Here we go again, America. Barack Obama plans to ram the biggest tax increase in history - carbon taxes, aka 'Cap and Trade' - down our throats by using a procedural trick known as 'reconciliation'.

What is reconciliation? Well, it sounds innocent enough:

foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com...

Reconciliation is part of the budget process that makes it easier to achieve deficit-reduction goals by making changes to taxes and entitlement policy-but it can also be abused to make major policy changes.

But it can be abused. How?

Putting cap-and-trade in reconciliation would be a procedural short cut that would allow it to pass in the full Senate without proper debate and with just 50 votes needed instead of the usual 60 votes. On this issue, with 60 votes required, it’s a dog fight. With 50, it’s a relative walk in the park for Harry Reid and his high-tax allies, including President Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Fortunately, there is a core of Congresscritters that oppose using reconciliation.

A bill of this magnitude demands that all aspects of it be examined and debated, and that the American people are informed of it's ramifications at every step of the process.

But, if Obama gets his way, you can be assured that he cares not for your voice or your well-being. He will do what he wants to get his way.

His promises of transparency, bipartisanship, and open discussion are nothing more than empty lies he used in order to get elected.

What can be done? Let Kent Conrad know how you feel. Let your own Reps and Senators know how you feel. Don't take this sitting down!

Haven't we been screwed enough with Tarp and the Omnibus bill?

Obama promised that anyone making less than $250,000 would not see a tax increase, and in fact, should see a decrease in their taxes. What he didn't tell us was that he would add taxes, in the form of cap and trade, to electricity, natural gas, and gasoline. That means that there will be added costs on anything which uses these products in their manufacture. This is just one sign of things to come. When inflation hits, followed by hyperinflation, how will we pay for anything?
Obama and his aides, especially Rahm Emanuel, should be kicked out of office NOW!

I tried to believe my friends who believed in this megalomaniac that it would all be ok. That other "bad" presidents have come and gone and how bad could it be really?

OMG, it is worse beyond what I even could have imagined. This man does stand for Change, but, change from a capitalistic society to a broke one with a mish mash of socialism and tyranny

This bill will directly impact the poor the most. How will they pay for heat? Do poor live in homes that are well insulated with new heat/air units? No, they don't. Double their heat/cooling bills and wow.

My MIL and a good friend of mine both live in 100 year old homes. They were not expensive homes, but, they are beautiful in old home ways. Both paid about $750 a month this winter to heat them. Neither are well off.

We already have elderly people dying from their electric being turned off, now we want to impose an insane tax? Maybe we should not have spent TRILLIONS on failing car companies and banks and we wouldn't have to be resorting to cap and trade!

I regard any Carbon Trading Emission as an assault on peoples freedom of movement . Just look who us profiting from the global warming hoax governments can find new excuses to tax commerce and people , and the corporate elites get to control the worlds food supply via the use of bio fuels .

So your answer is to assault the people who have different political beliefes than you? It sounds like we should be more worried about you than Obama.

There have been many people who wanted to hurt others who were different them them.

Certain groups and people that come to mind are, Hitler, KKK, Aryan nation, neo-nazis etc...

The thought of you wanting to take a whole group of people and hurt them just because their political beliefs differ from your own, well, that is scary.

It sounds like you should go seek some help! Before you go and turn your city into the next Waco!

For the record, I am not all that crazy about Obama either, but please, Get some help before you do something crazy! Such as trying to hurt all people who support Obama!

Well I am out of here for now so I wont have a chance to respond to the certain onslaught of posts against me that I will undoubtably get. Will I will have a chance but it wont be for a while. so waste your time if you want, No skin off my back!

Actually, the original post is misleading in at least one aspect.

You made emphasis to the line that the bill could pass with 50 votes instead of the "normal" 60 votes.

60 votes is only needed when a filibuster is involved. If no filibuster is involved, the "normal" votes needed is a simple majority. The article is wrong quoting 50, because the actual number is 51. It is actually normal process for budgets to be this type of vote.

As far as the bill raising electricity rates, it might in those states that do not have electricity regulated, like Texas. But you know, Texas pays higher rates for electricity ever since the good old deregulation.

Also, the stimulus bill included funds to poor people to weatherize their homes (insulation, new windows etc).

So, I'm wondering if any of you have any suggestions on how to reduce carbon emissions? So far asking these companies to reduce emissions hasn't done the trick.

Its OK if liberals hurt others by taxing us to the point of taking food off our families tables, allowing those that are here illegally to take our jobs while forcing us to pay for their health care, and demonize those who still believe in the constitution while eating away at our rights?

Dollars that will be taken away from us for carbon trades could just as well be spent on sending our kids to college or planning for retirement.

There’s only one way to end this unchecked corruption, we need to paralyze the U.S. Federal Puppet Government and its GREEDY Illuminati handlers.

Passive resistance is our only hope.

Study the extremely effective techniques that Mahatma Gandhi (en.wikipedia.org...) employed against the Illuminati, and begin applying them in your community TODAY!

Here's an idea guy....let go of your hatred. " snip." As for Obama "ramming "anything" through anything. You should catch up to the fact that our President is more or less a figurehead with very little power in and of himself. He isn't evil, isn't the anti-Christ, isn't the harbinger of the end times.

You know? As much as I loathed Bush for the ignorant, damned near illiterate redneck he was, and for the policies that his "Administration" put into effect, I always thought he'd be a cool guy to sit back, barbecue, and drink a beer or two with. That's called "stepping outside of your hatred". Try it out.

"But, if Obama gets his way, you can be assured that he cares not for your voice"

Our voices were the ones that put him into office, both by popular AND Electoral votes. Yours just happens to have been one of the dissenting views.

edited because good manners are required by the T&C you agreed to abide by.

This would be an important reason why you should "Know" who you vote for. Not saying you did as I don't know.

But all you had to do was look at the very little record he had, who he surrounded himself with and this is what we now have.

When you voted for Bush, we should have known that we where getting someone trying to impress his Tyrannical Dad. I met that A-hole! Bush Sr. that is.

Oddly enough, I liked Bush Sr. and agreed with his governance. Jr.? Not the coldest beer in the fridge.

This President, pure and simple, is a slime-ball. He has tried to sneak so much crap:

--Democrat Pork called "Stimulus"
--Fairness Doctrine under the guise of "local radio only" rules which will be attempted by the new FCC.
--The constant lies about "not knowing" about people around him.

They'll wonder why even more businesses go under, why nobody will hire additional workers, and so forth if he tries to.......

KEEP TAXING BIG BUSINESS TO DEATH!

He is a monkey in a suit (and to hell with you if you think that is racist!)

Surely obama would not lie to the American people when it comes to taxes. It would be down right Unamerican and nonpresidential to do so.
