I'm very skeptical that such preemptive use of antibiotics is effective. It makes sense in response to bacteria but otherwise all you're doing is 1) increasing the chance of antibiotic immunity is surviving populations and 2) creating a more viable body for bacterial infections by killing good bacteria and often suppressing the immune system. Are you talking about a preemptive treatment or about in response to any evidence of a secondary bacterial infection? There's a reason why giving antibiotics in response to the common cold is dangerous antibiotic abuse.

First of all, the Doctor prescribed them to me. I wasn't suffering from the actual virus anymore but what was left in my chest was turning into a chest and sinus infection. It worked and that's all I can say about that!!

This virus causes damage to the lungs which leaves the patients prone to bacterial pneumonia. There have been countless reports of swine flu victims coming down with it and quite a few end up dying.

After the first string of similar deaths the Doctors in Mexico began using the antibiotics as part of the swine flu treatment; the end result being fewer secondary pneumonia cases.

In Mexico, people will wait until they are near death to see a Dr or go to the ER. The situation is different here in the US where patients will be more likely to return to the Dr should the symptoms change or continue. They can wait to see if the secondary infection does actually take place before prescribing them.

It's just a difference in financial status and culture. If the Doctors in Mexico hadn't acted preemptively the deaths would have continued as patients waited until they were near death to return for help. Treating pneumonia at that stage is not the most ideal situation.

Hey Squiz, my children have had dozens each, I wonder what all damage I had done to me in the military. They lined use up in boot camp and hyposprayed and syringed us with god knows what. Dozens of shots in a day, four different days. Sometimes, I would say that 80% of us were sick as dogs after the inoculations.

Hey Butcherguy, thanks for replying. I thought no one was going to answer. Why is it Americans are so heavily vaccinated?

Dozens? that is startling.
My daughter has had a total of six shots, and definately not all at once. I was on the fence on the issue at the time some years ago. I was aware of the dangers. But also thought it was the best thing to do.

It's taken me over six years to come to where I am now.

Americans are the most heavily vaccinated people on the planet. I don't know how dozen of shots in one go can be justified by any standards. I've heard some children can have up to 50 shots before the age of 12? INSANE.

This does not happen in other countries does it?

Luckily I'm sure you kids are fine, others don't fair so well. Best of health to you and your family.

some people i read are having an extreme immune system repsoinse to the flue virus which causes such a severe reaction in the lungs and swelling and inflammation that the body no longer can get enough oxygen

its really scary

Yes, makes you wonder, what is the trigger that makes this thing turn deadly. Is it the strain the person contracted or is it that they were predisposed due to previous vaccinations, or is it just bad luck? It is scary, but we have to keep this in perspective I guess and just have a plan, for treatment ahead of time. My plan is to be proactive and take vit. C,D and eat well. I read a thread on onions, and so will keep that in mind too. Not much else you can do, except hide away from society and that''s just not an option at this point.

FluTracker is a really good site.

That being said, fluboard.rhizalabs.com...

Sequences from Russian lung samples released tonight at Genbank. 3 of 3 had D225G. Since they are lung samples, I suspect cases are fatal.
