children are WAY more perceptive, and are likely to be more in tune with reality than *gasp* adults are
so are animals.
children evolve into adults, this process removes the animalistic features, therefore...an adult human can be distincted as lacking certain features
animals have...possible alien visitations superimposing their DNA onto apes?
just something to munch on while you're at it,
