Every time I read the newspaper

some crazy freak kills his wife with a crowbar,

or a mother abandons her baby in the dumpster,

or a 12 year old stabs a classmate,

or somebody shoots somebody because of a cartoon,

or somebody mutilates their pet and shows no remorse in court.

why cant the media leave all the bad news till the end?
why does the front page of a newspaper have to be of somebody killing somebody???

Im starting to consider ignoring the news alltogether, but im willing to hear your advice...

Well, unfortunately a few idiots run the world for everybody (including those ones in positions of power, they are the worst ones.)

Well they want ratings, and the best way to get it is through violence, war stories. I don't like it too.

Yeah it does. Would you rather read an article labeled:

"Susie Summers donates $5,000 to St. Christus Hospital!"

or

"Remains of lost children found in Susie Summers' house!"

If you chose the former, I'm sorry. Nowadays, no news is good news.

I've noticed this too and it depresses me, but it's all a matter of public interest and ratings and all that rubbish. :bnghd:

Oh yes it does, for a few reasons.

You should understand the news makes money by flashy, shocking stories.
You should also understand that the 'news' conditions people to be fearful by presenting doom and gloom stories.
Why? Because its easier to manipulate a fearful subject.

My advice, since you know the world is messed up already, and you know the news spreads fear, is simply dont watch it.
You can find out pretty much everything you need to know right here on ATS.

I don't watch the news or read newspapers.

I keep up with a little news on the internet and quite a bit of it comes from ATS. I find out just enough to know if there is some horrendous tragedy like the war or Katrina.

The rest of it I ignore. It's all about gloom and fear. They say, "If it bleeds, it leads." I don't need anything in my life that is based on that type of mentality.

Besides, I know by experience, that not everything in the news is real. There is some fabrication. I don't trust the news.

I think they do it deliberately, like they could give us happy la la stories but what would happen if then?

I mean for every one psycho, there is a 100+ normal people doing nice things - like volunteering etc and we never hear about them.

It is always doom and gloom so people live in fear and makes them depressed. And when it comes time to vote, people who watch the news say : oh I want more money put into law enforcement etc etc.

Media is a great manipulator...

you know, there are amazing stories out there that DONT involve death or killing or doom and gloom.

like britney shaving her head lol or survival stories or rescue missions there are countless stories that could make front page
instead of somebody dieing.

Ohhh, don't watch the news. It only encourages them.

Seriously though, it really isn't worth it. 100 years ago, you wouldn't have known about every perversion, desecration and act of violence, now they're selling points on commercials.

There are other ways to stay up on current events than the daily dose of propaganda and desensitization to suffering.

i think it would be nice to see more front page news with stories about people who are alive.
