Up for a challenge match Ian?
I´d currently be willing to argue the pro side of the following standpoints:
1. Libertarianism is the best political choice
2. Science-Fiction is important for society
If any of that strikes your fancy...

Yes. I'm scheduled in round 2, which I believe begins this week, so that would be my first priority. How about 4 replies instead of 5, with perhaps
a little extra leeway for extensions if I happen to have 2 debates + non-ATS stuff overloading me before the weekend?
Oh and any topic (random?), any side.

Im also scheduled for round 2 which will have random sides.
Should we do a challenge-match in addition to that (non-random-sides), we could do it without the 24-hour-rule.

That sounds good. Hmm though I'm a little wary of giving you the pro side on topics that I would guess you'd be comfortable arguing for... I do
like the Libertarian one, though. Perhaps. I'm drawing a blank on alternate topic ideas. Are you defining 'Libertarian' as the American
political party? Political labels are so vague.

As long as you dont feel entirely up to it (time constaints, topical constraints), dont say yes to it. We both want to enjoy it. But we can also
re-consider it after the debate tournament.
(Yes, the Libertarian party)

Sure let's do it. "The Libertarian Party Is The Best Political Choice". Given our complaints about people not scheduling enough time for debates,
and my still-uncertain estimate of my workload this week, let's defer starting until round 2 is in-progress a little. Don't want two research
workloads at once. Sound ok?
Edit: Aargh! I really want to debate now! But, prudence, I suppose... MemoryShock, are we talking early this week or late this week for the
start of the next round?

I have enjoyed my limited experience in the debate ring . Myself I have made a concious(SP?) decision not to take part in debate tournaments because I
am unsure that I could devote enough time to the task . I am interested in getting back into the ring at some stage .
Cheers xpert11.

I see you´ve changed my wording of "Libertarian" to The Libertarian Party. Quite a tricky move already, I must say.
We´ll do this debate, but there´s no rush. Lets see what MemoryShocks plans are with the second round first.

That was after a quick look at Wikipedia. Apparently, the various flavors of 'libertarianism' run the gamut from socialist to objectivist,
stopping at all stations inbetween.
Looking forward to it.

If we wouldnt have limited it to "Libertarian Party" I would have been able to argue from any standpoint...extreme left to extreme right and all in
between.
You didnt fall for it though (good for you!), so we´re limiting it to "Libertarian Party". But since Im a donator to that party, I wont have a
problem arguing for it.
Talk soon.

I am not, in any way, contending that this situation is 'understandable' in the sense of how many aborts we have had. But I will gladly volunteer
to have my debate excluded from the competition to allow for a new 1st round to occur.
I was assigned as a stand-in in the first place, so I think restarting the 1st round wouldn't negatively affect those in it for the long haul.
Just a suggestion.

I am genuinely impressed with this round of debate topics!
Looks like I need to get my drink on before tackling this bad boy.
I'll have a strawberry margarita, please!

Hmm, looking at my topic, I'll take a Kamikaze -- make it a double.
Or perhaps I'll just munch on these peanuts for the first round or two.
