America's ambitions to re shuffle the ME will come undone if it does invade Iran. The situation in Iraq is a graphic reminder to believe that such countries cannot stand up to a greater superiority. 3 years on with no sign to the conflict ending and more US troops killed every week. Statements that forces will have to be there for at least another 4 years and then with no gurantee of democracy at the end of it. Plus a massive financial drain on America, a country which is teetering on the edge of the bancrupcy abyss.

Iran on the other hand has watched the events in Iraq and has been building up its forces, a large amount of its capabilities coming from Russia/China who both continue to supply the country. A ground war for the US in Iran will make Iraq seem like a schoolyard scrap, America will need far larger forces to deal with the invasion and will almost certainly have to introduce the draft if it had to sustain a long stay in Iran.

Russia and China may well be using the Iranians to bring about the demise of the US both from a military stand point and a financial one. How is the American Goverment goining to pay for this war, the country is nearly 9 billion dollars in debt, this connot be sustained and a war in Iran would cause further financial burden to the country. Also oil supplies could be disrupted to the point of where it start to hurt, oil prices alone would go through the roof.

The only winners in this conflict would seem to be arms manufacturers and the oilmen, the loosers will be of course all the dead on both sides. Why is Bush and co hell bent on this course of action, do you really think he cares of what happens to the US and its people or will he be off to his ranch in Paraguay.

I do not think they will ever invade Iran because their would be no point. However when we Bomb the hell out of Iran and Syria in a few weeks you will see a dramatic change in Iraq because they are the people causing trouble in Iraq. Isreal will take out Hezbola once and for all by aiding in a civil war against them. Iran is not really that bad their people are educated and do not want a war but they too are under the thumb of the crazy Islamist. Stratigic strikes would shut them up quite quick and then the Islamist would lose favor.

Iran has been a long standing and unified culture for 2500+ years now, stable and despite its government, progressive. A far cry from Iraq which was always, until it was created in the aftermath of WW1, 3 seperate provinces of different and distinct cultures. It was never a country and it was only by the force of a strong man that it was held together. What is happening there now would have happened to one degree of the other on the passing of Saddam...his sons were hated enough that htey would have easily served the same role American forces do now...an excuse and a focus for each group to pull in its own direction.

This will not happen in Iran. The people may hate their government but if they are invaded or attacked, they will rally around their government and it will be a blood bath for any invading force. If we attack Iran, we really will release the whirlwind....but it won't happen. We are stretched so thin that a revolt of the chiefs of staff are far more likely than any attack is...failing we attack and China will be pulled in to protect their oil source and then all hell will break loose. Rumsfeld and the other neo-cons may be arrogant enough to believe that we could pull it off....but not the heads of the military. Bush could lead us into the first ever military coup if he was so stupid to order an attack.

If you think the people of Lebanon are going to begin another civil war to appease Israel after they just bombed the hell out of their country you have another thing coming. After being thrown into a civil war for 20 years for helping israel the first time around, and then beeing left hung out to dry, believe me, they will not get help from the Christians. Especially now while they are continuing their High-speed fly-overs during the cease fire and bombing Christian villages during the summer. Let Israel go to Iran and sacrifice some of their own lives for a change and leave the Lebanese people out of their paranoid delusions.
The only Lebanese Christians that will aid them are the ones who fled to Israel after they murdered all those innocent Palestinians and their fellow countrymen as well as destroyed the majority of Lebanon. I think your scenario is a little too hopeful and very short on probability.

1. Iran already has biological weapons pointed at Israel; and if there’s any point to invading them it might actually be because they’re prepared to die.
2. Iran anticipated an invasion to the point where they effectively have a pre-made resistance. It’s armed with weapons, gold, and trained with fanatical people. It also has specially adapted terrorist weapons like remote controlled aircraft with bombs on them.
3. Many of Iran’s missiles are much better than anything Iraq had. They also have thousands shorter range ones, and literally tens of thousands of rockets. Any of these could easily be used to disrupt nearly all Middle Eastern oil exports for months. The Suez Canal is an obvious target which could easily be, and quickly mined by air or ground.
4. This will almost certainly cause the entire world to experience a Wall Street Crash of terrifying proportions. This will therefore weaken both us and our resolve.
5. At the end of it the government of Iran will be officially down, but half of it will probably be on the run along with literally thousands of other terrorists all jumping up and down taking surprise pop shots at our boys. Iran and Iraq will be truly united in more ways than one (even half a dozen).

In a war with Iran we better hope they have a few nuclear weapons. This will cause them to attempt to nuke us, allowing us to use our own nuclear bombs. This will enable the whole war to finish a lot quicker and cleaner.

We would lose even if we succeeded in overthrowing its government and occupying its land because of simple logistics...Iran is far larger than Iraq, far more populated and therefore would require far more troops to hold it, and simply put we don't have them. Even if we totally pulled out of every country we have bases in and put them in Iran, we couldn't do it. We can't even hold Baghdad, muchless the whole country of Iraq...Iran would be ten times worse without a civil war to distract them...they would all be focused on us. AND to make matters worse, if we attack or provoke Iran, no nation is going to stand with us...in this we would be totally alone.

Won't happen. This Mid East thing will come to an end. A failed experiment that made money for the Military Ind. Complex. Time to move on. Let's see, did Asia in the 60'-70's. Central/South America in the 80's. Destabalized Eastern Europe in the 90's. Hmm, what's left after this debacle? I'd be worried if I lived in either Africa or Australia.

Well if the oracle bones and the fire cracked tortoise shells, the runes and entrails of the sacrifice victims; the I Ching and the Tarot Cards and all the talking heads on TV are correct the Republicans are going to fall hard this election cycle, and the Democrats, if they have any brains (much less backbone, which is even more debatable than brains) will put a straitjacket on this psychotic administration and dampen the fires of the Molach inspired neo-cons enough to rein in all this warmongering.
