gdeed,
BRAVO! I have never seen anyone distill the essence of the destruction of Freedom and Liberty in such a powerfully eloquent way.

I am pasting that one to my wall. You are my mentor.

This economic "turndown" or "slowdown" as being defined by the republican president for the last two years is not something that happened overnight or in the last two years so your attempt to blame it on the democratic congress goes nowhere.

It could have been nipped two years ago; no one was paying attention, mostly the new congress, the ones who we pay to pay attention.

You also blame the democrats for the education system. This "No child left behind" is a real winner. Whose brilliant idea is that? Also, what major political party is constantly trying to reduce spending for education? For Headstart? For Pre-K?

Education in America gets more money than the military. Education begins at home. When the parents don't give a dam all the money in the world will not help.

I don't care if the citizens of this country are stupid as a sack of rocks....

If they pay taxes, they have the right to vote for whom ever they think will benefit them personally.

What is it about "no taxation without representation" that you don't understand gdeed?

You are just trying to pass off your ideology as intelligence. Won't work. Get used to it and quit whining.

The destruction of freedom and liberty are happening as we speak. Voters who don't have a grasp of why or who they vote for are sheep ready for shearing.

Education gets HOW MUCH? You are so bleedingly wrong that it makes me want to maim something. Why don't you do two minutes and ten seconds worth of research so you won't dribble out nonsensically incorrect statements.

US Federal Expenditures in 2007

More US Expenditure Information

Yes. The US is mired in rampant stupidity. THIS is an example of that stupidity. From spending almost SEVEN TIMES more on Defense Department (Department of WAR) spending than we do on Education. Defense is the #1 government expenditure year over year, followed by the Department of Revenue (IRS).

It also does not help that Americans are completely intolerant of anyone telling them (Individuals or groups alike) how bleedingly STUPID they are!

Most Americans who get criticized decide they don't LIKE being criticized, so they avoid criticsm likes it a damn plague. God only knows why nobody bothers to improve themselves in this bloody country, everyone socializes with people who are essentially bootlickers and if they aren't, out the window they go! Can't fraternize with someone who shows peers and the public how idiotic you are.

People need to be made to feel stupid. People need to accept that they are stupid, because just like a drug addiction, you can't overcome the problem if you won't ADMIT you have a problem.

The US revels in its stupidity. Anyone who actually is forthright about their intellect and intelligence gets snidely sneared at about their elitism and how arrogant and superior they are.

When people give you an example of how to be better, you spit at them! Because you revile that THEY are the better one and not YOU. You despise superior behavior, you despise treating you like an INFERIOR when you so clearly deserve it!

Next time someone speaks effetely and with eloquence, don't relish the internal revulsion you have for someone being linguistically elegant. If someone is more knowledgable in a topic than you are, bloody well RECOGNIZE that fact, don't argue about it like a goddamn moron. If you want to play cricket, get with the game! Research a topic if you would like to play with the big boys, but don't despise the big boys because you AREN'T one.

That brings society down, relishing the stupid and despising the intellectual. It brings everyone down to the stupid level, because who wants to be smart if everyone hates you for being smarter than them?

Well maybe you should care. But if it benefits you that those who vote know nothing about what they vote for then I guess you don’t mind.

If they pay taxes, they have the right to vote for whom ever they think will benefit them personally.

So should that be a requirement? There are a whole lot of voters that don't pay taxes, rich, middle class and certainly many on welfare

What is it about "no taxation without representation" that you don't understand gdeed?

I don't know, I pay taxes and the Democrats certainly don't represent me, and I vote at every election. I'm out numbered in my city, my state, and my country. My vote hasn't counted in a long time and may never count again the way things are going.

More than likely I under estimated how much schools actually get, it's probably twice what the military gets. And BTW. School funding comes from the cities, counties and states. Not the federal government. Well they might put some in.

If you have numbers that dispute that go ahead.

I will concede only the following.

Breakdown of School Numbers and Funding from 2003-04

it is probably likely that most local and state governments spend a significant amount of money on Educational expenditures. Without an actual state-by-state budget comparison in the amount of money being used and/or abused, I would not be able to make a definitive assertion on that matter.

But the fact of the matter remains that no way in hell is Education Spending exceeding Defense Spending. In that you would be abysmally, and painfully wrong.

The upkeep costs of overseas military expenditures by themselves probably grossly outweigh the per annum investment in our children's futures. If you pair that with a cultural maillaise which encourages stupidity over intellectualism, lowering the bar for standard intelligence, and schools organized more for the effort at churning out worker drones capable of only group-think mentality it is a wonder all the US mouthbreathers haven't all choked on their tongues.

Consider the rank of the United States in international comparisons. Whichever way you slice it, at best we are ranked near the bottom of the top 50. The most wealthy and powerful nation on earth, ranked as low as this? Something is being done wrong, and that something is in education AND culture.

There is an entire culture of stupidity, from Films that have merely a soup-skin thick layer of plot with bathroom humor and idiotic pop culture references, or the celebration of mediocrity and sameness.

If you want to rail abougt stupidity, actually address the reasons WHY we're all so stupid. It has nothing whatsoever to do with political affiliation (Although being affiliated with a party I would argue is a SYMPTOM of idiocracy).

If you want to throw out that people are stupid because they vote "LIBERAL" you unveil yourself as a moron who isn't arguing about stupidity as a problem, as much as disliking how many people tend to lean Liberal (Which can be stupid in itself, but all Liberals are not made of Cheese, and all Republicans do not smell like rhubarb, even if some may eat cheese or Rhubarb respectively).

It would essentially BE STUPID to argue that a persons position MAKES them stupid. If they can adequately defend their position, they ARE NOT. If you actually think they are, for the love of god and all that is holy, take a freaking logic class.

Very likely

I'm not wrong about the huge amounts of money squandered in our public schools. There are thousands of school districts in the United States all with budgets in the millions, you do the math. Our military expenditures are a drop in the bucket in comparison.

But I'm not against cutting our military budget. One sure way to do that is reinstate the draft and let people start earning their freedom for a change.

You can thank the teachers unions for that

I agree, that leftwing bastion in Hollywood propaganda machine has done wonders in dumbing down America

The two party system is certainly on the way out, the "take care of my a_ss system" has taken over.

I was a liberal until the Bolsheviks took over that party. "The due everything for me including think for me" party

You mean like reeducation camps like socialists and communists’ countries have? I think we call it public education here in America

Millions of Americans speak and understand English, but know little if anything about Capitalism and that governments don’t create money they get it from those who do create money, which is large and small companies. But they can vote and usually vote Democrat

Democrats love socialism. Socialism loves no one. In fact, people become burdens that the state has to take care of. People become cattle and are treated like cattle, but they have health care.

The numbers of the above are growing exponentially every year. The Republican Party may be extinct.

Wow. That may have been the most ignorant thing ive ever read. You just completely put EVERY old person and EVERY immigrant in a group as voting democratic. In actuality, elderly people usually vote republican because they have more conservative views.

As far as this country being stupid.. your calling the world stupid. America is a combination of every country and person. Your ancestors came here from somewhere else as well. That makes america a beautiful and inspiring place, and that's why so many want to come to america. Because we give a chance to everyone. To any ethnicity. To any person.

Don't call that stupid. You are the reason that republicans are given a bad name.

I came from another country too.

So true. That's why it is important to understand what makes this country great. Which is a free economic system, the system that is under attack by Democrats.

Don't call that stupid. You are the reason that republicans are given a bad name.

Actually it's democrats that give republicans a bad name with mucho lies.

The whole aspect of politics and voting, is that people are able to vote for what they believe in. You can't categorize liberals as being a certain way. Just like I wouldnt categorize all republicans as thinking the same way.

I think you can admit, just as most in this country, that we need a change of pace in order to get back on track. The president we have had for the last 8 years has not made our country grow. He has only put us in a hard place. I mean the economy is awful, jobs are so hard to come by, even for the simplest job. I know that much first hand. The american dollar is crumbling. And we continue to butt our ways into other countries affairs and get involved with wars, when we shouldnt be.

You have to see that we need a change. Whether it be from a republican president, or a democratic president... we need change.

Some believe more taxes are good for the economy (liberals) some believe less taxes are good for the economy (republicans)

Some people hate corporation, those things that create most of the jobs in America (liberals) some believe corporations are good, they create jobs and put money into people's pockets (republicans)

Some people believe themselves to be victims (liberals) some people believe that we should take responsibility for our actions (republican)

Granted there is some crossover but not much.

The country is run by the congress the house and the senate. If anyone is a fault they are, and the democrats are the majority in both those houses.

You have to see that we need a change. Whether it be from a republican president, or a democratic president... we need change.

We certainly do need a change; we need more republicans in congress. That's not going to happen because most voters don't understand the issues and vote democrat. It's like shooting holes in a sinking boat, it don't make much sense, that's why I say America is stuck in stupid.

Our country was doing VERY well before a republican was put into office.

How can you not admit that? No matter what political views you have, you must see that this country went downhill the second we got bush as a president.

But thats the main difference between you and I. Whereas I am still open to having a republican president, as long as they got this country where it needs to be... you would never vote for a democrat because you are set in your ways of believing all democrats are the same.

Thats the problem with our country. No one is open minded enough to hear out both parties.

One of the reasons I think that America is stuck in stupid, is because a lot of people, instead of using independent thinking rely on Rush, Sean, Savage and other GOP mouthpieces; do thier thinking for them.

Ideology is strange like that. It works both ways.

Do you think the members of ATS are stupid?
