Four "killers from abroad" (Russians?) have allegedly fled Kiev after their assassination plans were uncovered. They apparently plotted to kill Yulia Tymoshenko, Yuriy Lutsenko and President Viktor Yushchenko. Ukraine has launched an investigation.

Kyiv Post: Ukraine investigates alleged assassination plot against Yushchenko, other officials

The investigation was launched after an official in Yushchenko's administration, Valery Heletey, claimed last Friday that he had information indicating that criminals and unnamed political parties were plotting to kill Yushchenko and his chief of staff, as well as political party leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

The performers of attempt which has been prepared on the life of Yulia Tymoshenko left Ukraine?

As reliable source informs, "four killers from abroad, who were preparing for the attempts, hastily left Kyiv and Ukraine".

[---]

As Geletey reported, available materials contain records about organization of the attempt on the life of Yulia Tymoshenko, Yuriy Lutsenko, scenario of provocations towards Viktor Baloga and other, and among persons, responsible for mentioned actions there are a few leaders of Ministry of internal affairs.

Thank God this was discovered before it was too late. We don't want to see Ukraine turning back to the ways of the USSR. Hopefully, these leaders will be extra careful from now on, knowing that someone wants to kill them. But of course they are. After all, it's not a big surprise that these leaders are very unpopular among the pro-Russian/mafia people of Ukraine and Russia.

I'm glad these guys ran off before they could kill the president etc. All the same this sounds like an operation that the Mossad would run or some such operation. The Ukraine hasn't always been eager to bow to Zionist interests.

I bet these were assassins hired by the Polish government. They have aimed to start a revolution in Ukraine, which would allow its old nemesis Poland to come in and capture Lviv, after which they were craving for years now. I say boycott Poland and their bullying politicians who are trying to return the region to the likes of the Polish-Lithuanian empire. I always knew Poland was up to no good.

Tymoshenko was offered to become a "lure", in order to catch the assassins red-handed. She refused, and that was probably a wise move...

Tymoshenko confirmed that she was offered to become a "lure" for killers

I was offered to become a "lure", so that they could catch organizers of the attempt on hot", - declared Tymoshenko.

"Frankly speaking, I denied such variant, knowing the state of our law enforcement structures", - said Tymoshenko.

At that she added: "I did not want to offend law enforcement structures; they are not guilty that power pranged the system and all functions of the law-enforcement system".

“Thus I am not ready to entrust my life to them", - marked Tymoshenko.

There has been an attempt on the life of one of Yulia Tymoshenko's colleagues, Oleksandr Yuryev. Tymoshenko considers this attempt to be political. Apparently, a victory by the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc on the elections, will be bad for gangsters. BYUT are intending to stop the mafia/gangsters and bring them to prison.

Tymoshenko considers attempt on the life of her colleague a political order

28 July 2007

Yulia Tymoshenko bloc considers attempt on the life of deputy chief of the Crimean staff of BYUT Oleksandr Yuryev a "cynical political order from the side of power, aimed at intimidation of the society and democratic forces on the eve of the early elections".

[---]

BYUT reminds that this is not the first criminal action against it sdeputies and activists.

"Criminal world which accreted with certain political forces and serves them, has chosen BYUT as a main target not by chance, understanding that victory of Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc on the elections will stop imperious gangsters and bring them to prison", - the statement informs.

Best of luck, Yulia! I hope you'll win and I hope you'll manage to stop the mafia. It's very dangerous, so be careful.

Thats very ironic, because Tymoshenko is synonymous with Ukrainian mafia. She and most of her close allies are crooks and thieves (actually Yanukovich was a crook too - if you still remember who he was). In fact probably every other politician in Ukraine deserves to be in jail for illegal activities - they don't even hide their actions like Russian politicians do. If anyone wanted to kill Tymoshenko, they probably had a good reason to do so. She has a very shady past, which was suddenly cleaned up by a professional PR department during the Apple Revolution. Or was that the Orange Revolution?

Well whatever it was - one band of crooks took over power from another band of crooks. And the past will catch up with them sometime. It is only too convenient to point all fingers at Russia and wait for NATO to throw you bone. Now no matter what happens in Ukraine - point fingers at Russia. No gas? Blame Russia. No running water? Blame Russia. Crippled face from undergoing skin treatment? Blame Russia. Politicians killing each other off? You guessed it.

One - she was an oligarch. Being an oligarch in Ukraine (or Russia) in the 90's now almost automatically classifies one as a crook, if not exactly someone who has broken written law - since laws at that time were written by oligarchs. These were oportunists and speculators who ceased on the opportunity to exploit the nation undergoing privatization and having a weak government. She and her partners were at the forefront government corruption and illegal trading activities involving taxes and tariffs.

Pavlo Lazarenko who was a business partner of hers is wanted in US (and I think was convicted) for money laundering and other fraud. By some miracle though *sarcasm* she avoided any persecution in the West, although she ran the exact same business.

Two - She had been previously arrested for document forgery and tariff evasion for illegal activities in the energy market sector.

Untill recently she was a convicted criminal and wanted for arrest in Russia.

And the thing is - she never actively denied any of these charges - mostly because to those who knew what she was doing they were so obvious. Many people who worked with her went to jail.

Of course during the Orange revolution her slate was suddenly wiped clean - no doubt due to an effort (*read: b*tching and whinning and protesting and crying to US and Europe) by her close supporters. She used the opportunity of chaos and general political anarchy during those weeks to come forward as a major supporter of Yuschenko and the pro-Orange Revolution.

But she was never a true ally of Yuschenko, and couldn't give a hoot about the Orange Revolution or anything it officially stood for. Again she was an opportunist, who tried to further her own agenda for a pro-oligarchist government. Now that the people of Ukraine have calmed down a little, she is separating from Yuschenko camp and pushing her own agenda. And as such she has made a whole load of new enemies in addition to countless old enemies.

But of course - when someone tries to kill her and expose her criminal past, she and her supporters only too conveniently find a way to blame Russia. Man - it must be the easiest job being a politician in Eastern Europe - whatever happens just blame it on Russia.

Somebody tried to kill Alexander Shaiderov. His car was rammed by another car. And he has received treats...

FLASH! First Attentate at Elections!

The worst election forecasts have come true in Ukraine in 2007. Many experts supposed this short election campaign would be sufficiently strict, hard-edged and dirty. Moreover, many people presupposed dirty provocations and even attentates would be definitely used in this very election campaign.

[---]

Somebody has attempted the life of “KUCHMA” bloc headquarters deputy chief in the Autonomous Republic Crimea, member of “KUCHMA” election Bloc of the parties (under 21st number in the election list) Alexander Shaiderov today in the morning.

[---]

“KUCHMA” bloc applies to prosecutor officials and law enforcement: stop the war of violence against political parties and blocs, stop dirty election campaign!

At the same time Bloc “KUCHMA” calls the citizens “to pray for health of people who is hanging between life and death”.

Update: Viktor Baloga has been named as "one of them"...

18.09.2008

The Security Service of Ukraine has been checking the information on possible preparation of attempt against the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, and Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reports.
Today, the former officer of the State Protection Directorate of Ukraine, Nikolai Melnichenko, announced that separate political forces and politicians had been developing a power script for solution of the political crisis and keeping their power positions.

[---]

Today, Melnichenko made an assumption about the person who can develop the attempt (those who could arrange the attempt). „I consider the head of the presidential administration, Viktor Baloga, as one of them", Melnichenko said.
