Maybe you'd prefer a remake of Alien Nation? Then we can all harp on on the whole "dont be prejudiced" thing we've been harping on since the dawn of time for some reason whenever the subject matter comes up people approach it like it's "new" and "edgy."

Alien Nation

District 9 is as close to an Alien Nation remake there is right now.

If well done I can look past the whole "I've heard this story a million times before" thing but we'll see.

Something more original would be nice no?!
Alien Nation was cool, though they did kill that one off
with the dodgy sequels!

but the fact is independence day took that intro with the ships flying over the cities from the original v. so really v is just reclaiming it. sorry , it's a small irritant of mine lol.

... and "V" took that intro from the Arthur C. Clarke novel, "Childhood's End".

Just so you know.

Ahh...the original miniseries...probably one of the first shows I'd be absolutely sure I'd never miss (and this was pre-DVR days, and most of us didn't have VCRs either...)

Diana...now there's one reptile worth shedding your skin for...

The original can be had for like $15 at Walmart...pick it up, it's pretty good, especially if you get the allegory between the aliens and Hitler's Germany.....

The big question about this new series is who is producing/creating it??

Personally, the original series was terrible (though, not as bad as 'Battlestar Galactica').

However, 'BG' was re-imagined (by a former Star Trek alum) and truned out to be quite good. Perhaps there will be new sort of creativity this time, with a re-imagined "V".

I'm not holding my breath, however...

all i can say is woooo..

Like many of the oldschoolers here, V was one of the main influences for me taking an intrest in ufology at an early age.

Regardless of if they follow the original storeyline, im just happy there is another ufo programme for me to watch.

Made my day seeing this as ive had once heck of a day in the office

I can't wait to see what they do with it.

Yeah We had the V mini series aired here in New Zealand around I think 85-86 or so I know I was at 8 might have been 7... scared the crap out of me
that first reptilian revealing scene, the spittle, the rat gulping... ships full of frozen human corpses.

Then that rather stupid spin off TV series was made centering around that ridiculous starchild, sure it was 'ok' but they should have left it as the original 6 part? mini-movie series. Damn thats right just remembered that birth sequence with the baby and its giant lizard tongue... now what was that one thing the lizards where lethally allergic too... and i dont mean that Mexican guys super onion breath

Thing is, did the Ike like reptilian claims start before or after the series, or was the series based on rumors or half truths based on reality

Hope the new series is able to pull off what was good about the original but inject some more darker and less 80's ish material. Given a typical time frame It'll probably end up on TV here about a year after you guys in teh states see it

Oh and i believe they are making a Triffid remake... hope they pull it off well also especially given the prevalence and reality of GM food these days

Hmm is it just me or are they gonna do a reversal of the human girl alien guy have kid side plot? and go with a alien girl and human guy have kid/love interest. Not complaining but something I found a little frustrating in teh original considering the extreme difference in species between the two. 'Hey your food but I love you!"

copy of the original mini series, and talk about cheesy!

Lots of lovely 80`s hairdo`s,bad acting and special effects
to go with it.
A remake could be interesting, but I`ll admit I find the whole
ET`s=Evil to be getting a bit tedious and most certainly disinfo!
But could be fun!

Yes hollywood tends to make EVERYTHING evil for entertainment haha.

Evil robots instead of nice helpful robots.

Evil aliens, evil animals, evil people, evil children, evil ghosts, evil technology etc etc

Good old entertainment.

LOL is it because of her stuck expression she seems to have?

I like her, except for that stuck expression that seems a little annoying.

David Icke's going to have a field day!!

Well, in my opinian it's just another classic example of hollywood grabbing a pre-existing idea and making it as unbelieveable as the possibly can.

It's the reason conspirasists like us so often hear the phrase "you've been watching too much television" When in fact its quite the opposite. ~

(I won't make any reserved effort to tune in but i'm sure i'll end up catching a few episodes when it comes out)

I thought "V" was for Victory. That's what the old Jewish guy in the mini-series said they painted during the Holocaust.

You have to love in the original mini series when they show the chick eating the hamster. Her head is totally fake and her jaw unhinges. It is so obvious, but that is what makes it awesome
