Claims that OBL was murdered have been frequently discussed and debated on Al Jazeera news over the past couple of years, and in many other fora.
Benazir Bhitto bought the mythology and repeated it not only here but in other interviews, particularly on Pakistani TV.
Problem is, no-one has any proof and there is no body, so the plain truth is that no-one knows. Saying you KNOW OBL is dead is like saying you KNOW
Adolf Hitler is alive and well and living in Peru, when in fact you don't. It's important to separate what you know (i.e. you have a body in front
of you, dental records that match, positive ID from a number of genetic indicators) and what you just BELIEVE or THINK YOU KNOW. There is a big
difference.
Fact of the matter is, no-one knows if OBL is alive or dead. He is not old - it was/would have been his 51st birthday on 10 March, so he's still
quite young in terms of normal human lifespan. He is known to have suffered a chronic kidney disease, possibly pyelo-nephritis, some years ago. He may
be living quietly in semi-retirement, somewhere in northern Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan. There are thousands of tribal villages there
and the remit of the Islamabad government does not in practice rule there. It's bandit country. He could easily live there quietly for 30 years with
no public profile, and no-one outside would know.
So please, before posting with such confidence that 'OBL is dead' - let's have some proof. Without proof, the question remains open and the rest
is just speculation with no value.
