4) Derailing threads with elitist, condescending opinions not only isn't cool, it's against the rules.

Merely an observation my friend.

You can think it's condescending if you like, but it's not true. I addition, I am about as far from elite as you can get.

I interject in the attempt to raise the level of dialog. This has been supported often so I'm not terribly concerned.

Just keep it in mind. It's much better reading and provides a much better discussion. Feel free to PM me if you need clarification or have a question. I don't mind.

Enjoy,
KJ

Congrats to the Republican on a good second night. Great speech from Mr. Thompson.

One thing that bothered me about the convention as I was watching it was the dynamics of the crowd. This party does not really reflect the true dynamics of America.

I saw very few minorities and very few young adults there tonight

What I saw was a Party of Old White Folks. The Majority looked to be over 40 and white. It looks like the republican party represents a different America and not the America I know.

I don't know; It just gave me a bad vibe. When I watched the Democratic Convention I saw something Different. I saw people of all races, I saw young and old, I saw people of all differences coming together for one cause and that was the cause of Change.

Thanks.

If I need further clarification I will PM you. I can also give you links to about 3,235 threads that need intervention as well.

Most of them can be summarized by the OP saying, "Republicans Baaad..... Obama Goooood...."

Followed by dozens of other posts saying "You right.... Republicans baaaaad.... Dems gooooood..... You disagree? You baaaaaad too.... You agree? You goooood too..."

Has he promised to minimize the stiflingly overwhelming federal government in order to give the states back their rights to legislate themselves? Has he promised anything that would return America to the Constitutional Republic form of government that it was founded as?

Why are you so sure he can and will do this?

I think if that was his goal there would be some evidence of it prior to running for POTUS, no?

Or is he just one more political ahole who thinks he knows more than the founders of this nation?

I am afraid I think so.

Now, what makes you believe I'm wrong?

My opinion would be that you are taking his promises for granted.

I think now socialize may have been the wrong word, but the alternative "We simply change to a liberal form of the farce that is our government" felt a bit long winded and put one to many "Change"s in my post.

Socialism has never been successful, which is not far from where many liberals stand today.

I believe you have me confused with someone who actually supports Obama.

Attendence tonight was minimal due to Gustav(in part).

Check it out tomorrow, and you'll see a more lively bunch - Palin and McCain will both be speaking so you know tonight was lackluster. The speeches were great though.

Same thing for the DNC convention - first night flat but the speeches were mediocre at best.

Tonight at the RNC thousands protested.... hundreds of Police were needed for security and millions of dollars spent on security.

A short while back Obama spoke at the very same venue (the Excel Energy Center Arena). There were thousands outside then too however they were supporters overflowing from a packed house to hear him accept the nomination. The only police needed for this event were traffic cops.

See the difference?

My full report on the RNC day two protest and concert is here: I WAS THERE: The protest march on the RNC in Saint Paul 9-2-08: FULL REPORT
