U.S. studies credibility of new terror threats

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Homeland security officials Friday told CNN they are trying to determine the credibility of information regarding threats to target the United States, particularly New York City, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.

I for one am getting tired of them. I'm now ignoring them. Every time I see one of those I start waiting for news on a terrorist attack but it never comes. I'm beginning to wonder if Homeland Security officials know what they're doing at all. Maybe it's an exercise to see how we are reacting to these (practice) alerts.

Considering these threats have been all over the internet for the last 2 weeks, it finally hitting the mainstream media really makes me even more worried.
www.homelandsecurityus.com has had information about this for weeks, yet our intelligence is only now catching on. I hope they have been studying its reliability, instead of just finding it. Otherwise I got some serious concerns regarding our intel.

8 December 2003-- Communications found on a elusive jihad web site suggests attacks against New York City, Washington and Las Vegas in the US, and London in the UK. A detailed communications suggesting the spread of weaponized anthrax in New York through disbursement from the air (skyscraper) and the placement of "dirty bombs" in New York and the other cities mentioned were furnished to federal authorities. The federal contact termed the threat "credible" and stated that various other foreign intelligence agencies identified the same or similar communications and reported the same to DHS authorities. No specific information concerning the timing of this event was found.

Dreamz believe me they are very aware of those threats. They don't go public with everything they know. Unfortunatlly it seems they know everything and then some.

Dreamz Whats interesting is that the Northeast Intel Net sends all their findings to the appropriate people. What we see here is the same attutude being shown that allowed 9/11 to happen. The sheer arrogance of our Intel and Law Enforcement officials, when dealing with non governmental provided information, makes one wonder why more attacks don't occur. One of the most blatant signs of arrogance and the "Good-Old-Boy" network in our government is the fact that the very officials who allowed 9/11 to happen are still in the same positions, no disciplinary actions, no removals. How can one take any warning serious when officials refuse to take action or just ignore good Intel provided to them for free? Terror warnings? I make my own assesment based on web sites with a good track record rather than the politically motivated "official" information.

No one allowed it to happen. The U.S. government is not God, it just happened. If you want more intel then let those government officials come in your house and ask what you are doing every 5 minutes.

Let me explain what I mean by let it happen, no follow up on intel leads, disregarding foriegn intel sources, not reacting on illegal aliens, failure of internal cooperation, inter agency competition, lack of human intel. These are all contributing factors to "letting it happen". I am not saying they knew exactly what was going to happen, but if just a few of the above shortcomings hadn't occured they would have been able to put 2 + 2 together and had the means to prevent this infamous attack. The higher you go in federal service the less contact you have to actualities, and the more politics and career oreintation clouds good solid judgement.

ThatOneGuy Whats unfortunate about the whole thing is that Government hasn't changed. They still are more concerned with their careers than with our safety. I worked for the Government for over 32 years, in Uniform and out of Uniform as a civil servent, I quit, I hated being pushed around and being dictated to. I can tell you that any civil servent that makes it above GS12 hasnt got a clue whats going on in the real world!! But he/she can tell you what they have to do to make the next grade!!!

Here is something that more or less supports my view, I picked this up from Northeast Intel.

Former New Jersey governor and the chairperson for the 9/11 Commission Thomas KEAN stated that the 2001 strikes on New York and Washington could have been avoided if FBI, immigration and other government agents had done their jobs properly. Citing communication, intelligence and other failures in a report that is not expected to be published for several months, KEAN stated that individuals were allowed into this country that should not have been permitted inside of our borders and people were allowed onto airplanes with materials that were not permitted"

Geniussage I am not crying wolf here, I am only stateing a fact. I am not saying we will be hit again nor am I saying we won't. What I am saying in order to be better prepared and get "Credible, Accurate and Timely" warnings rather than an increase in alert status every time OBL Farts!! We need a system that functions and can be trusted. You can only repeat the same crap only so many times before no one pays attention.
