Iran Shows Tortured Diplomat

www.abc.net.au

Iran has shown footage of the wounds of an Iranian diplomat released after two months in captivity in Iraq, saying the pictures show he was tortured by US forces.

"The United States, whose officials make claims about human rights, drilled holes into the legs of Jalal Sharafi and there were signs of damage to his nose and neck," state television said.

I do not know the details of who was holding the diplomat for the last two months. Or where he was being held. But this does seem to answer the question of why the U.K. sailors were rel-iced when they were. This also seems be just more fuel added to the already very volatile fire in that region.

Red Cross back's the case (!)

The International Red Cross confirmed a vist took place with Mr. Shafafi:

A spokeswoman for the ICRC in Tehran, Katayoun Hosseinnejad, confirmed the visit took place and said it was initiated by the Iranians. Stocker was not immediately available for comment, and Hosseinnejad said she could not comment on whether Sharafi's injuries indicated torture.AP

The BBC is currently reporting this comment by Stocker:

Peter Stoeker [head if the International Red Cross in Teheran] said there were marks on Jalal Sharafi's feet, legs, back and nose but he was unable to say if they were the result of torture.

Hardy a confirmation the US was responsible for torturing Sharafi; sounds more like expected Iranian propaganda at this point.

It's the usual Iranian propaganda. There is no evidence of any torture.
Even if there was 'evidence' I'd be hard pressed to believe it was from the United States. I'm more inclined to believe any marks would be self inflicted or inflicted by the Iranians to FAKE torture.

I don't buy any of it.

"Torture, torture, torture" is what they cry all the time!
Why? Because they know that the stupid bleeding heart liberal socialist morons and the anti-American dolts around the world will readily take the bait - hook, line and sinker. Don't believe me? Just watch this thread evolve and you'll see them - hook in mouth.

This is more BS propaganda from the Iranians - and to be honest, I'm pretty much fed up with it!

Iran probably…the Red Cross (see previous post) has not confirmed anything but a visit. So far there has been only the televised version with one Iranian doctor making these claims. The International Red Cross has stated the Iranian claims have not been independently verifyied as of yet.

Also, Sharafi was held in Iraq by Iraqi intelligence and released by Iraq. The claims the US held Sharafi captive were made by the Shiites (go figure).

The Red Cross is a bunch of scumbags anyway.

If there were literally holes drilled into this guy, that pretty much seals the deal that it was not inflicted by US agents. That just ain't our style.

Right on kozmo! If it were remotely true then.....so what. At least they got him back with his head still attatched. As far as the Red Cross is concerned, they are just another inept wing of the useless UN. Don't believe it, and even if I did, like I said...so what.

After reading 7 responses (all the same) in this thread, i can't say for sure that this board (or some members) are denying ignorance. I won't even start commenting "the other", "the bad", "the anti-American" point of view, because i will be "eaten"...

"Deny Ignorance" ? In this thread, that doesn't seem to count

And your current proof of the above is where?...

I intentionally quoted the BBC in my earlier post (as well as the AP) and no where can I find that the “Red Cross backs the case”. If the Red Cross does provide a link…or even if the claims of this incident have now been verified by an outside neutral independent source, please provide that information as well.

Until then my position stands…simple Iranian propaganda for consumption.

Yes, i said the Red Cross back's the case...
(definition of the word case: case )

... meaning, that the organization saw and documented the wounds. I didn't say that the Red Cross backed the diplomats story

Again

Well,

you all say that this is propaganda - yes it can be. It's hard to find the story on MSNBC, but i have the recent article here:

Iranian envoy wounds "confirmed"

So, i just quote on part of the article, an important one:

An unnamed US intelligence official also denied any claims of abuse, saying: "The CIA does not conduct or condone torture."

Do you agree with that? If yes, you can enjoy the following links, and if you still say YES - you are just as ignorant as Ahmadinedjad.

CIA's Harsh Interrogation Techniques Described (ABC News)

The Long Shadow of CIA Torture Research (Independent)

PRISONER ABUSE: PATTERNS FROM THE PAST (official)

Counterintelligence Interrogation (Maybe not authentic)

CIA Torture Techniques Go Mainstream (Amnesty International)

And so on, try google for "CIA torture", 1,590,000 hits.

Stop being ignorant, it's a shame. Don't deny something you can't prove wrong or false. Deny ignorance!

of what he looked like before they released him. If they do and they didn't torture the guy, that sure would be nice. All in all this guy wasn't exactly one of the kind that we would torture for pertenet information.

Oh boy here we go with evil USA did it stuff. As someone else stated here already the US had nothing to do with this guys capture, detainment interrogation, torture or what ever. this was an IRAQI!!!! job. But it will still be spun into the USA or CIA tortured this guy. By the way it said he had holes drilled in his legs, injuries to his nose and neck...well if you look at the picture of him opon his release I don't see any injuries there.

So it concludes this thread. The red cross has not confirmed this incident. Meaning it is prob pure proproganda. People don't be so gullible, but always question the sources. That's why there's so much bs on this site.

So I guess the faked the footage...

The fact that people in this day and age are still buying into the left right paradigm, wings of the same bird controlling the state, that is truly sad, and we are all anti american morons who disagree with government policy of torture yes...

Hey man wake up, your AG Alberto Gonzalas already put out memos defending torture as a useful tool against terrorists, they mean a useful tool against front line goat herders whos only crime was being arab..

www.washingtonpost.com...

Seriously people, he wrote how its ok to crush childrens testicles and put cigarettes out on their foreheaads, to get answers from the parents of "suspected insurgents" its discusting! And you are gonna tell me you are ok with that!!

So everybody in the whole world but the US puts out propaganda, that is so naive...

America is at the front of the line when it comes to putting out propaganda To bolster support. Remember the WMDs that didnt exist???

This really makes me sick, you people are so ignorant, that you would still believe your government even thoough theyve been caught lying to you over and over and over and over and over again!!

Wake up dammit, Iran is not a threat to you, they dont want to be, in the words of a Nevada Senator "they wanted to use the capture of the british sailors as an excuse to invade, but China wouldnt let them" Remember when the stock market almost crashed a few weeks ago....take a guess why....

Wake up for god sakes, and stop blindly following all the government propaganda when the government doesnt give a damn whether your safe or not.

If they are so worried, why are they leaving the borders wide open and arresting border agents who do their job? Why is Bush cutting funding for import inspection? Less than 1 percent of all imports are expected. Why is Bush cutting funding for schools and hospitals and social security to help fund this war??

Arabs are supposed to be the big enemy, yet there are no checks and balances for muslims, in Britain they are allowed to come in unlimited numbers, if you are so worried about the man with the turban killing you, why do you guys not do any kind of checking, you pretty much leave the door wide open for illegals and drug smugglers to just walk into America.

WHY CUZ THE GOVERNMENT GETS WHAT IT WANTS!!
