UFO Stories (and Threads) On Steep Decline

Just wanted to point out the obvious - there is a severe lack of UFO stories floating around of late. In fact, so far in 2009 there have only been 4 threads on ATS in the Aliens and UFO category.

Obviously if there are no sightings, this is good news - in other words it doesn't appear as if these stories are being published just to attract attention the way this thread is intended to do.

Where are you Hoagland? Where are you, Linda Moulten Howe?

Just a boring few weeks I suppose, but I'm always checking these threads for the next big story, and if there is any story out there you know of, but not yet published on ATS, make sure you link it soon!

I miss good UFO siting stories.

It probably has to do with the fact that almost all UFO threads are jumped on and flamed immediatly upon submission.

"Thats Venus","Thats Photoshopped" etc...

It seems everyone wants to prove how much smarter they are than the poster that no real discussion ever actually happens!

I still enjoy ATS and have learned alot here but sometimes ya'll just piss me off.

Considering we are in the midst of a world wide recession/depression, perhaps many are more focused on simply surviving and keeping a roof over their heads and food on the table;

also, over the recent months, posting in this forum isto automatically run a gauntlet of naysayers and mind numbed self appointed lords of reality that are going to either de-rail each thread or hound the op to the point many will not even consider starting a thread

and forget posting any kind of evidence, for the screams of photo shop and cgi rattle the windows, so, what is the point?

I think most people have just accepted them as a fact. No big deal. They are real and let's just get on with our lives. I only have a passing interest in looking for them now, since my research and my own sightings confirm that something unexplained and much more advanced than our current technology exists. And that our government doesn't want us to panic over the confirmation, so they do all they can to try and hide it, along with those who don't "want to believe."

Well hopefully Civility and Decorum will make a comeback and there will be less yelling and personal attacks.

People's standards have increased....with higher megapixel ratings people expect better footage. And with the throng of shakey videos....people expect true hunters to carry around a tripod. But then if the video looks too good....it looks fake....and so continues the endless cycle that just tends to piss you (and me) off.

That is our most powerful weapon against the "status quo remain in my tiny box" types.

Its impossible to change their minds, but they also know that its impossible to change ours too..that upsets them to no end.

Ha, I found it funny when I posted this - I was positive that I would get ZERO responses for that very reason. (or was I just being negative?!)

Fact is, I'm just a sci-fi lover like a lot of you folks, and more than I'd admit - I have not exactly fallen, but I've looked for more information than I probably needed.

To the naysayers, all I can say is being a critical is one thing... but it's a totally different thing to just keep a healthy perspective and look for truth. It sucks that even saying that is so damn cliche.

It's not just ATS that has suffered from differing views. I have written for a Citizen Journalism site for 3 years. I have written tons of articles for them and now... in the last couple months especially, things have headed south in the worst way. Gone is my thrill to write there anymore. Gone is interest in writing for the site. Gone is the wonderment of finding that one topic, going off and submitting it to that particular site, which has simply been a labour of love. ATS is suffering a similar fate - and I'm glad some of you are stepping up to address the situation. Differing views are simply underrated by site masters, people getting labeled socialists, or people screaming at the top of their lungs to make points - it is discouraging, but UFOlogy is something that will refuse to be overcome by close-mindedness.

Just don't try talking about ATS at work! Or at the gym! Or... well I could ramble all night, but I won't.

Yes I think the SO is the best, most smartest, decider that ever decided to tell us what and how to post. That being said, I applaud him for trying to keep it a decent site for everyone.

You hit the nail on the head there but what else can you expect from a forum like this, there will always be negatives jumping in to ruin the day and I do not mind if something is proven a haox but its way its done.

Also as you commented not all stories are proven or debunked correctly by the end of the thread.

Something is different....

- less UFO reports generally, just a few "mainstream media" articles
- less chemtrail activity reported from various parts of the world....
- bad attituate towards UFO stories - we are letting the propoganda win

I have a few different takes on this.....

1) If a lot of our UFO sightings and chemtrails are of human origin - it simply be a $$ ££ budget problem -- running out of money for operations ! now that would be revealing !

2) People are depressed/oppressed by the state of the world and not looking anymore - rather staring at their shoes is fear/dispair etc thinking of financial survival

3) Waiting for new instructions from change of government ?

4) The DESTRUCTION of UFO research is succeeding - too many hoaxes and money grabbing researchers discrediting the whole topic - and for someone who has a genuine encounter with little data or no good photo to show, getting laughed at and dismissed. I am sure we are missing the real stuff becuase of dismissal of poor pictures etc . The truth is in what people do not want us to see - of course the perfect photo and video is fake ! the rough video from the mobile phone whilst out walking the dog is more likely to be real.... WE MUST NOT LET THE PROPOGANDA WIN.

5) People are getting tired and bored waiting for something to happen

6) Lull before the storm - I am sure something has been and is going on both extraterrestrial and Human created top secret equipment - if some stories are to be believed there could be a tension building up - a stand-off which could break at any time.

7) Several "high profile" researchers have gone quiet - what happenned to the disclosure program and greer ? all gone quiet over there.....

8) ATS losing its way - we need these forums to bring up anything going on - and look at it sensibly together and pull out the truth - whether it be a fake or something real - lets us find out - we need to work together to make this a place of truth and not let ATS go down becuase of "bad mouths" and deliberate destroyers.... being skeptical is good so long as we change our mind when data tells a different story ! SERIOUSLY - we need to bring some fresh energy and life into ATS on UFO research and I am prepared to do what I can to sort between truth and mistake and fake and "have not got a clue "!

I have noticed several threads where somone has been telling a story which is difficult for them to tell, only to get jumped on very harshly, I have sometimes u2u'd people to not give up and to continue to tell their story - and in some of these cases - there is where the truth lies - in that person who has had an experience (which they are not happy about), that makes them feel vulnerable, and need the encouragement and support to tell their story. This is very different to the attention seekers with their "I am an alien or I am a time traveller" stories....

Let us keep making this the place to be to get the truth !

Good post alf, but i might add a couple of things....

Its winter over the nothern hemisphere so not a lot of folks are outside looking up and also its often overcast or foggy.

You pretty much covered everything though and i have noticed a decline in sightings myself, dunno what it is but what rattles me is the amount of bird or chinese lanterns that get reported as ufo sightings, kinda puts me off when people debate obvious misidentifications.

All good points (I particularly subscribe to a constant Calm Before The Storm philosophy... hasn't panned out yet, but I'm still at attention most of the time...) and as such, it just would seem this was a site built for the lookers, explorers, those that have a deep wonder for the weird, the absurd, the unsolved.

None of us would want what we've always dreamed of (well, some of us anyway...) to be so easily dismissed. I don't care how disclosure will affect bible thumps, I don't care if a mass UFO scared some people, and I sure as hell don't care if all the haters were the first ones to get zapped into some sort of space/time continuum.

I'm just a sucker for a good story and the imaginative, hopeful, positive side this site has to offer. Let facts be facts. But like my other writing site I mentioned earlier (and probably like the millions of others just like it) I am founding a theory that this must be some kind of human nature thing. Like the gorillas in 2001, there are those who are just going to think they've found a power to trump all others - but, as stated in this thread and many others - there's no ultimate weapon larger than the 1st hand experience, and as such, many of the stories go unsolved.

My favorite story is the massive object that slammed into the ocean in South Africa a couple years ago (damn I can't believe it's been that long, but I'll find a link in a minute....) - had ONE news report and rumors there would be interviews, etc etc... alas, nothing. Gone. Let me go find that link if you don't recall...

And...

Dream on. Propaganda (also mentioned properly in this thread...) can be worse than the idol hands it falls upon.

Sounds good, RFB; I have read a lot of your posts, and commend you on your tenacity and sand; just aggravates me at times that too many would rather turn everything into a pissing match instead of a debate-able discussion;

I accept that those that have had nothing in the way of sightings cannot accept what others have seen, and the majority of us do not walk around with a camera or vidcam to hand at all times;

but I would like to see one or two of the die hard debunkers have an up close and un-explainable sighting, just so they could walk on this side of the fence for awhile.

Just wish theyd hurry the flock up and say hello, same goes to new world order if you gonna do us in or take over - get it over with already (i suppose maybe they have started). Whats all this waitin around and carefull planning for, were all gonna die anyway.

I always visit This place for the latest sightings/stories,only when ATS is quite mind.

I think that overall the decline in interest in the UFO topics is healthy, as it shows that people are focusing on more down to earth conspiracies that actually hurt them, such as the NWO scam. Not that the UFO issue is irrelevant, but we have more pressing and urgent problems to deal with, and alien contact, imho, is a personal endeavour, not a group thing, as we simply don't have a civilization peacefull and healthy enough to merit contact with more evolved beings at that level.

Might be sad to realise, but I believe this is what is going on. We are awakening to ourselves, and we don't cut it quite yet.

does ATS have a way of pulling out stats for each month on how many threads on UFO's or sightings there have been.... maybe January is a month with less sightings....just an idea???
