c) Does Morality Need Religion?

d) Is Ethnic Conflict Inevitable?

But with some expanded definition on the second one.
I'd take the con on the first or the pro on the second.

I would tentatively accept con on selection d) (would like to see the revised topic).

I would also take con on this offering by Maxmars...

It'll rot your brain: Television is the single largest contributing factor of social ignorance in America.

Other than those two, I would opt for a random topic from semperfortis.

Thoughts?

I'm not crazy about the TV one.

The way I would expound on "d" is to withdraw the word "ethnic" and replace it with "Armed conflict between humans is inevitable."

Or like you said, if it is not to your liking we can both be surprised by semper.

I actually had no problem with the term 'ethnic'....merely the scope of the topic isn't defined. Could be interesting...

"Ethnic and Regional Conflict Between Humans Are Inevitable."

Schrodingers Dog arguing Pro.
MemoryShock arguing Con.

Yeah...?

I have a work thing that will keep me away from a computer for the day...My work is forcing a trip to Disneyland for myself and some of my co-workers...at least I still get paid for the day...

Whenever you want. Why don't you contact semperfortis and tell him when you wish him to post the topic. Also ask him if he wants to start a companion thread for fighter commentary.

I am stunned that you agreed to this position on this topic.
I worry that you have something clever up you sleeve.
We shall see.

I was motivated by making sure that it was a topic you wanted to debate so that you would actually show up...

And I may have more than one thing up my sleeve. It all depends in how you decide to argue this...but I like my chances regardless...

It is kind of a bizarre choice for me after having started the hostilities against DATS...

You might want to prepare for "statistical certainties."

That's more human/penguin conflict.

Thanks for the tip...I won't be so kind...

And the Debate Thread is scheduled for posting tomorrow night, though I suspect we will both be doing some preparation in the interim.

I wish you luck...but only because I think you'll need it...

The majesty of John Lennon replaces the need for a sitar. I thought everyone knew that?

So I was thinking, since you are going to party at Disneyland of all places till tomorrow, I promise not to post within at least 12hrs from when semper opens the debate. I don't want the debate to open and post within 5 minutes, that would be wrong.

It's all good. We are both going into this with an understanding that we both have a day or so to prepare...

And I stipulated that the post go up tomorrow night. We have been given permission (discouraged, however) to leave whenever we want after two 'o clock. The only concern is traffic...

Anyhow, I am expecting to return to a computer prior to the post going up...
