I looked through all the info i could, theres tons of info out there, but to cut to the chase i went for a very simple but effective grain silo conversion.
Take 1 steel former grain silo, not fuel or chemical, but grain silo. And convert to your requirements.

If your interested on knowing more i`ll do a lengthy description.

I have a fairly significant collection of Survival related documents, including extensive fallout shelter plans. Whilst I won't be sticking it to them, they are a useful guide. If anybody wants a quick look, send me a private message.

On an unrelated note, forgot to mention that I have 2 wells which are pretty well stocked up around my grandparents house, and also another well at the bottom of the fields.

Hmm, forgot about this thread...

but might it be a good idea, as well as stocking up on water, to hoard concentrated juices? Like, Vimto?
Not only would it taste nicer, but it has all kinds of goodies..

Vitamin C being one.
Without which, in a SitX, you'd be well screwed.

Plus, I quite like Vimto

Dont forget to include ''High Energy'' foodstuffs, such as Dextrose Tablets and 'High Cal Juice' and of course the good old ''Kendals Mint Cake''. Not only are these foodstuffs full of energy, they are 'interesting foods', not boring like beans and pulses but they are in a form that the body can convert to energy very efficiently and quickly. Remember your body needs to convert your foodstuffs into a manageable form, ie sugars to produce glucose.

Here is a website that supplies such foodstuffs:-

Being in the south of England will be tougher in a lot of ways, especially the heavily urbanised areas around london. Green belt is scarce. But Like Dar Kuma noted there are quite a few forgotten hideaways you migh be able to exploit.
I've never been to the New Forest but that might be too small to hide out in surrounded by urban areas.

I'd forget the Channel Tunnel in most cases of SitX. The place would be jam packed with refugees and in a panic you could be crushed.
Might be better to have a chat with boat owners etc.

Indeed there are....

I've been out and about this morning and managed to find quite a good spot for a remote cache which is in place, Its a green plastic bin with lockable lid.
I shall be taking some food down there in a few days with some tools so i can make a small shelter.
I also noted what looked like building foundations?
Atleast its right by a stream and there is a few ducks about, mmmm
Duck eggs for breakfast....what a nice treat now and again.

I havn't successfully found a video of how to skin a rabbit yet, All i seem to find is a bit of text on some message boards.
I dont think catching one will be too hard, I know how to make a noose.

I still need to get a couple of esential items before i camp out for a few days but its getting there.

Hey Dar Kuma check this out. Just take the space out between .com / and it should work, its not letting me post the whole link in one.

www.m4040.com... /Survival/Skills/Hunting%20and%20Snaring/Skinning&Gutting.htm

It has animations on how to skin a rabbit, it also shows you where and what the edible organs are.

theres also a bit of info on trapping different animals and what snares to use.

Hope this helps mate

I just thought of something about cacheing food, Next time you are at the supermarket/Mall go and have a look at the damaged items, Sometimes they have a shelf with some stuff that is/has been damaged which is greatly reduced in price.

Look for tinned goods with damaged tins, Allthough this has probably allready been mentioned theres no harm in mentioning it again.

hmm, be wary of damaged tins. I've heard the metal may cause fragments to foul the contents over a long period, more so than if it had been undamaged.

I never thought about that, Would it really matter?

If a tin has a dent in the side surley it would be ok?

If not just forget these two posts of mine.

God I am damn pleased I decided to move into rural Co Durham, falling population, loads of space, unnoticed by the south east, more fresh water than you can shake a stick at (unlike the SW), more easily accessable coal than you can shake a stick at , Open cast, surface seam, beach coal( unlike the SW), more acreage suitable for farming, excellent fishing, cheapest housing in the country. we dont face having 12 million Londoners heading our way if TSHTF ( unlike the SW).We are self sufficient on energy production ( unlike the SW) We dont get the weather extremes that the other regions get, we dont get millions of foreigners moving in to cause civil unrest and racial disharmoney. We are awash with wild animals like deer, wild boar, free roaming domestic pigs, wild chickens, rabbits and other stuff. we have lower crime than most other areas, we are bordered by the north sea to the east, equally rural lake district to the west, and also the equally rural Scots borders to the north, The only blight on the horizon is the Peoples Democratic Socialist Republic of Unemployable Yorkshiremen to our south, but they think the ice cap starts at Harrowgate
So theres little risk from them. I can see an attraction to the south west if your only choice are normally involving the home counties, but the west country frequently grinds to a halt, runs very low on water, and is pusshed to supply enough fuel and electricty in the holiday season, Imagine what it will be like post TSHTF with millions of hungry former labour voters arriving from their socialist paradises in Landan .We have two oil refineries, two nuclear power plants, two car factories,a truck factory,a tyre making plan, even a mint.A railway manufacting industry, # loads of brand new wind farms, and unless I am out of date the south west has none of those items to help it survive.
