CIA Death Squads Killing with 'Impunity' In Afghanistan

www.wsws.org

A United Nations investigator released a preliminary report last week citing widespread civilian deaths in Afghanistan, often at the hands of unaccountable units led by the CIA or other foreign intelligence agencies.

The investigator is Philip Alston, a New York University professor serving as the Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary execution. His report provides a partial glimpse into the illegal actions of intelligence agencies, occupying forces, and Afghan police, as they seek to repress opposition to the US-led occupation and US-backed government.

Boy, these guys sure are on a roll lately. Abduction and kidnapping, torture, and now death squads just murdering whoever they feel like, with no accountability as usual. This ought to really help in the ever-farcical "war on terror".

Help FUEL IT, 10-fold that is.

In addition to civilians killed in air raids—often targeted indiscriminately at civilian dwellings—Alston reported on “a number of raids for which no state or military command appears ready to acknowledge responsibility.”

In a press conference on Thursday, Alston elaborated, saying, “I have spoken with a large number of people in relation to the operation of foreign intelligence units. I don’t want to name them but they are the most senior level of the relevant places. These forces operate with what appears to be impunity.” The location of the incidents cited in the report indicate that the intelligence agencies in question include the CIA or US Special Operations Forces.

Having watched "Taxi to the Darkside" I have no doubt that this is actually happening now.

Line two.

For years we've been hearing about how the terrorists are in Afghanistan and not Iraq. Given how well terrorist tend to blend in civilian surroundings tells me the CIA seems to be effectrive in fighting "terra", providing of course the story happens to be true.

So first we arm the Freedom Fighters, then we kill them, then we kill their families, and then we just kill whoever. This plan sucks. Why won't a mainstream reporter cover this story?

Because the mainstream media is owned by the very mega-corps who started this whole damn thing and profit from it, thus controlling the story and what is and is not reported. They have too much at stake to risk losing a huge cash cow by reporting the Truth.

So the UN Human Rights Council, which has counted some of the most evil governments known for their own human rights violations among its members, sends a liberal university professor to investigate the US military and intelligence services, and you all buy it hook, line and sinker!!

Some of you will believe anything as long as it supports your own political agenda or beliefs. It doesn't matter that a joke of an organization sends a biased "investigator", which is all reported in a completely unreliable website...

I dare you guys to hold the same burden of proof to the anti-Bush crap as you do to the pro-Bush crap. But that will never happen.

Just remember that denying ignorance starts at home, and it's not a selective process!

Well said friend well said.

I am not wholly for Bush or wholly against him. I tend to take everything with a grain of salt. Do my research and then decide. If I did like you all do, it would becom a he said she said thing.

Personally, this has nothing to do with political affiliation as far as I'm concerned. I doubt things would be much different with a Democrat in office to tell you the truth.

But the proof is in the pudding. We know full well that people have been murdered by US forces, even while in custody, and under torture. Not to mention the fact that some of the most "evil and dangerous top level terrorists" held at Gitmo have been released without any charges after being held for years and tortured.

So I must ask, from where do your doubts spawn?
