You can find many scientific articles about the whole solar system heating up and not just the earth. I do think though that our CO2 emissions do have an impact on the climate, albeit smaller than the affect on the whole solar system at the moment. Less waste is always more beneficial, and regardless of global warming being caused by us or not, it would be apt for us to start developing cleaner alternatives now rather than later.

i think no matter what the truth is we should use this climate change hype and get into more alternatives. we already have "free" energy that anyone can afford. you can get evacuated solar panels (tubes) to heat your water for less than $2K and it will reduce your overall bills. you can collect the rain water into barrels and flush toilets or irrigate your garden. and of course insulating your exterior walls... in the long run you'll save a lot of money with these methods. and looking at the big picture it reduces our dependency on oil (even though all these energy saving methods contain or are made using energy from oil). it would also be a great stimulus for the economy assuming it's not outsourced.

let's not forget China is not waiting for us to do these things. they are already the largest PV solar panel manufacturer and they've recently started building the so-called "clean coal" plants that we keep boasting about.

maybe the "aliens" that will save us from the energy problem will be chinese soon if we don't act now

From the article link:

The power source, he said, chronicled in a report Greenwire did on the subject, behind a flying saucer the weight of a tractor-trailer which hurtles through galaxies at 20,000 miles per hour is astronomical.

Are you serious?

20,000 MPH?

That is so pathetically slow it is hardly worthy of further comment.

Anyway, it's all a nice fantasy, or plot for a Sci-Fi movie... The reality is likely much different. If you are putting your hopes in ET technologies to save us and the planet you will likely be very disappointed.

If you look at the advances we've had in technology over the last century alone as well as advances in science and physics there simply isn't enough advancement there to suggest that we humans have obtained alien or extraterrestrial technology. It is simply silly to assume that we have it and will not use it for any reason. We are likely many thousands of years away from developing the ability to travel across space faster than the speed of light (if even possible) If a spacecraft was captured and had the ability to do that, given the potential energy requirements alone the source of that energy would have been exploited by now, if it had some kind of advanced weaponry that too would have been used by the military, ANYTHING and everything this possible find could provide us would have already been exploited.

If you think that any of our current technology has come from an alien craft then you are underestimating our own abilities... And by most experts predictions we are no where close to being considered an "advanced race of beings" in this universe. We are still quite primitive.

Perhaps when we evolve more, and our own technology advances to the point where "they" take notice of us, then maybe they will contact us and share with is... Until then, I am sure they think of us as an oddity, an entertaining zoo like exhibit to observe and study from a safe distance.

my point exactly. the Chinese have a huge country. same with Russia... their odds of getting their hands on a UFO are similar to any western country. if the US has any flying saucers then China or Russia would too. why would they keep it a secret? they would have destroyed the US a long time ago during the cold war. instead all they could do is MIG dogfights and submarine crazy Ivan's... or the reverse - the whole eastern block and china would have been wiped out by the west - if they had any alien tech.

people should stop fantasizing about aliens being here and trading tech with the govt. our current technology is not at all special or originated in outer space. it's all the result of people who worked their behinds in long hours, no weekends, obsessive competition with fellow scientists for the big prize. and we should appreciate that and contribute what we can.

IF he found that stuff why not save it all and distribute it immediately to the world?

He was on a 56K dial-up modem and could not spend the time DLing it.

Some of the files were many megabites - many, many.

That's why.
