I wanted to start a little thread of my own about Christmas and why you enjoy it and f you dont like it there is another thread to post your dislikes about the holiday while I respect your opinions about hating the holidays I please ask that you respect the thread and keep it positive. Ive had way too much negative energy lately and Im wanting some positive to boost my morale and Ive actually sought shelter here on BTS because ATS is out of control lately.

I wanted to post what it is I like about Christmas and its simple..This is my first official Christmas as a civilian and back in my hometown, I had been gone for so long. I already have my tree up and basically I like the cold weather, The great old christmas crooners like Mathis, Ives, Crosby. I love the decorations most. I cant wait to drive around a look at the decorated homes and just enjoy the spirit, I am on extended vacation from work now so I will doing alot of enjoying the holidays, I dont plan on spending outrageous amounts of money on gifts or battling shoppers at the stores, Just being by myself enjoying the lights and the season, and Im finally not surrounded my sand and war!!

It used to be driving around looking at all the decorations.

About 2 years ago though, it changed to watching my daughter look at all the decorations.

Cookies baking in the oven.

A Christmas Story.

My kids smiling from cheek to cheek.

Presents, presents and more presents.

Most of all my family and the love we've shared through the year and Christmas is the final touch of that love until next year.

Gotta love the Holiday season, huh..?

For me, it's all about self medicating in order to cope with relatives that make the Griswalds look sedate...

:w:

I also like the genuine expression on my nephews and nieces face when they open the presents I got them - 'cause my presents are second to none...

Basically, I like the strange mix of good times as well as the moments of tension...never a dull moment in Chappy's world.

WONDERFUL
absolutly wonderful

i am miss christmas

i really love it.

when i was i little girl my father used to trim the tree with real candles
which where lit on christmas eve
that was absolutly beautiful.

the sparkeling of light, the glitter, the tree
the music and the little bell which he used to ring to tell us christ child has brought the presents

when i grew older i just wanted to create the same magic
it is magic at christmas all around than my parents used to do

even i am not christian religious i own a nativity set
it is old, first owner was my great grand father over 100 years ago,, i am very proud of that!

the first christmas my ex-hubby and i had i got real candles as well.
but since we are owned by cats just standard electric chain of lights
but all over the tree.

and all over the house.

the smell of cookies in the house
the little secrets you have got
and the glance in the eyes of my son.
and sometimes when trimming the tree the cats sitting in it

and for sure the christmas carols
i love german carols and english carols
my favorite: "Süsser die Glocken nie klingen" - "Bells sound never a sweeter way"

when i used to go to church when i was a student at school, the last carol traditionally
Oh Du fröhliche - Oh thou joyful days

my all time favorite

AND:

Merry Christmas

There's no better satisfaction than actually completing the task, something which I have yet to achieve....71 my best, and then i threw up which is an automatic disqualification...lol

Bear in mind that its not as easy as it sounds, regardless of your drinking resume

For me it is mostly that we stop for just a little while to enjoy each other and not worry about the strife and stress in our lives. We act silly and childlike and think about others more. We only make our traditional Holiday foods only during the Holidays in my house, so there is no getting tired of them or taking them for granted. Its just a wonderful and "magical" time of year for me. I really love to feel like a kid again.

CMD18b- i also spent many years in the military and was rarely home for the holidays. I think I made it three times in 16 years. You really do appreciate them more when you don't get to truly enjoy them the way they were intended. Congratulations on returning to civilian life and having this Holiday season with your family.
