As I've written to few other topics, there are way too many coincidences have happened not just today, but in the last week, even weeks. As some of you already mentioned, the weather. In my country, Hungary, where Earthquakes are really rare, we've just got one in 31 Dec, 2006 (It wasn't a big one. A 4.1 or 4.3. But it's happened here, where are no greater Earthquakes, then 3.1 - 3.5.).

Elvis. Hehehe. Yeah. And my birthday will be on the end of the next week. So, Gaia will be excited too, right?

Sorry, I was getting a little off topic myself.

But the fact of the matter is if you look deep enough in the major news sites, you can find these storys. For the Most part.

I looked for literally 3 mins and found the Volcano, the Gas, the Rains, and a Earthquake story.

Not like its not being reported, its just not front page.

I quess the question you guys are asking is... Why are they not front page?

Im not sure of that one.

first of all i remember a thread last year when everyone got hpyed up about the website that shows all the earthquakes around the world, earthquake.usgs.gov...

yes there was a LITTLE more seismic activity today but i am quite familiar with the site and this is well within normal range, the past weak had been pretty quiet, now that doesn't mean something couldn't hit but whatever chart that was looked at to start this thread actuallly is misleading it appears quite erratic on most days

now to the SMOKE and MIRRORs

2 consecutive days of "terrorist b.s in miami" completely unrelated and miniscule. what are the odds , miami hadn't been in the news for months now 2 days back to back, a weird smell in NYC , a bunch of dead birds in texas, a chemical cloud near houston, kinda odd nope that is all b.s to get people to accept or justify somehow this

www.cnn.com...

So whats with all the activity? Is it a major shift in the plates? what does it mean for those of us that live in arias that havent been affected yet?

Well we are in luck.

A member here on ATS studies this stuff at university, and has got some copies of those graphs to take in and look over, because, as he said, its not right by a long shot, and the antartica one is real bad form.

So, when he's got some stuff to say, he is going to post it here in the thread.

Pi/.027027027R = a really funky number, and you check the 32nd and 33rd digit, you'll see they are 13!!!!!

Would like to bring the importance of the numbers [0and9] and the faint relationship to masonry within this post. 9 and 0 are Existential mirrors of each other. Productive output

Until this is proven to be freak coincidences we should perhaps try to take this seriously, it could be the beginning of something really weird, but most probably isn´t.

I guess what Im saying is, dont just laugh it off or/and dont run like headless chickens screaming "the world´s about to end" yet. Theres a bunch of really smart people here at ATS, we should continue to monitor and post relevant info from around the globe and see what we can piece together.

Hmmmm... Maybe an underground Vulcano is preparing to break under NYC. Would be an interesting fact. And in this case that unknown gas would be suphur. Naaaaah. Nope. That gas was something else.

I just talked to a seismic expert from another forum and he said the earthquakes are all minor and completely normal... so there you have it.

dark knight you look at the graph today, but did you look yesterday and the day before and so on? because that may well be what the graph looks like everyday. Yes, there have been lots of weird things happening today, but i don't think the earthquakes have been any different. Of course i'm not expert either so i may be totally wrong.

That's just the sound of the human heart breaking..,
You know, somethings up with the core??!!

No snow here, just warm and mild as though it were spring. Right on a fault line but no quakes.

Buds on the trees.

I don't mean to single you out per se, but this is a prime example of a kind of bad posting technique you may want to try and get out of the habit of.

"I spoke with 5 seismic experts earlier today, and they all said this is a sign Yellowstone is gonna blow."

"I am a seismic expert, and this is proof that the world is about to cave in on itself."

What you could do is post a link to a possible resource and say "This may not be that exceptional of activity; things have been more hectic the past week and we haven't heard anything of any of that stuff."

Or ask your seismic experts if they can give you something to back it up. You said it was a different forum--what gives you any reason to take their word over the members here at ATS, or to expect the members of ATS to take their word?

I don't intend this to sound mean or sarcastic or anything--truly I don't. Posts like this just get under my skin a little.

Can't back up that statement with anything really. Just read it in another thread, and there was no background activity there either, just that statement by someone, don't remember who. Disregard it if you like.

Well sorry for not being clear enough...

I have a friend that works at the Observatory in Tuscon, Arizona. I was talking to her on another forum and she stated to me that their resident seismologist had not notified them of anything out of the ordinary because the seismology side of things see things like today a fair bit.

Hope that clears things up. There is nothing to worry about.

Actually, just did a quick search and will back up that statement.

Earthquakes, last 30 days

Check out that page, and compare the last 30 days of quakes...nothing really out of the ordinary, other than there were 2 larger ones today, it's happened many times before as well.

Here's just the past 4 days.

Today - 6 quakes
Yesterday - 9 quakes
2 days ago - 4 quakes

True, small quakes are quite common.

Today had a few larger than normal quakes - but that too, is not uncommon.

The number of actively erupting volcanoes seemed large though, as did the incidences of gases escaping from vents.

Here's something that coincidentally(?) just appeared:

Mining Caused Major Earthquake
