One thing that troubles me about these tunnels is their vulnerability to earthquakes. I wouldn’t want to be traveling through Missouri when the next New Madrid quake occurs, or through LA when the Big One goes off.

I would feel safer in an aboveground system like some of the hyperloop proposals.

Your right all you would have is passengers with every bone they have broken. then there is the cost takes millions to just make a 1 mile tunnel imagine the cost for thousands.
