White House Calls ACORN Employees' Behavior 'Unacceptable'

At today's White House briefing, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, asked by ABC News about recent government actions taken against ACORN, had a forceful response.

"Obviously the conduct you see on those tapes is completely unacceptable," Gibbs said, raising the issue of videotapes posted online by BigGovernment.com and aired frequently by Fox News Channel that seem to show ACORN employees advising a faux prostitute and faux pimp on how to skirt housing and tax laws. "The administration takes accountability extremely seriously."

Gibbs said the Census Bureau decided that ACORN could not assist the group in meeting "the bureau's goal of achieving a fair and accurate count in 2010" and that some other agencies are evaluating their relationship with the group. "We constantly evaluate to ensure that any grantee is living up to what has to happen in order to fulfill that grant application."

He pointed out that "previous administrations" had awarded grants to ACORN either through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Amazing how the White House dismisses the 9/12 March on Washington ... Only after the popular outrage against ACORN through House members finally reaches them.

House Reps. are finally realizing their jobs are on the line and possibly their lives.

Too bad fear is a motivating force; it should have been 'doing the right thing" as a the primary motivation.

So it looks like ABC finally found out about this story, good for them

It's pretty bad when most of the major news network refuse to report a story this big and while i'm at it, Kudos to Robert Gibbs for bringing up "Previous Administrations" because after all it wouldn't be a proper White House press conference without blaming someone else

Ok,

So did you REALLY expect anything else from the WhiteHouse?

It basically amounts to.... nothing.

Same old, same old.

I wonder when the White House will call ACORN's vote fraud activities "unacceptable".

Another line.

So the conduct in the tapes is unacceptable, not ACORN itself? That's like apologizing for someone being offended at what they said, rather than apologizing for what they said.

Of course, now that ACORN has realized that HR3571 Defund ACORN Act shown here is newly introduced, ACORN is panicking (about loosing money.)

Typical.

I Can't find the link to their statement that 'they will halt operations and begin reforming'; John Boehner stated that 'it's too little, too late'.

They are only sorry that they got caught and that NOW it appears there are going to be consequences.

Imo the white house needs to create distance and it needs to do it now. it needs to aggressively sever all ties to ACORN and the white house should hunker down if ACORN does not spring back form this and heads at the top of ACORN roll, MR. Obama might have some explaining to do if ACORN comes out with credible info on the president. For letting they fry like this.

Typical. Obama was part of that group until now it becomes a political liability, and he wants to put a bit of distance between him and ACORN.

He tossed his white grandmother under the bus to make a few race points.

He tossed his best friend/pastor/mentor of 20-odd years when it became politically expedient.

This guy would climb over anyone, push anyone under to climb another step, and has no anchor.

No base. No moral anchor.

No nothing.

He's like the vapor blowing whichever direction the wind of the moment is taking him.

With friends like him, you really don't have any friends.
