I apologize. I forgot to add the link.

By the way, claiming that McCain will be just like GW because he is white and conservative is racial stereotyping.

I did not claim that McCain will be just like GW because he is white and conservative. In fact, I have not seen that claim anywhere. Do YOU have a link?
I say that McCain will be just like GW because his voting record agrees with GW the vast majority of the time.

What is wrong with the U.S. having been ran by white male protestants throughout its history, white male protestants created this country and made it great,

The government should be representative. Any time you have one group leading ALL THE TIME, the policies are bound to favor that group. And check it out. Why do you think women, minorities and people whose lifestyle goes against the white heterosexual Christian male ideal have historically had to fight for their rights (to vote, to own property, to get paid equally, to marry)? What rights have these white heterosexual Christian males had to fight for?

I have nothing against them, I just don't think ANY group should be leading ALL THE TIME.

And I won't get into the religion of its founders. Suffice it to say, they weren't all protestants. They weren't even all religious.

Women, minorities and people whose lifestyle goes against the white heterosexual Christian male ideal fight for their rights because their vision of how things should be different, although their vision isn't always all that great. You ignore the reality that people around the world who do not live in nations predominately controlled by white males, with the exception of Japan and S. Korea, have no right to fight for. In nations not ran by white males, protesting is ussually punished by death.

The free world exists because white men began fighting against tyranny and oppression almost a thousand years ago, throwing off religious controlled state, eventually leading up to the creation of the concept of the rights of man, and the establishment of the first representative governments. Throughout the rest of the developed world, everyone who was not a part of the ruling elites were essentially and primarily slaves.

Plenty of white males fight for their rights all the time. We all have to fight continuously to defend our rights in one form or another.

Most of congresses voting record agrees with GW the vast majority of the time. McCain is a far different person than GW. Most conservatives don't want to support McCain because they think he is too liberal.

Equality "isn't that great", huh? Women and minorities making the same wages and white males "isn't that great"? Non-discrimination "isn't that great"?

Well, if you're saying, "At least we're not shooting you in the head for speaking in public. You should be grateful", then I guess you have a point. If you have to compare the US to backward dictatorships to make it look good, your point is lost.

Exactly my point. The establishment of representative government. Now let's have it. Put your money where your mouth is and let's realize a real representative government.

Plenty of white males fight for their rights all the time. We all have to fight continuously to defend our rights in one form or another.

Yes, we ALL fight for our rights. Black, white, red and brown gay, straight, men AND women fight for our rights. It seems to me they should all benefit equally.

(This is off topic. I apologize. Poet, perhaps if we want to talk about this further another thread should be started in Social Issues? Because it doesn't have much to do with Baracknophobia.)

Hey, I said "isn't ALWAYS all that great", which means most of the time minorities and other groups are justified in their fight. I'm all for it and you will find any white males join in those fights on the sides of minorities.

As far as wage discrimination goes, I think all blue collar workers are getting a raw deal these days, throw in engineers and many other groups. I think this would make a good thread, but these types of threads don't seem to get much attention.

The sad fact is that when you go outside of countries ruled by white men, with the exception of Japan and S Korea, they are all backward dictatorships, which means that compared to the rest of the world, white leaders do a pretty good job. Why more nations outside of Europe fail to succeed in developing good representative governments, I don't know, and find it frustrating, because I think people of all races and ethnicities tend to be of fairly equal quality.

I wish we could find a way to neutralize the rich and powerful interests that keep our country from being a more representative government. Honestly, I think this presidential race is opening up conversations on race and identity that need to be had, and who ever wins, this will in the end be an election year that moves us forward as a nation.

What is amusing is that Barack detractors expect him to be perfect, but gloss over McCain's faults. When the two are compared, the choice is clear. Barack may have some quirks, like all politicians, and he is a politician, but so what? He does it well. Do you want some idiot dealing with foreign leaders or someone who has the cajones to take them on? Someone sharp? Smart?

Mr. McCains' POW experience was certainly awful, but being a POW doesn't mean you know anything about dealing with foreign affairs. It just means you were shot down and captured, and given special treatment because of your family ties.

We need a change in direction. Obama gives us that change. Will he be able to do everything he says? No. Congress will get in the way. Will he change some of the really bad things? Yes. So he won't be perfect, but the alternative is much worse.

We have to change direction. McCain is all for the status quo. If we don't change direction, we will surely be totally bankrupt and the the only winners will be those corporations that moved their head offices overseas, like Halliburton and our creditor nations like China. Do we really want McCain giving us over to China? That is where we are heading if we don't change. So are you a patriot or what? You like China owning us all, don't you? Not me.

Did anyone really think we would have perfect Presidential candidates?

Obama's idea of change is to reinstate the welfare state of the 70ties, which was a horrible failure, and to embroil us in war in Africa. There is good reason to be afraid of Obama's plans for the U.S..

I'm having a hard enough time getting by with the current tax level, thank you.

We need a President right now with business sense. One who will balance the books, cut most if not all spending overseas, and concentrate on conditions in the US. Neither of the major candidates fit this bill for me.

I think eventually you are going to be called a racist for those remarks.

Because we all know.. the issues aren't the issue, if you don't like Barack be it because of his absurd programs, his "the rich will pay for it all" BS or any of his other socialistic policies, you WILL be branded a closet racist.

Eventually.

How many threads now end with Obama supports bitching about a racist on the thread and then condeming all conservatives or those who don't tow the Obama line as racist. I actually believe that Obama supporters are posting racial remarks so they can use that as a talking, point to cover up the real issues.

I mentioned this tactic in a thread recently that no one has even bothered to talk about. But I will here and in every thread I can because it's important that the issues we care about don't get distilled and diregarded to an ugly racial blowoff.

You want socialistic programs, fine..
Those who do not should be able to argue agsint them without being branded a racist or being thrown in with a racist label.

I dont get these Bushies when they complain about being called racist. When your posting anti-Obama threads that have nothing to do with the policies or the experience 90% of the time what do you expect? Really now, what a bunch hypocrites....

More generalisations! Most people support Obama because he will end this pointless war in Iraq and will get the nations focus back on Osama. Most also support him because of universal healthcare and his foreign policies. Your assumption that people only support him because of his colour is a pritty weak excuse and at the same time you people complain about McCain being questioned for his age and his connections to Bush. Again, hypocritical.

You and the other three cowboys on here keep on posting these right wing conspiracies and then somebody proves you all wrong beyond a doubt and you ignore whats being said and move on to the next smear job, honestly what do you expect? Ofcourse your going to be called a racist! I see bigotry for what it is and I will call you out for what you are. Stick to the real issues and you wont have a problem.

Character issues with Obama.

20 year association with Reverand Wright.

Racist christian or muslim? Make up your mind!
. yes many were offended by what wright said, nobody likes to hear their nation being put down in that matter. That being said Reverend wright is an old angry black man, theres alot of angry black people, theres also alot of old angry hispanics and native americans, and I understand why. As for this "GOD DAMN AMERICA" comment, well Id be angry if I found out that both Osama and Saddam had US assistance under the Reagan and Bush administrations and we wonder how they managed to gain so much power and influence?

By the way McCain seeked out Pastor Hagees endorsement. Yes obama may have spent 20years with wright but considering McCain seeked out Hagees endorsement knowing full well his attitudes and belief system, I find it highly hypocritical for Bushies to complain about Wright. If your going to accuse somebody of something, make sure your plate is clean.

Friendship with William Ayers, the unrepentent member of the Weather Underground, a group which was responsible for several bombings, including the Pentagon, from 1970-1974.

Im sorry but if you were being marginalized during the 60's and 70's and you were protesting against this treatment by the government, you would meet all kinds of people. Does that mean your guilty of somebody elses crime? No it does not. In other countries like Argentina, The Balkan states and South africa people who protested for their civil rights or independence were doing so in a peaceful manner, out of those protestors there would be those who would commit unacceptable acts in the name of their cause but that does not reflect those who chose to protest peacefully. By the way how old was Obama when those bombings happened? 12 or something

His continuous references to white people as "white folk"

Really, does he refer to white people like this all the time? He says many things in his book that merely represent the time in which he was brought up in. Whites called blacks negroes casually up until the 80s, southern blacks still refer to whites as white folks. This doesnt make them racist, its the environment as to which they were raised in. We all know this isnt a real issue rrconservative, just an excuse for you to smear the man. Theres always some excuse for you people.

His association with the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farakhan.

What the man for endorsed Obama? Hows it his fault? You cannot prevent people from endorsing you, you can only denounce them. What do you want him to do? Shut him up. And then theres Rev. Rod Parsley, the man who is the complete opposite of Farakhan but just as bad. Keep your plate clean if your going to make accusations.

The only part race plays into this is that there are far more people voting for this guy because he is black, than those who won't because he is.

Oh really, do you have the evidence to back that up? If you refering to 90% of blacks votes, well after Katrina and considering the Historical relevence to this election in turn with being marginalized for the last what? 300years? I dont blame them. In anycase blacks probably only accounted for a third of Obamas support.

Also I would say there are far more people voting for him to end the war in Iraq and to end this failed path set by Bush. McCain with his 87% voting record with Bush clearly shows that he will continue Bush policies that have failed this nation. Most liberals also support universal healthcare and because Obamas policies are near similar to Hillary's, go figure.

The only difference is that the people voting for him because he is black, fall for such catchphrases as "change and hope" and don't really care what else he stands for.

No true, as I said above. It was because of BUSH and this neocon conservative administration voted in by people like you, is why people are voting for Obama. Even if he was white he will still get this kind of support. People are sick of Bush policies and lies, they wish to change the path. The fact he mislead the public about the war in Iraq, the fact this war is costing the tax payer $200million a day while the economy is suffering, the fact he and his twin McCain made such poor response to hurricane Katrina and the fact nobody bother about Osama anymore may be reason enough.

Hillary wouldve beaten McCain. Obama will lose in a landslide. The rate at which the Obama camp plays the race card is appaling and its only June. Obama has no substance and next to no experience. One can only suck the Obama Hope-Change bong for so long.

Do I suffer from "Baracknophobia"? No, I dont. I am reasonable and have tried to reason with his bizarre ever changing platform only to realize that he really doesnt seem to know what the hell hes doing at all.

Im not a McCain fan either. McCain just isnt nearly as reckless as Obama. McCains "bomb Iran" incident is pretty scary and makes me wonder just how seriously he takes certain things.

Lastly, I work with two African-Americans who wear Obama 08 buttons to work everyday and the ONLY reason they are for him is because he looks African-American. Issues? What issues?

Rice/Powell is my dream ticket......one can dream.....

Its gonna be a looooong horrid election year....

Id say the opposite, Hillary would have had more of a fight on her hands. The republicans would have pinned her for her vote for the war, they would have smeared her for her husbands doing during the 90s and they would of accused her on her own connections to cooperations. Hillary carries a heavy load my friend, the republicans want nothing more than to have her as the democratic nominee instead.

Lastly, I work with two African-Americans who wear Obama 08 buttons to work everyday and the ONLY reason they are for him is because he looks African-American. Issues? What issues?

That must make all Obama supporters like this? I dont think so, and read what I said on that matter in my reply above, I think it sums up a reasonable argument.

I don't know about "Baracknophobia" but I can definitely tell you that I believe Obama would be the worst President that we have ever have. His policies have already been tried and they have failed. He wants to take this country and turn it into a socialist paradise - never mind that socialism has never worked.

The Reverend Wright situation should have been an eye-opener for a lot of people. This is someone who Obama respects, called his "spiritual advisor," married him as well as baptized his children. He spent 20 years sitting in a pew listening to the man preach. I can't imagine belonging to a church where someone preached things I didn't agree with from the pulpit most Sundays. (Wright is known for his firey and controversial sermons.)

There are a great deal more things to be concerned about where Obama is concerned than the color of his skin or whether he has a Muslim background or not. He's saying he's going to pull us out of Iraq. I hate to say this, but that would be a total disaster at the moment. I don't want to be in Iraq any more than you do, but I do know I don't want the country to completely collapse in on itself because we decide to up and pull out every soldier we have. I also don't think Obama knows what he's talking about when it comes to Iraq - he's a demagogue and he's telling the far left liberals exactly what they want to hear.

And it amazes me that people don't notice this. I have a friend who swears up and down it hurt Obama more to leave Trinity than to stay when he left for political reasons and to prove to people that he doesn't agree with Rev. Wright or Father Pfleger so they would vote for him.

Don't get me wrong - I don't like McCain much either, but I think he's a much better choice than Obama. Hillary would have been a much better choice than Obama - and I never thought I would have voted for Hillary, ever.

Cthulhu '08!
