Republican Party officials say they will try next month to pass a resolution accusing President Bush and congressional Republican leaders of embracing socialist policies, underscoring deep dissension within the party at the end of Mr. Bush's administration.

Those pushing the resolution, which will come before the Republican National Committee at its January meeting, say elected leaders need to be reminded of core principles. They said the RNC must take the dramatic step of wading into policy debates, which have traditionally been left to lawmakers.

This proposal also opposes Obama's proposed stimulus package meant to get the public works moving again.

This seems to be a movement to go on record as having the Republican party standing against ALL the bailouts, even though Congress approved the financial bailout. (Have I got that right?)

Sounds like the Republican party is staging a revolution. I've got to say, I don't see this as a bad thing for the party. Breaking away from the increase in government that Bush has been supporting is a positive change.

S&F

Its about time.

The RNC needs to stand firm cause there are alot of people in this country that have thier backs.

But what does this say about Obama? Buyers Remorse?

BH! Great post S&F'd.

Amazing that they would 'allow' such dissent to even become public. Perhaps there's hope for a Moderate Constitutional presence in the party; or maybe ... dare I say it? A new(er) party? It's like Baskin Robins, more flavors - same contents.

Now this is the Republican Party America fell in love with for so long. Ever since Bush took office it has been very difficult trying to distinguish both political parties. I've always wondered what the hell happened to the Republicans on this angle. Hopefully the next round of R's will help shrink Bush's MASSIVE government expansion, and then some.

I don't care what party it's from. I don't care who is doing it. I just want to see some people rise up and show some damn anger. Is this just all for political ploy? It could be.

Republicans are hurting after the elections so now they will tell promises they won't frickin keep....just like every other political party before them. I'm sick of Democrats and Republicans.

We need something new. We need the old farts out of our government. Old blood is what got us into this mess. Lets get some young minds in there. Lets get some people with little to no political experience in there. I want some damn honest people working for our country.

I won't fall for the Republican BS. They have acted just the opposite the last 8 years as spending has gotten out of control.

I say...screw both parties....they don't really give a flying F about us anyway.

When they start making it mandatory that every person in our government can make only 40,000 grand per year with absolutely no other income whatsoever...and also to ban ALL lobbyists from government....then maybe i might be able to throw alittle trust to them.

But right now i think it's just foolish to put any faith into any of these jackasses, save for a select few.

I just don't get how people can get screwed over and over again yet continue to blindfully give hope and trust to these guys.

Sorry just a rant.

…..and when 2010 mid-terms roll around you can just bet that the Republicans will be saying how bad the bailout was and how they were against it and how the Democrats were for it. I know politicians think we the public have a short memory, and they have been right with that assertion but I think if they try that avenue it will back fire big time.

Who knows, maybe they are generally sincere about cutting government spending and getting the debt under control.

Dont discount the Ron Paul effect. Not quite the Revolution some of us were hoping for but at least it's something!! Some of the more aware republicans noticed the cash that flew Pauls way in a hurry and may realize we will support those that defend our constitution.

David, I hear your frustration and I concur. How about the American or Constitution Party? Regardless of name, we need a party that follows the principles the founding fathers wanted for the REPUBLIC.

I strongly believe Ron Paul had more impact than people give him credit for. What puzzles me is how many pundits laughed at him and are now saying how right he was.

Remember, first they laugh at you; then they listen; then you win.

remember the saying'''''''

get bit by a dog once, it's the dog's fault

get bit twice,,, and it's your fault!!!!!

sorry,,,, and yeah ron paul rocks

I very much like the work of Ron Paul and his efforts of a lifetime of bringing the consequences of these big government solutions like the recent bailouts to the attention of the congress when these items are on the floor for debate.

I think it inspires others too cowed by the spotlight or too compromised by their faith in this Trotskyist neocon agenda to stand up for what they get elected for namely their conservative values when they watch him rise in objection to such nonsense as this bailout.

We need a real fiscal conservative, socially liberal revolt in the Republican party. Call it the Ron Paul r3volution or the RP Factor I see more people standing up than ever before in the modern history of the party of Lincoln.

If I'm not mistaken, haven't the Democrats had CONTROL of congress since the midterm elections. I mean, they are all involved in one way or another but don't go pointing fingers when they all equally share blame.

First they're for the bail out, now they're against it!

Man where have I heard phrases like that before, hmmmm.

I guess they were pouting the entire time they were casting their votes.

99% of them will just say this to get elected and then just do more fascist stuff once they get in. Just like the democrats who said they would end the war. Voting records, principle, and integrity are our only defense from this sort of politics.

Seems the "pump and dump" strategy not only works in economics, but also in politics...

All these "constitutional" Republicans supported Bush all the time... disgusting.

This is all just the drama the naive public needs and will swallow once again.

The two party political system in America is highy corrupt.

Somebody, Somewhere, needs to do something like NOW!
Tomorrow will be too late. Anger can run deep, but go unverbalized.
I expected to hear some screaming of outraged americans, when
our Constitution waa sabbotoged....and just heard a lot of ''griping''.
Face it....We were sold out.

I've been writing my senators and my house rep since this bail out nonsense started. They consist of 2 republicans and 1 democrat. Maybe, just maybe, I and folks like me are having some kind of effect by flooding the people with mail.

If you want to keep your eyes on the bouncing ball, don't follow the news on Obama. That's where they want you to look. (my opinion).

I can't believe people are actually feeding into this nonsense. You are so desperately pathetic that you're looking for any savior and they know it. They're looking for votes and playing into the suckers. They know your # and have you read from front to back like a cheap book.

Anyone who actually believes anything that comes out of a politicians mouth or leaked from their PR sources isn't even worthy of breathing the same air as the rest of us. THEY are the evil of this world, using every wish, dream, hope and dollar of the American people to destroy those who put them there.

Every fool has his day. Watch a bunch of programmed robots.

EDIT to add: All this knowledge and not a single shred of common sense.
