When minutes count, they wait until you are stabilized and legally cognizant before you sign the form. If they give me drugs, i don't even sign the form, my wife does.

Do we really have to go through this play by play?

Not one person I know from Canada ever had to wait 17.5 weeks to see a Doctor or Specialist when there was a life threatning situation. NEVER. I know what it's like to wait for a specialist. It happens here all the time.
But if it was an emergency they would be in to the Doctor within minutes. No system is perfect but at least EVERYONE is covered.

what scares me about it is you will be required to buy health insurance. you can not be denied for pre-existing conditions ,but it does not say in the bill they can not charge you more for having pre-exsiting conditions so in other words if your already a risk u pay 3times more for healtchare your forced to buy, or you pay the government 2.5 to 3.5% of your yearly salary as a penalty for not having healthcare it insane . where is the freedom to choose either way you have to pay someone

the government plan is very limited on what services you can recive as well depending on your health condition age etc...

There's many legitimate reasons to oppose the healthcare. A lot of my reasons come straight from the words of the people who support it and the bill itself. Comparing the two, you can tell that we're not being told the complete truth about what's in the bill, whether they're lying or whether they just don't know whats in their own bill... its still a bad mess. For those saying its just the scared insurance companies? DAMN RIGHT they're scared This bill WILL mean the eradication of private insurers. (Except those ones that are providing coverage to the authorities exempt from the government plan of course). Read page 16 of the bill. Current Coverage is grandfathered in, but there's no new enrollment in private coverage. So if you want private coverage, you better get it before January 1, 2009 otherwise you're stuck with the government plan or no coverage at all(which constitutes a hefty fine).

Here's the bill if you want it:
The Bill

There are always exceptions to every rule and based on the facts you are in a small percentage of the exceptions.

Health care costs in the U.S. are way out of line,
and, no I haven't even read the bill,
however,
I do know who the first people called to the Whitehouse to help craft this bill were.

Politicians.
Health Insurance reps.
Hospital Admins.
Pharmaceutical Companies.

Truthfully, I have no need to read this bill, knowing the folks who crafted it.

Ppl can read, the bill is online, its being picked apart on TV, Radio,
the Internet, and even newspapers.

The literacy rate is pretty high in the US last I checked.

You can sugar coat this turd however you want, your rhetoric does
not hold water and you have no idea what you are in for when most
of the baby boomers rise up in anger.

You better learn to like this anger and worse when NAIS, S.787,
and Codex Alimentarius are rammed down ppls throats soon.

What is happening now is bad, but it is going to get worse.

Like I said. This health care FIASCO is gonna happen. No matter how many townhall meetings, no matter how many debates in Congress. This WILL HAPPEN I promise you. This current bill is going to be tweeked for sure. A little taken out a little added but in the end we'll get it. And I mean in the END.
What worries me most is the 17 million people that lost thier jobs and the 1 million+ homeless. What about them?

I really don't need to argue with you. I just hope that you never get injured beyond something you can't fix yourself. I don't need to tell you how you'll feel when you end up using the system for the first time.

Just to be clear, it would be awesome to have some health care reform.

this is MHO

I am sure there are some insurance companies that need to be slapped around, some lawyers that need to be thrown into a river, and some doctors and hospitals that need to clean up their act.

I am sure that there are a very small percentage of people, nowhere near the 12-20% that the reps keep quoting, that actually have no way in hell of seeing a doctor.

But this throwing the baby out with the bathwater crap is not going to help this. It is simply about control of the population, with a slight flavor of eugenics, regarding the decision as to who gets care when and for what.

Ask yourself in your heart of hearts, do we really want the government to have that power?

If I wrote a bill stating that we would all have to eat only healthy food, no soda, no candy, no fat, no red meat, and that all substances that did not naturally occur in the body and that contained no nutrients were banned from ingestion (i.e. cigarettes, caffiene, tobacco), then I could call it a health care reform bill too.

But it would be about control, not reform.

Don't misunderstand, none of that crap is in this bill, but you end up at the same net result, government telling you what you can and can't do with your own funds and your own body.

Doctors in England get paid more for each patient they get to lower thier cholestoral(Eat Healthy), quit smoking( Nicotine) Lower your blood sugar(sweets) ect... I guess a health plan is what you make it. And I remember a couple of years ago they were going to appeal National Health Care in England and thier was damn near a riot. So Im hearing both good and bad from NHC in England.

WOW...pages of arguing, against me and others for reform and you agree with what I've been saying. This thread is about health care reform and some people have mistaken this thread for discussion of the current piece of legislation sitting in congress. People have been arguing about the same idea page after page, and then someone calls someone a name and it gets out of hand. I'm fairly sure 100% of the people don't like the bill...but we entered this conversation to discuss why people are opposed to health care reform.

I will lay it out for you.

In America, when you lose your job, and you have employer health insurance, you COBRA your coverage COBRA info

That is nationwide, it is law.

When you can't find a job with new coverage and you are dead broke from being unemployed, you go on Medicaid, which is a program run by your state that is funded by the Fedgov. Unless you have some sizable assets, in which case you probably won't qualify unless they are liquidated.

As far as the 1 mil homeless, all they have to do is sign up on the medicaid train, no deductibles, no copay. Yuo have no assets and no income, you are in there quick as a flash.

Now do we get it?

js331975's OP
Single Payer Health Care is a good thing. It is not the government deciding the fate of your health. Nor is it new. We already have various forms of it in this country: Medicaid for example. It is not perfect, but it is the only recourse for people living below the poverty line who cannot afford to pay an insurance company.
All that this new health care plan is, is an alternative option for people in the middle class. It is an option that will both give you health care coverage if your insurance company drops you, and fill in the gaps of coverage that you may find yourself needing. It is not enforced enslavement to a government system. It’s an alternative.

The thread is about SINGLE PAYER healthcare, and just who do you think that payer would be? Your uncle FED.

We have a free clinic in my town it's called the 'Out reach Clinic'.
It's open from 4:00pm to 6:30pm every Thursday. Which is perfect if your only emergency happens at that time and on that day.

I thought you lived in Canada, why the hell would you need a free clinic?

If your health care is gov't run and you STILL have out of pocket costs, then I sure as HELL don't want any.

Not true here in Oregon. Here we have the Oregon Health Plan and right now I couldn't get on that plan if I wanted too. Only Children and pregnant women are getting on the health plan now. If I need to see a Doctor for anything I have to go to the Emergency room at the hospital or wait until 4:00pm to 6:30pm on Thursdays to go to the free clinic. Now do you understand.

Don't even say that the japs have facories over here, of course they do, but they are all in the south, and non union factories which are paying poor bubba 13 bucks an hour

Whats with the hatred towards the south?

You think that we don't deserve to get paid?

We have kids to feed just like everyone else.

Comments like that are the reason there is still hate in the world.
