Georg Klein, on the basis of a single piece of intelligence from an Afghan informant who was unable to see the vehicles. The video, leaked to the tabloid Bild, possibly in an attempt to influence a parliamentary decision on extending the German troop presence, prompted Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, the new defence minister, to admit his ministry had at best withheld information and at worst lied about the deaths.

another article:

German opposition parties are pushing for a wider inquiry into a Berlin-ordered NATO airstrike in northern Afghanistan which caused numerous civilian deaths and already led to one resignation in Angela Merkel's cabinet.

Now wait a second, let me get this straight....

Talaban terrorists stole a couple of fuel trucks from NATO.

They brought civilians around the trucks so that when they were destroyed, so as to not allow the terrorists to have it, many civilians were killed/injured.

The blame is completely on the terrorists taliban.

It is a common muslim terrorist tactic to put civilians in harms way with no regard to their safety, to use their death as political propaganda.

The only thing we can be sure of is that even if a million people, or even a billion people, were accidentally killed all at once by the US military not only would there be no apologies but nobody would be punished for it. The US military machine has no feelings and few thoughts either.

Second time I see you spouting this ridiculous idiocy.

Care to think for a moment? How can in your head the fact that NATO BUTCHERED almost 200 civilians be anyone else´s fault than nato itself?

When you go playing at wars around the world, you better be dammed sure of your intelligence, or massacres like this get to happen.

Get real man, use your noodles to actually think.

Truth and reason is clearly beyond some people.

When terrorists steal NATO fuel trucks, that's NATO's fault right?

When terrorists surround the stolen fuel trucks with civilians so NATO does not blow up the tankers is NATO's fault, right?

Wake up and stop falling for terrorist B.S.

They stole the trucks, they put civilians in harms way and they are completly responsible for their deaths.

Of course it is NATO's fault. It is always the fault of NATO or the US. The old Soviet propaganda machine of the 60's, 70's and 80's has finally taken hold. Twenty years too late.

Trying once more, I still have faith:

If a friend of yours get killed by gun shot to the head at work, who do you blame?

A) whoever pressed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger

B) his superiors, for making him be at his workplace working

Well?

Once more.....

The Taliban terrorists stole the NATO fuel trucks.

The Taliban put civilians in harms way in (typical muslin way) hopes NATO would not bomb the fuel trucks to prevent the terrorists from having them and the fuel.

The Taliban stole the trucks.
The Taliban put civilians in harms way.
The Taliban is completely at fault.

You blame the person who put the gun to his head. You SUE the company he worked for. Remember the Port Authority of New York was found liable for the 1993 bombing.

This is both patently ridiculous and absurd.

A civilian is a civilian and if the Foreign Aggressors who are supposedly there to improve the quality of life in Afghanistan can’t distinguish between civilians and combatants with a flotilla of satellites, on the ground spotters, intelligence networks, and AWACS planes then the NATO Forces are dangerously incompetent.

The Taliban didn’t kill these people NATO killed these people.

Indiscriminate use of force is indiscriminate use of force and clearly this was an indiscriminate use of force.

It absolutely disgusts me that prejudiced and bigoted people are so steeped in hatred and rage and paranoia that they are utterly incapable of lamenting the loss of innocent men, women and children whose only crime is living in their own nation of birth.

It shows a pitiful lack of affect that bespeaks of a twisted and convoluted mind that is incapable of empathy for other innocent human beings and seeks only to justify the crimes against them by attempting to focus on some supercilious notion some other crime by some other third party justified it.

150 innocent civilians dead over gasoline, a superficial quickly exhausted basic commodity, that two truckloads off makes about as much difference in the scheme of an 8 year bloody war of attrition as an extra Mickey Mouse showing up at Disney Land for the Day.

All 150 of those people were someone’s fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, children, wives and husbands.

Some people clearly do push the envelope for not being granted license to breath on this planet and that would be those hate filled minds that see no crime or travesty in such an inhumane and despicable act as this.

Thx ProtoplasmicTraveler, at least some people understand why this bombing was not right (not that any would be). They should´ve sent a couple of soldiers, or forget the trucks when they hear it was surrounded by civilians, or they could´ve used warning shots...

What´s the most terrible thing, is that there were reports from the day of the bombing, describing dozens of dead civilians, a spy calling the general and saying there were only Taliban around (i´ll try to find the source) and so on. But nothing in the german news.

Thanks friend, every human life is equal in it's value and this insane notion that this is not true based on geography, religion, race, creed, or color is patently absurd and as faulty as it is deadly.

It's amazing that the people who most condone this abhorent acts of violence where civilians are killed, are also the people who crave dispraportianate vengence when some person near or dear to them and their way of life falls victim to violence.

Other people's lives have no value to them what so ever, but they are the first to cry foul when one of their own meets a similiar needless fate.

It's a crazy world, and someone needs to be brave enough to point out that lunacy.
