There is nothing much in the source of the web page. Just some coding to write the clock to the page and keep it running and a google analytics script.

one interesting thing to note here, though, is the script is *very* clean with tabs and spacing and all that. Not a script kiddie unless he is OCD.

Could it be the launch of the movie 2012? I know it was originally planned to be released in July but they put it back for reasons of their own?

Take my advise and not bother trying to stop people going crazy by trying to get to the bottom of this. As always some of the people will never listen no matter how much proof you provide and will find a way to go crazy one way or the other.

What I know at this point:

The code at sept2nd.com is screwy, I'm not a comp guy, but it seems there is supposed to be a counter that counts down to sept 2.

District 9 comes out 999. Sept 2 is one week before that and this is a 30 night countdown.

There are entries on websites such as wikipedia about sept 2.

There are links to extremely complicated and thorough scientific websites about cloning and human trials.

I will provide links for these things if you like, but it's more fun to go find it yourself, and while I want to tease you a bit, (because I do think it's a viral mark.) I don't want to influence your decision too much.

Some people think it's total bs, with nothing important attached to it and it's 4 chan dorks doing it.

Should be able to confirm that.

Just bumping this thread because there's a coupla days till nothing happens....

I am going to check sept2nd.com... on sept 2 to see if it changes.
I'm still convinced there is something wrong with the html code of that site. Even though, as a poster said, it's lined up perfectly, (no kiddies here) I found, for instance, a spelling error in the timer. It says "datailed" instead of "detailed"

Is there a html person here who can take a real good look at the code?

I'm off to become a double agent to see if I can get to the bottome of this bs.

you get the word "noob" and a forwarding link to a super lame "magazine" site called doubledance.

I wouldn't go to doubledance unless you tricked me to, so I guess their "campaign" to entice people to come to their site worked...

for at least the count of 1.
