Why was ATS down for over 4 hours today?

I tried to access ATS at several different times today and it has only just come back up online now, after more than 4 hours. The error message said it was an Internal Server error, what was the problem? Will it happen again or is the problem solved?

I was frequently redirected to a page indicating the server was undergoing routine maintenance and to try again later. Routine maintenance I believe.

Complex websites need periodic maintenance that is difficult to perform while people are crawling all over it. So you pick a relatively low traffic period (like Sunday Morning USA EST), and do what you have to do.

It seems to be ongoing!

When ATS goes down, thats when the NWO is taking over, we just know it is!!!

At about 5:00 AM EST, there was an as yet undiagnosed high-load condition on the database server. The server has been rebooted and we're looking at the problem.

Preliminary indications are pointing to some potential data corruption in the u2u data... more as we know it.

I never thought I would miss ATS so much lol I was bored out of my mind here at work.

Okay... here's the really odd thing...

Our increased load (as reported in the "slow queries" log) began about the same time as these reports...

That seems to explain it pretty well. Too much traffic. Ah well, it happens.

Very weird. Not sure at all what to make of all this... seems to be many reports of something strange happening at this exact time.

Maybe a lot of people wanted to get on ATS to write about their experiences, causing a overload?

Maybe someone is trying to stir up a hoax by assaulting ATS's hardware.

Which is entirely possible, but most people would not understand the motivation to do such a thing.

As for why i haven't been around in ages, my brother (among others) seemed to have suspended my access to ATS from fear of my being able to reach those he socialises with and take his power over me away.

Actually this started happening to me a bit in the last couple of days, both with some u2's and a few pages, not across the board. "Service temporarily unavailable was the error message in Firefox." I just waited for a few minutes though and it came back.

It's probably just the Russians, since ATS seems to be one of the few media sources that care about what is going on in Georgia. SO you better have a talk with that Kaspersky dude...

I was thinking more along the lines of a DoS attack by the "enter villian/NWO/Bilderburg/Gov Agency" here to cover some actions elsewhere so we could not report on it.

I did see that the Empire State Building suffered a power outage. Man, the servers must be deep beneath the Empire State building... but realized that was Saturday.

I smell a conspiracy afoot. The U2U has possibly been compromised by the Really Above Top Secret Operatives...Or not. Just throwing that out as a possibility, since we know this site is monitored by the RATS people.
