Is China electrocuting U.S. soldiers in Iraq?

Families demand answers in Iraq electrocutions

Three years and three months before Ryan Maseth stepped into a shower Jan. 2 in Baghdad, an Army safety specialist identified electrocution as a "killer of soldiers."

Still, when the 24-year-old Shaler Green Beret turned on the faucet, water flowed from a pump powered by an improperly grounded electrical system manufactured in China. Borne on water, an electrical current surged through the pipes, out of the shower head and into his body.

I sincerely hope this is not what I think it is.

Well, what do you think it is? A sinister plot by the Chinee to team up with the "terrist" to kill our finest and bravest?

Sounds more like shoddy workmanship, dumbass design, no bid contract, with a healthy kickback thrown in at the expense of our military personnel; but to the ultimate benefit of some war profiteer.
Our tax dollars pay for that garbage equipment and it's installation What responsibility do we shoulder?

Considering that its the installation processes where plumbing and electrical systems are properly grounded, I would find it difficult to attribute this to a Chinese plot. Also, the contractors or army engineers who 'certified' this structure a sound enough for use are the ones who must answer for the conditions. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was a contractor who is long gone and living in Dubai.

"an improperly grounded electrical system"

Maybe the person who installed this system should take the responsibility.

Mmmmm.... which outside contractor is responsible for this infrastructure?

When this story first appeared a few weeks back the blame was being laid firmly at the feet of the contractor, NOT the equipment.

This looks like an attempt to shift the blame.

I think "Made In China" is a warning lable now.

Look. The stuff they export is cheap for a reason. Yes labor costs are a huge issue, but also safety concerns are the first to go by the wayside when dealing with economies of scale. etc. Both the manufacturers who demand fixed prices on things to the CHiCom government who reduces cost with not only slave labor but also cutting corners wherever they can.

one has to wonder what kind of electricians license the person had that did the actual wiring of the pump motors ?
or perhaps to save money the contractor didn't employ qualified tradesmen ?
i see in one of the write ups about this that they say that iraqs electrical standards are not as strict as those in north america.is this the loop hole the contractor will use to get away with the murder of 15 american soldiers?

what quality do you expect from someone paid with 1$ / day ? I do not see any conspiracy , just low quality products.

Same old, same old...

The General contractor (Halliburton, KBR or similar) is getting multi $Billion contracts and then hiring unskilled workers, either local or brought in, to do the job at the lowest possible pay rates. That's good ol' capitalism at work

The corporate boys don't give a hoot about a few fritzed GI's, just the bonuses and share dividends flying into their offshore accounts. Thay also all have get out of jail free cards courtesy of their paid off politicians and lawyers.

You only have to watch that TV show "Holmes on Homes". He's based in Canada and some of the dodgy electrical work he uncovers in North America is mind blowing. As he keeps on saying "minimum Code". The people he helps are paying big money for there contractors to do this work.
So I guess not just a problem in Iraq...
