A few years ago, I came upon some music that took me away from the here and now and swept me into a world of infinite emotions and powerful imagery.

Celtic

I want to share some of my favorites here with you and encourage you to post yours.

While I do enjoy Enya, I have found other, lesser known artists that I consider to be far superior.

Loreena McKennitt

Bonny Portmore

The Highwayman

Annie Lennox

Into The West

I have almost everything Loreena has done and several other artists I will post for you all later.

I find myself getting lost in this music like no other. It calms me, inspires me and gives me strength all at the same time. I know of no other way to describe the feelings.

Sometimes when I find myself depressed, this music takes me further into my depression; while that could be a negative thing, listening to this music gives me the power to ride the wave of that depression, to actually revel in the negative feelings.

Anyway, enjoy

OMG !!!! The Mummers Dance is amazing.

I first heard this about 10 years ago, when I was driving cross state to see my gal, so to this day, this song takes me back to that time.

Loreena is amazing.

Well they epitomise modern Celtic music over here (UK)
Were huge for a while.

Still going though.

They make truly beautiful music.
When i saw this thread title... that's what i expected... some Clannad.

Glad you liked it.

I'd say get their debut album
www.amazon.com...=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1259165026&sr=8-8

or this
www.amazon.com...

Or their best of to start.
www.amazon.com...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1259165026&sr=8-1

Or just download them for free... if that's your thing.

I think you guys have collectively posted my entire music collection.....I absolutely adore Loreena McKennitt's work, and I feel it completely transformational. I shift into a whole other world when I listen to it, and if music can be a portal, this is how it's done. I hope one day soon I can go to one of her live shows. Put yourself on her mailing list and she will keep you updated.

I love celtic music and Loreena mckennitt, this song is really amazing, it's an old folk song and she sings it lovely

Also it's probably not classed as celtic but, it has that ''sound'' and is just beautiful .

Chloe Agnew - Ave Maria, check it out, classic song, but she sings it so good
