Has anyone heard of this conspiracy that states during the Great Depression, a cabal of millionaire bankers and industrialists hatched a conspiracy to hijack the U.S. government and install a fascist dictatorship? I've tried to search for more information but was only able to find this:

The White House Putsch

If anyone has any info, please share....
Obviously we are already on this path but to know that it was possibly conspired so long ago gives us an idea of the planning and preperation that goes into instituting such an ideological change. It starts with controlling the money which started with the creation of the Federal Reserve System. (coincidentally created around this time period as well)

I am glad you brought this up,, because i wanted to but forgot. it seems that not many people are familar with this event which really should have been major news.

The question I ask is the conspirators tried to launch this coup because they liked what they saw in Europe with hitler and mussoulini and thought this would be a good idea for America. Fortunately for us they asked a big shot marine general to lead the coup and General butler had his loyalties with the country. So Butler played along until he knew enough then blew the wistle, but something like only one newspaper even reported the even.

the conspirators are pretty much the people who brought FDR in power as their patsy, to bring socialism to America. So why would these same people now want to kill him during his first year in office. I was led to believe that the conspirators were split on their time frames, thier goals were identical (world gov't) but how to go about it were different. One side, the ones who brought him to power wanted slow creeping fabian style socialism while the others (the coup people) wanted the immediate gradification and attack now. It seems that its always been the fabian strategy that has been in place since the beginning.

Also wouldn't FDR be pissed about his buddies trying to kill him that he would consider spilling the beans himself. About everything like the federal reserve the cfr and the powers that brought him where he was at?

Why is it a 'coincidence' that the federal reserve system started around the time of the great depression? It was a reaction agains the depression and an attempt to have stability in the currency.

The plot alleges that Dupont and Morgan wanted to turn the American Legion into stormtroopers to raid the whitehouse. It says, however, that it was a head of hte connecticut American Legion that wanted to do this, not a Dupont or Morgan. It even states that Macguire, the American Legionaire, came up with the plot while visiting fascist states in europe, not at the behest of the Morgans and Duponts. The money invovled seems to come from 'average' memebers of the upper class. Consider, if Dupont and Morgan wanted to co-opt the presidency, they would've. A congressional committtee that didn't even name any names publically wouldn't've stopped them.

It also makes no mention of it being a subtle, long term plot to control anything through the fed or anything like that. They were going to use the American Legion like hitler used the brownshirts, mussolini's black shirts, or even Garibaldi's red shirts. WIth that offering the threat of destabilization and disorder, they'd get the FDR to create a 'super secretary', above the other members of the cabinet, who'd become the leader.

While I disagree with the ultimate link, or even that there was a conspiracy to cover it up, (after all, the plan is ludicrously absurd, and thus, perhaps thought of as not much of a threat, and apparently was never really spelled out as an actual desire to have a coup), it is rather intersesting.

The think tank assembled to bring about the Federal Reserve may have came about as a way to stabalize the economy but to think that there wasn't a pre-determined agenda to control the money supply is ridiculous. That's basically calling them stupid which we obvioulsy know they weren't. I also think they The FRS was brought into existence MORE by pressure from foreign powers and interest's than by Americans. You can see this through viewing the ownership of the banks within the system......almost half are either foreign owned or have ties to foreign business who have ownership interest.

I always thought the "Great Depression" started with the 1929 Stock Crash ? and the US Federal Reserve was privatized in 1913 ?

Can you back up the ascertion that the creation of the federal reserve 'was a reaction against the depression'?
As Mazzroth points out, the dates dont match what you say.
The federal reserve appears to have been established in 1913, followed by the 'great' depression more then a decade later.

This is an interesting subject to say the least.
The Congressional Committe report on the
Business plot confirmed the testimony of then most decorated Marine Smedley Butler.
