Bush to Have Colonoscopy Under Anesthesia
archives.cnn.com
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush Saturday will undergo a colonoscopy -- a diagnostic examination to check for early signs of colon cancer --
and will transfer power to Vice President Dick Cheney during the procedure.
"It is the third such procedure I've had," said the president. "The doctors recommended I have another because the last time they found some benign
polyps."

Asked about the decision to transfer power, Bush said, "I did so because we're at war, and I just want to be super cautious."
So what are the chances something will happen
and Cheney will get to use the Presidential powers?
(not like he isn't already)
And the whole colonoscopy thing, its just too easy, I won't go there.
I'll leave that for you ATS'ers

Tomorrow, Saturday July 21st, 2007, (for about one to three hours)
Dick Cheney will be President of the United States
Bush said he and his staffers had discussed the issue and "looked at precedent" before he decided on the transfer of power, which is authorized
under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution.
"I'm the first president to have done so under this type of procedure of physical examination," Bush said.
Is he full of himself or something else?

is this a serious story??
those colonoscopys' are outpatient procedures,
everyone over 50 y.o. is recommended by their primary care Dr. to get one yearly.
all they scope is about the last 4 ft of your bowels...
it seems a President would be getting the 'royal treatment'
by using the MRI or that other non-invasive scanning (CAT?-scan)
especially if he had a history of a 'polyp', his last flexible scope procedure.
so, in reality, this is a no-news issue...the 'relaxant' he receives is probably a mild sedative/tranquilizer so there's not a lot of
'resistance' that a tense GWB would provide- - to an un-natural probe device.
If the report says he'll be knocked out & unconscious
...i'd say that is exaggeration & sensationalism, for titilating the reader

He'll definitely be under enough medication as to be out of it for a few hours.
This definitely isn't a big deal, but is necessary... what if a hostile state fired their nuclear weapons at us at this very time the prez is knocked
out?

Then the country will respond 15 minutes earlier than they did on 911.
Sorry... couldn't resist.

Quite true, but he's going in tomorrow for a 5 year checkup. I haven't seen any current articles being released as of yet.

Well sorry but....a colonoscopy examines the "entire" colon. A sigmoidoscopy only examines the last 4 feet. Unfortunately, this is a topic I am
all to familiar with.
The entire procedure takes less than about 15 minutes but you are knocked out during that time and groggy for about an hour after.
I once woke up in the middle of one and they had to stop. The doctor said I became "combative". A nice way to say my reaction to waking up with a
garden hose half-way up my..........nevermind.
The worst part is the liquid diet the day before. That was brutal until I realized that beer was allowed. ;-)
More here for whatever reason:

Think it's natural to think "Oh crap" with Cheney's recent push for war with Iran, though i think so few hours arent enough for him to have any
use for, i wont be suprised if i'm proved otherwise.
We'll see tomorrow.

I guess it's wise to make absolutely sure you are in good health before making a democracy a dictatorship. Can't they put Cheney under at the same
time?
