Hi all,

I've just been made aware of some very unusual and distinctive "structures" located in the Antarctic at positions
66 33' 11.58"S
99 50' 17.86"E

and

66 36' 12.58"S
99 43' 12.72"E


I'm not sure what to make of this ... whether it's a completely natural phenomena or whether it's artificial i.e. man-made. I've read and heard of theories regarding secret bases supposedly somewhere in the Antarctic, whether US or even Nazi (NeuSchwabenland) and that's the 1st thing that came to mind when I saw this. But as I said, I have no idea really.

Prior to 23 Feb 2006, it didn't exist or alternatively may have been covered over and concealed. But after this date, it is clearly and unambiguosly visible.

The "structure" is roughly triangular in shape with a width of approx 90 metres and a height of approx 60 metres ... so it's considerable in size. The floor appears to be composed of ice and relatively level though slightly concave.

In my opinion, it certainly looks like it's an artificialy constructed opening. Also, the ice outside the opening gives me the impression it was liquid water that flowed out of the opening and then froze rapidly.
Also note that the ice does NOT have a covering of snow.




In the following image there is evidence of what appears to be a dirt track leading away from the ice ... with a continuation along the ice floor outside the opening.

Notice that the type of material composing the "lid" is totally different from the surrounding rocky material.





The following 2 sets of images may or may not be artificial ... and could simply be natural formations. But again, in my opinion, they seem to have elements of artificiality in their structures.




Is it just me or does this look like either a submarine or a ship completely enclosed in ice ? Are those deck structure covered in ice ?




Yes, I know it's probably just an unusual ice formation ... but ... doesn't it look artificial, symmetrical, very streamlined and gives the suggestion of some kind of aircraft.






Even though the previous 2 sets of images may be natural formations despite their "artificial" look, I decided to include them in this thread for the following reason ... when you take the 2 holes/entrance images and the other 2 "artificial looking" artifact images, all 4 of them align in almost a perfect line as can be seen below ... coincidence ?



So ... what are we to make of the above ? ... especially the 2 entrances / openings ?

I assume you've searched through ATS's threads for all the material here about all sorts of bizarre stuff that has gone on, is going on, or rumored to go on there? Interesting that the evidence is there for all of us to see now. Makes you wonder what's coming next.

I have no doubt the military of most nations could make a underground base where its possible.


The holes could be vents for a heat source though, say underground volcano?

Very interesting and intriguing. The first 2 absolutely look man made to me.
Of course, I'm no expert, but I just don't see those being anything but
artificial. Of course, there may be a logical explanation but until then, I
will continue to be curious.

Hmmmm ... a crevasse, you say ? Possibly ....

First, a definition: "A crevasse is a crack in an ice sheet or glacier."
No mention of rocks or mountains.

Lets take a look at some representative crevasses, shall we ?









None of the above look anything like the images from Antarctica.

So to answer your question ... Yes, I DO think the Antarctica images are interesting !

The first one looks weird, that is a huge opening and the surface of the ice looks really smooth. I wonder if there is a volcano in antartica near there that is going hot so to speak.

Dont they look similar to the ones seen on Mars? Same company I suppose.

Very fascinating, but at the moment I'm partial to the idea volcanic heat vents. I can't say why the "lids" are silvery or why these phenomena are aligned so. The idea of military operations there is not at all impossible, nor is it asinine. I might look into this as as well.

The ice formations, however, with them I'm on the fence. There are artificial and natural elements so a really accurate judgment I'm not comfortable making. These are very interesting though.

Please don't get me wrong ... no way am I stating CONCLUSIVELY that these openings ARE artificial ! I look at it from the point of view that one may be natural no matter how unusual it looks ... but a 2nd opening within close proximity and even more unusual looking ? kind of starts me thinking ...

Yes, I'm also on the fence regarding the other 2 "artifacts". They both seem to have elements of "artificiality" but could just be very weird ice sculptures !

But I also ask myself ... why are these 4 artifacts, all incredibly unusual within close proximity to each other AND aligned as they are ? Tends to stretch coincidence some what !

As for why i was there ... just one of my hobbies using GE ... amazing the things one finds when one looks carefully enough

I too like the idea of volcanic vents or an old lava tube that had multiple skylights.

The only way to be sure of course is by asking a geologist about it or find out if it has been explored already.

Im not a geologist but those first pics dont look natural to me.And theres plenty of lore to go with the region as well.Just my 2 bits.

The one picture doesn't look natural to me as if metallic, like an old nickel. Interesting pictures. The ice or cement around the opening has a blue grey tint to it also. Somewhat like some glaciers do, or epoxy cement might. I've heard of natural vents in some places of the earth. Or did I imagine that?

how do they look man-made? Youve never seen a large chunk of ice melt / refreeze and melt again over and over huh? nothing looks manmade to me here.

I just dont understand people sometimes... they find something natural but since they cannot explain it using their knowledge it starts spiraling into aliens and secret military facilities.

I've just had another close look and don't see any sign whatsoever of lava flows if the openings were volcanic in nature.
Also the ground immediately infront of the openings appear to be identical to the surrounding area, by that I mean there is no ejecta such as rubble or boulders or detrius as one would expect if material had been expelled to create the openings ... and no blast effects to be seen either.

In fact, both openings also have a small ice sheet immediately infront of them that looks as if it was liquid water and then very rapidly frozen in place.

Cool.

Seriously, how do you explain that black, plastic looking roof on the second picture. That looks man-made.

The last 2 look natural but the first 2 cave openings certainly merit further investigation.

Anybody know an expert on the Antarctic ?
