Anyone else getting those nasty Error Safe popups when on ATS?

I've been getting them alot the last two days, and only on ATS.

Two notes, I'm on a company computer which is a mac and no, i've haven't been on porn sites with it. Only "dodgy" site it's been on is ATS to be honest.
Again... it only happens when on ATS. So I figure on of the recent commercials on the site is to blame?

it pops up, takes me directly to their website, and bring sup a dialog box

if i hit the x or cancel button, it reloads the page and pops up the dialob box again

i have to close my web browser to get it to go away.

Why would this company think its a good ad slogan to do that? I will never buy pcoptimizer because of their dumbass advertising techniques.

If you get email on that computer, then you now know where your problem came from.

Porn sites are not, I repeat NOT, the only place these little ad ware bugs come from. A Google search on the name of the pop up you are getting will reveal much to you I imagine.

Nope, nope, never and I say never have I had pop-ups on ATS. I use firefox which blocks popups, but have never had notification of one trying on ATS.

I think the last thing a forum the size of this one would do is allow an ad company to inflict its populous with popups.

I got one on just now on this page.

The spyware thing that you have to reboot to dump. I do have firefox, but it seems to not always stop them.

While it's annoying, I see it as just part of the price you pay for the internet. It's like tailgaters on the highway, all you can do is cuss and then ditch them.

Popups suck. Especially the ones that try and convince you to download something, or even worse mislead you and force you to download something.

Unfortunately not much has been done by our lawmakers to ban these horrible tactics, which I think is a travesty because by hijacking someone's computer I believe you're committing theft at the very least.

It is our general policy to see to it that such ads do not ever appear on ATS, however because the ads are served by ad networks sometimes a stray one may slip by and show up.

The best thing to do if you notice an ad that should not be on ATS is to please alert the ATS Administrators by posting to this thread. We try to react as quickly as possible to remove the offending ad from rotation.

As a general rule though, any of these things that claim to "speed up" your computer or "protect you from spyware" really do precisely the opposite. A real product does not need to employ such unethical advertising tactics to get customers.

Cheers Springer... but the thing is, that the email account on that particular computer never ever receives spam or those pesky admails. I'm not kidding. It's been very closely guarded as to not be posted somewhere on the net.

I'll look into what could have cause this :S I know how to get rid of it on a pc, but not on a mac.

As a businessman it amazes me that these clowns actually spend money to have their product become among the MOST HATED within the very audience they hope to sell!

The poor dummies.

The rest of these bugs have nothing to do with the product "presented" and are nothing more than a means to hack someone's computer in the hope of getting financial and or personal data, even WORSE.

i really try and keep a tight rein on the sites i use on the web...
but i've found on 2 different occasions a little AD box informing me that my
spyware has expired..... And the box came up on a 'tab' already established, that included ATS and one of my financial links i frequent
(i.e. www.internationalforecaster.com or else www.daily reckoning .com)
~just two examples... with the common link on the multiple 'tabs'/'windows' being ATS !!

~I must think that some hacker...or some replacement of the convicted e-mail spamer has somehow got into the ATS domain... and might rely on one clicking the 'My ATS' function and then going to another Tab to refresh on the content of that 'tabbed' site..... its a little convoluted and hard to explain, but the pop-up ADs don't seem to originate from some previously watched Porn Site --- as I've notgone to that area of degredation for that to be an explaination.... (in answer to the site owner post that suggested porn sites as being the cause for these weird pop-ups)

I've been getting some pop up that says my pc has an error and can damage my pc and wants me to run their program to fix it. It only seems to pop up when i'm on ATS, the first time i hit cancel and paid dearly for that, messed up my pc for a whole day, it wouldn't shut down and wouldn't let me do anything on my pc, just kept popping back up. Had to shut down completely and run my spy sweeper in safe mode when i got it back on and then scan for viruses took all day to get it fixed.



Thankfully it doesn't happen often, and only when i'm on here. What i do now is if it pops up i don't even click on the close icon, i pull up my task manager and close it down through there and then i have to pull ATS back up again.

to clarify the claim i made 2 posts up on the thread.

i experimented this AM, and i found that the AD for antispyware and antivirus for $$...actually originates on www.marketoracle.co.uk....

it seems that when i go to my ATS, and click a topics Last Post []
boxy thingy, the ATS server routes the action to another one of my windows ('Tabs' on my XP)
and the AD that was imbeded in that window does not go away with the new link from the old site i was removed from.
So, bottom line, ATS is not the culprit nor the vioctim of some AD hacker.


so that address above should be footneted that it will have a delayed pop-up to contend with (no problem with clicking the delete box [X] @ top right

I get no popups from ATS and I'm not using anything special to block them. Just an XP box & firefox.

I do get popups when visiting my local newspaper site, but they go away as soon as I leave that site.

If you're getting persistent pops ups you might need a little cleaning with your favorite spyware removal or just check your startups or browser for unnecessary scripts.

I'm getting these too. It only happens when I'm on ats. It doesn't open up a new window though, it opens up on the ats site, then I get more pop ups saying am I sure I want to cancel, etc. I have to hit the back button to get back to ats.

I haven't gotten any obviously nefarious popups lately, but
at 2:00 PM today, I did get a pop up for Circuit City.

ATS had been the only site I'd brought up since a restart for Symantic updates.
