Hi everyone, sorry to crash your post.
I'd just like to say that I think all your poems were fantastic!. It inspired me to write a poem myself about how I was feeling the other day. Been on seriously strong anti-depressants for a while now. Usually I'm ok, but sometimes the dark thoughts come out. It's nowhere as near as good as any of yours, but I think it's a good way to express the feelings.
here goes....

I look in the mirror and what do I see?
A haunted young man staring back at me
Eyes that were bright are now dull and sad
What happened to make the whole world seem so bad?

Where was the young man with the world at his feet?
Once carefree, outgoing; now shy and discreet
The zest, the spirit, the spark have all left
Feelings of joy, hope and happiness I now am bereft

I once had a spirit, it’s something I miss
Couldn’t hold it as it fell into the abyss
Of despair, of love lost and ambitions long gone
I only see darkness where light had once shone

Winter is coming; it’s when most life dies
Sounds strangely attractive, now there’s a surprise
Would it make any difference if I were dead?
Just take a few pills and lie in my bed

Not to wake, nor once more, see the first light of dawn
Would anyone care if I was gone?
Of course there’ll be tears and a short time of grief
The people I love will have the belief

That we’ll meet once again in the Kingdom of God
Belief I don’t have, I think it’s a fraud
When I die it’s all over, no feeling, no presence
No Heaven, no Hell, no corporeal essence

I look in the mirror and what do I see?
The eyes of a man, soon no longer to be

regards
FLC

Here is my low-quality poem. Please enjoy responsibly.

Knight Errant: A Quasi-Epic Poem

He dreams of a place with a bloody sky,
With splintered moon and sun up high,
Where men fight and die to no avail,
Immortal souls freed by dying wail.

Over the hill he would rise,
Above the field but ‘neath fiery skies,
This is his place, a warrior’s dream,
A place where blood fills the streams.

Descended he into the fray,
For, he thought, there’s no other way!
The man whose sword I wield
Said “Come back in glory or on your own shield.”

Down he came like a wolf in the fold,
As an avenging angel from tales untold,
The foe looked up only to see
A lone horseman, as if cavalry.

His sword he drew, blade a’ flashing,
His shield was ready, his horse a’ dashing,
Prepared was he to enter his world,
A place where the melee mix’d and swirled.

Blades sung, hammers pealed,
Axe swung, men revealed,
Banners were lifted, trumpets were blown,
This is the place where men were grown.

Swords flashed, spears readied,
But our young hero was as true as steady.
Blood flew, men died,
Grievances made, loyalties tried.

The steed was stopped, by man and by blade,
And our hero cried out in vain.
His horse slain, he fought on foot,
His life, his fate in his hands were put.

Bravely he fought, with dagger and sword,
But his shield was broke, his armor worn.
Inch for inch, blood was shed,
Not only his enemy’s, his own he bled.

Weary did our hero grow,
But fear did his valor sow,
Soon his enemies fled the field,
Before this brave young man had kneeled.

But kneel he did, as the foe did flee,
For dying he was, and know it did he.
The angels flew, clad in green and in white,
Down did they come from the fiery heights.

His sword was shattered, his steed was slain,
His mail was broken, he in pain.
As he lay in the mud on field,
He cried out the last thing he knew to be real:

“I’m coming to you in glory, Father!”

Wow...

...totally blown away by the amazing words, the energy and emotional expression delivered through the formed lines...great stuff Sapphire, WebDevil, funlovincriminal, DeusEx and Revebo...

Definitely Applauds all round.

And I agree...we need a Poetry Section, separate from the Fiction Forum...as for some the poems are not fiction at all, just their way of recounting the truth, their history. Perhaps if this thread explodes over time it will add wieght to a need for a Poetry Section *hint hint back at ya *

...back to it then...

Language

Love forever and forever shall be,
Live in the love 'tween you and me.
Need your love and seek your touch,
Need your lips to please so much.
Need your shoulder upon which to cry,
Need our dreams combined to fly.

Love you need you, you I adore,
Want you forever like map to explore.
Secrets within are yours only to know,
Hidden places only to you show.
The voice noone hears only heard by you,
Voice of my heart speaks clear and true.

Listen closely for it speaks again,
Of times soon, times far, times to the end.
Language unknown to anyone but us,
Language of ancients...language of love.
Translation is simple, requires only your heart,
Its words weave such wonder once whispering starts...

Injector

Kind words are just that,
They mean nothing more.
'less ya think that they do,
Then they'll fall to the floor.

Sometimes I wonder if it is better,
To be a cold hearted love-rejector,
Instead of an inspiration injector,
Inspiration, misinterpretation, whatever.

Never had problems with a heart like a stone,
Used to be nasty and they would leave me alone,
But now that I'm different and some warmth I have shown,
Seems everything I say gets all twisted and overblown.

Walking

Blending,
Extending one day into another.
Converging,
Emerging from what once was eachother.
Rolling,
Unfolding glacier-flow slow,
Remaining,
Explaining what one doesn't know.

Mindnumbing,
Succumbing to temporal whim.
Needing,
Bleeding a trail for the Grim.
Lying,
Denying I feel anything.
Breathing,
Relieving the pain of loves sting.

Living,
Giving into the wishes of Fate.
Raging,
Staging a time for the hate.
Releasing,
Ceasing to be bound anymore,
Walking,
Chalking it up to lives before.

Peace,
ALIEN
