One of my favorite movies this past year was The Bucket List. The Bucket List is a 2007 comedy-drama film written by, directed by Rob Reiner and starring Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Sean Hayes, Beverly Todd, and Rob Morrow. The story follows two terminally ill men (Nicholson and Freeman) on a road trip with a wish list of things to do before they "kick the bucket."

As I was watching this again last night a comment is made in the Special Features that one person’s list at 60 may be wildly different from someone that is 20. I started thinking about this and carried it even a bit further. I believe that not only would a person’s age make a difference, but also whether they were male or female, straight or gay, Republican or Democrat, Christian or Atheist.... and on and on.

Of course, I do not necessarily want you to Open Your Soul if you are uncomfortable with that..... but I decided I would start and give my personal details along with my list. Some of you may only want to give one or two things (like male or female, etc.).

PLEASE LIMIT IT TO NO MORE THAN YOUR

TOP TEN!

MY BUCKET LIST

Please keep in mind... there is NO PARTICULAR ORDER.

I'm glad that you initiated this. After watching the film, I meant to sit down and write out my "bucket list" but it entirely slipped my mind. I think it'll be interesting to read the lists of other ATS users; I'll post my own if and when I actually sit down and do it. For some reason, I feel reluctant to--it's almost as if doing so would force me to acknowledge that I really will one day "kick the bucket."

Great thread Dave!

This isn't something i take lightly...I've thought about this often although I've never really written it down...

Off the top of my head, here is my list...

To visit every continent on the planet, and as many countries as possible. Top of my list are Russia, Patagonia, Nepal.

To cross the Atlantic in an ocean liner...old style!

To build my own self sufficient house in the Highlands

To become really fluent in as least one other language instead of just little bits.

To build my own out in the woods altar space where I can meditate and spellcast to my little hearts content.

To live off my own home grown vegetables and beans. And to keep chickens.

To develop my spiritual connection into something really useful to other people.

To write and record many more meditations, and see where that leads....

hmm.....a complete fantasy...to be a scary vampy witch in a marilyn manson video....;-)

I'm sure there are about a hundred more.....

And I hope you get loads of posts....it's a really good way of making your dreams come true...write them down, and focus on them.

Lots of love!

Cait

New Zealander (Maori)

1. Get my Diving Instructor certification

2. Drive hell-for-leather around Bathurst racetrack in Australia

3. Check out Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona. (US)

4. Check out and get a photo of me standing beside the Groom Lake 'keep out blah blah' sign.

5. Visit and walk around Stonehenge. Stay overnight close by if allowed...even within it.

6. World trip...lots of place and people I'd love to see.

7. Have (well, my wife would be having, but you know what I mean) and raise a wonderful child - or children if we are so blessed. Be a good father and hopefully not mess them up too much that they require therapy well into their 30s or 40s.

8. Be debt free. Getting there.

9. Be *called* to the level of Tohunga (google it)

10. Pass on with no sense of regret or dispondancy, with no hate or anger, with no sadness, no fear, no doubts about anything...for my mind to be silent...and for my family and loved ones to be at peace.

I tell you what, Sedona is one of the most amazing places I have ever seen.
I really suggest making an effort to go there. And make sure you add sliding rock park to your itinerary.
I wish I could live there, but too many people have.

Then head north to Flagstaff.

8- Sky dive.

HA! We have something in common.

I went skydiving a few times when I was 18 or so. It was great fun.
The thing that hit me was it was so QUIET up there!
I tried talking as I was floating, but I could barely hear myself.
The words floated away and there wasn't anything to hold them there.

I'd love to go again, but I'm too old and my health wouldn't allow it.

If you get a chance ... GO! It's amazing!
