I would have to second this notion. It seems like the sun is going down way to early

No, the sun is setting at the same times it always does. Right about 5:30 for me is right on schedule. What makes you think that? The earth isnt rotating any differently. Mind must be playing tricks on you guys.

Too me it also feels like that even though I live in the tropics. But I also think my mind is being fooled...

Time in general does seem faster lately, though I think part of it is psychologica. It seems the older you get, the faster time will seem to go.

I agree, i thought you guys were morons for a second, but then my own low reading comprehension rate had to catch up.

odd phenomena, I live in the USA, and it does seem to be setting far sooner than it should

I was thinking this last night as well.

This time last year I was walking home and it was daylight at about 5:00 PM (or maybe not day light but dusk)

This Year leaving work at the same time and it does seem darker.

I know that it cannot be, nothing has changed (that we know off), but yet it is still darker.

I was thinking about it last night, it is almost the quality of the light has changed.

Ok I know that sounds absurd but just the feeling I have

No, the earth's rotation isn't speeding up.

If it was, then you'd notice the creeping window of daylight -- it would be getting light a LOT earlier to match it suddenly getting dark a LOT earlier.

And secondly, go look at the tables of sunrise and sunset (which can be calculated with simple software... you can get programs to do that.) You'll see that the calculations (which couldn't possibly have "predicted" any sudden changes in rotation) match within a few minutes the local observed sunrise and sunset.

There's auroras and other things from the unusual space weather. But sunrise and sunset are right on time.

It's very odd that people have been noticing this since early this year.
You can check your area's calculated sunset & sunrise times with this site. (Run by the US Navy)

aa.usno.navy.mil...

Maybe we can get a research project going to see if there are any major discrepencies.

I haven't noticed anything different. It's always very dim when I'm walking home at 5:20, and the sun has always set at the same time in the winter as long as I can remember.

may be because of the solar activity lately, it has changed the way the light appears which most people take as abnormal.
