I am tired of seeing and hearing comments like

"this girl is damaged for life"
"this girl is wrecked for life"

What is that? Is that like the old idea of a girl being 'damaged goods' if she wasn't a virgin? Cause really, it has those same connotations. Is she gonna be a victim for life?

She might indeed have problems for life, but more women - and boys and girls and men too - live to survive rape and beatings and don't let it get the best of them.

I refuse to give her a sentence of shame on top of the victimization she's just had. This little lady is going to recover and she's going to see these idiots put away, because OBVIOUSLY she IS a survivor.

She is only a survivor because she did not die after being left unconscious. That is hardly any indication of any psychological strength, or any indicator of future health, or any indicator of whether she will survive this experience. You have no idea how she will react. Ask yourself how you would react to being raped over and over by disgusting, depraved, brutal animals who treat you as if you are just filth to be violated and then leave you to die in a back alley. You are hardly going to be up and about in a week, dressing up to go out to a dance. She will be irreversibly scarred for life…no question of that.
As for these pathetic males, they should be stuck in a cell, and then once a week should be visited, at time unknown, and anally raped with a burning hot cattle prod until they lose consciousness. Then as they go about prison life they should be randomly attacked at time unknown, so they experience fear, pain, injustice, helplessness, and utter terror and violation of their bodies and minds when least expecting or deserving it.
Shame they can’t be forced to stand naked in court too, while everyone laughs at them, so they can feel the shame of violation.

That's like saying it's not a girl's fault in being promiscuous.
Okay.. it's not completely the same, but it's on the same wavelenght without going so far.

but still, I don't get women who show so much cleavage but then get mad when men stare at it
I'm sorry but it makes no sense, and I look strongly on that.... no I mean i feel strongly on that
If you don't want people to look, stop showing it.

I'm sorry but it is beyond me how parents allow kids to dress, it is beyond me
many many parents took their kids out of this school if you read the news
they took their kids out of this school but won't change their style of parenthood
it just doesn't make any sense to me

Okay, let's put it this way guys
Don't you find guys get worse and worse every generation
and i'm sorry, but girls get easier and easier and dress slutier every generation?
When you remember your adolescense do you feel alienated by this reality?
Now think, did parents allow their kids to dress like this when you were growing up?
There's your answer!

People take the word freedom too far and don't understand it
When kids speak of freedom, the first thing they usually refer to is indecency.

It's the parent's fault.

I don't think I've ever been as mad at a ATS post before. Those boys are pathetic and deserve to go away for a very long time. Not only have they physically abused the young girl, but they have scarred her for life.

Lets see how they like it when their on the other end of rape... Jail rape.

For the record, I speak from personal experience. I do not HAVE to ask myself how it feels. I KNOW how it feels.

It is the dadblame SHAME of violation, as you so call it, that keeps a lot of women from reporting what happens to them.

The SHAME needs to be placed with the perpetrators, not the victim.

When I was a victim of rape, left naked on the side of the damn road, the only thing I kept thinking about was MY MOTHER talking about past rape victims "That poor girl, she's ruined"

I DIDN'T want to be ruined. I am NOT ruined.

WTH are YOU to challenge me to know how it feels?

[edit on 29-10-2009 by hadriana]

ALSO - how can YOU PEOPLE keep talking about JAIL RAPE as a good solution? How can you knowingly let someone you are responsible for be raped make you feel like you've solved a problem?

Jail rape is a disgrace to our entire society. I don't care WHO the criminals are. It is OUR humanity at stake when we allow people to be raped.

SO how are those of you hoping these sorry SOBs get raped any different from the people that stood there and watched? Just like the prison gaurds that KNOW it happens and they do nothing.

HTW is it different?

I'm sure he didn't mean it that way
I'm sorry for the ordeal you went through
I'm also sorry on behalf of male species

However, although I don't speak from experience, i'm sure that most rape victims won't have flashbacks of people saying "that poor girl" right after going through that experience.

This girl in this story endured this for over 2hours with her entire school as an audience.
The entire city, even state, knows about what she went through.
She'll most likely have to move, despite her being the victim.

I don't think that she is feeling what you felt, I strongly doubt it.

And this poor girl is scarred for life, not as damaged goods, but mentally she must be scarred.
Even men who go to jail and get raped become mentally scarred too.

I hope you don't take what I said the wrong way.

Thanks

I'm talking to a female friend, and she says that it is just people's way of showing sympathy to the victim and expressing how horrible the crime is.

But I do think it is something that a lot of women feel - this placing of shame on the victim. We don't speak up because we want to protect our mothers, or fathers. We don't want to be seen as pitiful or in need of pity. A LOT of us - immediately - want - maybe NEED - to forget it, until it can be dealt with.

I would just rather hear people say "She's going to live to see these SOBs go to jail" and "She's going to get to graduate college and enjoy a family while these a%hats waste their lives dying in prison."

Just if I had my rathers. I wish there were more women contributing to this thread.

She'll never forget it, no. It will have it's toll on her. But she is a survivor because she IS alive today. I hope she is able to bear witness as soon as she will need to.

I'm just waiting for someone to start blaming the rapist parents or the kids local religious leader for abusing them when they were kids. It just couldn't be that the kids are bad? No! Let's wait for the hammer to drop on some poor unsuspecting priest or parent for some imagined or made up abuse. The majority of the people involved will never see a jail cell, let alone a slap on the wrist. The blame will fall on society and not on those who ignored the pleas of the victim.

We need to get tough on these thug/rapist now and make an example of them.

I would say the parents of the rapists most likely should never have had children in the first place. Looking at the neighborhood, and the pics on the news, the entire area is covered in graffiti. Many have pointed out that the place is a slum. Most of the parents are likely gang members themselves, gangs became widely popular in the late 80's and early 90's...these are their offspring. Most of them probably don't have contact with their fathers and if they do they're probably in prison, and they probably walk all over their mothers who are used to being pushed around by thugs anyway. This is the result of breeding into a violent remorseless culture, i fear it will get worse every generation. Like pit bulls bred to fight, each generation it will get more hardwired...

I am willing to be ten bucks these were gang members. And if that is the case, this isn't about bad parenting or video games.

Which like someone else stated, if they are gang members, that is probably why no one responded and called help, for fear of being killed or family members being harrassed or killed.

She said none of the four officers who were at the homecoming dance was patrolling the school premises even though there were a dozen young men hanging out just a few feet from the gym entrance. She says school officials chose not to take any action.

"I looked outside of the gym and I saw 12 to 15 guys, sitting there, with no IDs," Baker said at the hearing. "The officers -- not only did they not check the IDs of those students or men sitting outside of of our campus, but the security officers who are employed here did no ... checking either. The assistant principal looked outside and actually saw those men, and did nothing about it."

It does look like the school is going to have to assume some responsibility.

Baker later described the 15-year-old girl as a churchgoer who struggled to fit in at Richmond High

So you're say NO ONE in Africa should be allowed to have a child?

Someone with your mentality shouldn't have a full blue contribution bar.

Accountability is Necessary!

The community needs to take justice in their own hands
This is ridiculous

Useless security guards and useless assistant princicpal.
If this was my old school that would never have happened.

Something NEEDS to be done and I can't say it enough

Now the way she said: Those men. I wonder if it is the same group of people that did the attack.

If that is the case, this is a horrible. That means that the security and assistant principle, saw grown men standing outside the school and did nothing about it.

Wow, that's quite a jump you made, maybe you should lay off the beer. Also, way to cut up the post in order to COMPLETELY misrepresent what i was saying.

I said nothing about africa. I was talking about gang members, reproducing and making little gang members here in the USA. Africa is none of my business, however here in the USA, where my children are being raised, it is very much my business. Gang members don't make good parents, and are unable to raise a child to be anything other than a drain on society. It's MY son who may be beaten to death by a pack of rabid little thugs...it's my daughter who may be gang raped by a pack of rabid little thugs. I have every right to be concerned with that. I couldn't care less if you agree, and even less what you think about my contribution bar.

I read this article a few days ago. It wasn't just boys at the school, but young men as well. Apparently the leaders of the group was around 22, and many were over 18.

Most will go to prison, where they will find themselves on the other end of the act, so they will get their payback.

Where they will met up with their buddies, and try to cause havoc.

Housing gang members in the same jail is retarded.

What a lovely bunch of people. Standing around watching someone be raped viciously into unconsciousness.

I swear to whatever is holy that if any son of mine was involved, even if it was "just watching" he'd never come home because I would beat the lively snot out of him if I ever got my hands on him.

Part of the problem to begin with is that most of the parents will get lawyers and plead t heir kids innocent. They'll say MY Johnny would never do such a thing.

Gagan said police arrested three of the suspects Tuesday night. They included Salvador Rodriguez, 21, as well as a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old whose identities were not released because they are juveniles, he said. A 19-year-old, Manuel Ortega, and an unidentified 15-year-old were arrested earlier, he said.

www.cnn.com...

Looks like some Mexican gang type crap.. what the hell was a 21 year old doing at a high school dance to begin with?

Only good news is they actually caught these bastards, and according to the DA, all even the young ones, face life in prison.

According to this article: www.cnn.com...

Some bystanders were laughing and taking photos with cellphones .. disgusting..

www.cnn.com...

Apparently the girl wasn't associated with the criminals, just attacked. Officers of course didn't check ID's, which explains how 18+ year olds were there .. I always hated school ID's in high school, me and my friends would trade them sometimes.. I could go weeks with a black friends ID, and he wearing mine.

Hopefully the girl will get Justice and be able to put the ordeal behind them.. these sick bastards deserve life in prison, and hopefully the bystanders are scarred for life, or else, burn in hell whenever their time arrives.

Let us not forget that these people are all in high school. These are not adults. These children were all born in the nineties. These children grew up with the internet. They know no world without the internet. They can watch 50 channels of gang rape porn on any number of websites for FREE.

I love the internet and the information available, but it needs a cleaning or else we will see things like this more and more.

We must stop sending our children mixed signals. If that includes making gang rape porn unavailable then so be it.
