Really? What universe are you in? Because I'd really like to know if there are any seats available for me?

I am in the Milky Way and in this galaxy called the Milky Way is a place called Earth and on this Earth there are many lifeforms one being called the human being. Loam, you are in luck because there is a seat available for you and the spaceship is leaving and headed for Earth, please buckle up. Now some say human beings are the most intelligent of all the species on Earth but many will disagree.

Among these human beings there are a strange breed called politicians. This strange breed of human beings called politicians have a hard time telling the truth but they all mean well.

These politicians have something dear to them and it is called a promise. This thing called a promise is remembered by human beings in a country called The United States of America when one is made. There is a big problem when politicians make promises they do not keep, but a very insignificant problem to the politician they think.

Now these human beings have a brain and they store promises in a memory called the brain and when these promises are made and they are not kept by the politicians something happens to the brain in human beings. It is called extreme anger and when a group of human beings get together this anger can escalate and these humans take their anger out at the voting booth by voting these politicians out of office.

There are human beings that get together and protest against promises that are not kept and promises that are kept that they disagree on made by these human being politicians. So loam there is a seat for you where ever you want to sit or fit in.

As I recall though Obama stated in his campaign numerous times that all troops would be withdrawn by 2011. His repeated this in his campaign numerous times for over a year before he was elected as president. He stated that he would begin withdrawals by 2009. No little technicalities, thats what he promised.

Lets see now... it aint 2011 yet, so why yall jumping out of your skin?

ummm correct me if i am wrong- and i will take it if i am- but i remember him "promising" this but just after he became president i read somewhere that he was going to send an additional 30,000 or so troops over to the middle east. doesn't sound like a pull out to me. i wonder if that silver tongue was actually born outside of the USA? still waiting for that proof also

additional troops to afghanistan? Sounds to me like his resuming the war against Osama, ya know the one that attacked our nation back in 9/11? Or did you completely forget that?

You know what you probably did forget our war against Osama in Afghanistan like the rest of the fringers here. The Iraq war did its job distracting you, despite how obvious it was that the reasoning behind the Iraq invasion was all a lie.

I predict that we will still have combat troops in Iraq in 8 years. So much for Obama and his promises. I am sure that he will have good excuses...read that reasons for us to stay on.

I am wondering what kind of logical gymnastics his supporters are prepared to go through to explain why he is breaking every campaign promise?

Then I am absolutely certain the universe I presently live in is not the one you describe.

Where I come from, accountability simply doesn't exist.

You have two days sir!

Sadly, you will marginalized as an obama basher and then we will hear of excuses like "it takes time to achieve goals" and "you should give him a chance" or "it has only been a few months" type of tired rhetoric.

You will be called "right wing" or "conservative" and the usual divide and conquer mentality that everyone falls for.

Same old song and dance, dog and pony show.

Geez, it gets so tiring.

Fact: politicians lie (ProfEmeritus is right on)
Fact: republicrats and demicans never were true to party ideology
Fact: party politics serves to divide the country so that TPTB remain in control

I am reminded by the wonderful satire of Douglas Adams in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when he states that the President of the Galaxy's (symbolism for POTUS) job to to divert attention from what is really going on and who is really in control.

He was spot on. obama will not be much a surprise to anyone or get anything of significance done. Scandal and misdeeds, however, will be plentiful.

Yes, you predict, just like the rest the conservatives here. All you do is predict and assume. Id hold my money till after 2 years or so into his term.

So much for Obama and his promises.

Based on a prediction or assumption of yours? Is that really accurate?

no i did not forget that- and as much as i am going to be berated i agree we should get osama. i have friends over there also.

what i am saying is he promised to get our troops out to get support and elected and has now reneged on that(no pun intended)- and just used that magic silver tongue witha teleprompter anytime he has to answer a question that wasn't already staged.

i love seeing him squirm and evade questions that he didn't know would come up

Yes, by 2011. As much as he and many liberals such as myself oppose the war there needs to a gradual withdrawal so that we can assume we dont just leave the place as is. He promised a phased withdrawal with all troops by 2011. I really fail to see how he went back on that promise, unless you can see the future, which Id assume you and nobody else here can.

There is none in my world either. It seems that me and my immediate family are the only one's who believe in accountability.

None in the workplace either.

It is almost like we fell into an alternate universe where accountability vanished never to be seen again.

I'm sure there are those out there who can deliver a tally of the promises made and broken for any of the past presidents, but seriously, has there ever been a president with such complete lack of regard for the people he's supposed to represent?

I mean SERIOUSLY!

Hope and change?
What was the HOPE? I HOPE I get elected? I HOPE no one catches onto me before the election? I HOPE I can fool all these sheep? I HOPE I turned the stove off before we left Chicago?

CHANGE? By that did he mean, we can CHANGE the Constitution! We can CHANGE the concept of socialism! I want all americans to be left with nothing but CHANGE! Lets CHANGE our ideas about rights, salaries, freedoms, taxes, banking rules, gun laws, immigration laws, ... that CHANGE?

I will respect the office of the presidency (hell, I did it when Clinton was in office) but there is NO LAW that says I have to respect the man.

My prediction is based upon history. The US has a history of staying too long.

Case in point. We still have combat troops in Germany, Japan, Korea, and Bosnia.

Please state your case clearly and point out the places where we made an orderly withdrawl on schedule?

Dude, you must be my neighbor!

I think the biggest challenge for me now is to accept the fact that our electorate is simply too feeble minded to understand how they have just given it all away over the last few decades.

Moreover, I'm afraid that as things progress, threads like this one come dangerously close to complaining water is wet.

Oh well.

Maybe I get to be born in one of the lucky universes next time.

On the subject of Obama and his promises.

Can you point me to the website where he is posting all the legislation that is before Congress? I would like to read the bills 48 hours before they are voted on, just like Obama promised!

I would also like to know how a lobbyist like Rahm Emanuel ended up as White House Chief of Staff? I thought that there weren't going to be any lobbyists in the Obama cabinet? Never mind the chief member of the cabinet.

I would also like to know when I am going to get that tax cut, you know the one that 95% of Americans are going to get?

Need I go on?

A politician broke a campain promise? I do not believe it! I am shocked! I am appauled!

Seriously though, I am not at all surprised he was not able to keep this promise. March 31 2009 was an unrealistic date anyway, It takes time to pull out safely.

If I recall correctly he has also said befoe he was elected that he would take the troops out of iraq and put them into afghanistan, and he seems to be keeping that promise so far. he is atleast putting more troops in Afghanistan.

Now what I want to know is, what will happen with Osama Bin Laden? There were quite a few videos that were supposed to be him that looked NOTHING like him. I will be surprised if we find him alive.

Is President Obama going to find Osama? Whether that means his dead body or him alive, will we ever find him? It seems like we may not, consediring there are lots of people there willing to harbor him and aid him in any way neccasary.

I am getting off track though, That campain promise is just the same old song and dance. All politicians promise you the world. They make promises they know they cant keep. They will say ANYTHING to get elected. Obama was good at saying the right thing at the right time. No one ever accused him of being a bad speaker....

They said this on fox for years.

If that wasn't a satirical post than I feel sorry for America.

If people really still think like that then we might as well put bullets in our heads now.

Just looking at your former posts..it looks pretty obvious.

Are you that nuts that you have to make another profile to act like a moron?

Is anyone else seeing this?
