In the past, match-ups are decided by either ranking or by random drawing. When this year's approach is decided, we will announce it. Later today I'll post the list of people who have been entered.

A big thank you to those who have come forward as a potential judge and with debate topics. The members really rally around the debate tournaments and I'm glad to see you guys come out so strongly to support this one.

Well I would like to try my first debate Im not good at politics though, I like the alien and ufo stuff more I havent debated before but I have always want to do one so might as well try this time.

I dont wish to sign up (just yet), but what a great idea this is. I hope we all get to view these debates, its a great way of learning too!

Will everyone at ATS be made aware when these debates are taking place? I dont want to miss it.

ATS Debate Forum

In that forum you can see challenge matches, plenty of previous tournaments and even a few "holiday skirmishes", as they've come to be called. A lot of debates from our members are there and they make for excellent reads. All of our debates for this tournament will be held in that forum.

I am officially throwing my hat in!! Bring it on!!

Its all about luck of the draw mblah....you may even have to argue about things you dont believe in (like my scientology debate), but if I recall correctly, there aren't that many political topics. Its quite hard for people not from the USA to argue on American political matters as we dont get that much coverage.

Hopefully there isnt any political ideas

I would also like to be involved if it is still possible. Is there a chance we could be made pirvy to the topics so we can be better prepared?

No, you wont know until the draw is made and your topic is randomly allocated. Thats part of the fun of the debate tournament.

And Grant, any ideas you should u2u to Chissler or SemperFortis

Dont post them publicly as we are not allowed to know until the debate draw is done

We're looking at late-November or the first week of December at the absolute latest.

As this tournament will continue through the holidays, we can work in a little bit of a break for a few days to allow for the holiday season. Debaters can work out what they'd like to do among themselves.

I will take a newcomer spot.

I would be delighted to take part in this tournament. Consider me for entry if you'd be so kind.
