unlikely, the video is pretty old. It pre-dates the popular cgi era - it was aired in 1995 on tv. And besides, if you mastered CGI, would you make something indescribable as this? I'd create something more familiair like a metalic saucer or cigar shaped thing..

but maybe this deserves it's own thread.

That "lensing effect" can also be caused by high reflectivity of the object itself, like a silver sphere or a ball magent, it too inverts the image or light reflected upon it.

Inside the shuttle? How are you so sure of that? If this was inside the shuttle, why do we not see the inverted reflection of the inside of the shuttle, but see the inverted reflection of the Earth??????????

Just look close at the beginning. Stop at 11 sec. go on from there. Tailrotor swings -glimpses of the rotorhead. The helicopter is doing most of it's work climbing.

There's a lot of stuff in there. To me, some of that stuff might - might be ice crystals. Nonetheless, some of it is definitely not. The tether was, if memory serves, over 10km long and you can see whatever it is (it looks like a disc with a hole and a notch in it) pass behind the tether, very clearly. It's in the video I posted.

Just because some of the objects might be ice crystals does not mean that all of the objects are ice crystals.

They could well be Chuck Norris, who is now going to be my default explanation for anything weird.

However one of the thrilling moments is certainly the 8:03 mark.
