Why Is Just Producing A Birth Certificate So Difficult?

I have the birth certificate I got from my parents in my safe deposit box. I (or my parents) have had to produce it for school, drivers license passport, Social security number.... the blasted thing is over fifty years old.

The fact that at this time "the State Department of Health (DOH) no longer issues Certificates of Live Birth" doesn't cut it. Sorry he is a lawyer of course he has all his paperwork and has had it for years!

Ok, I don't have my original birth certificate. I had to get a copy. I used the COLB to get a drivers license, ss card, and passport. Just because you have a 50 year old document doesn't mean everyone else has one.

People loose things, especially when they move as frequently as I have.
