Truth, Justice, and all that stuff?

This is a quote from the new Superman movie.

Typical Hollywood liberal commie BS.

I will not support their anti-American agenda.

Being a die-hard Republican as opposed to what?

A whiny, anti-American, cut and run, weak Democrat?

So you admit it, Truth, Justice, Freedom, these are all Anti-Republican but Pro-Democrat?

Wow, I never thought a Republican would admit he hates Justice, Freedom, and the Truth!

He hasn't turned anything around. Its exactly what you said ... truth and justice is anti-american BS.

You havn't given any reason for your opinion that Hollywood is anti-american. You havn't explained why you think the new Superman film is "commie BS".

This thread could be quite good if the OP actually had a comprehensable opinion.

Excuse me, for assuming people know the famous saying from the original Superman.

"Fighting for truth, justice and the American way!"

Hollywood, who doesn't like America, decided to change it to, "truth, justice, and all that stuff."

Damn, it's so hard to deny ignorance, when it is all around you.

It's true that the original Superman TV show had the Man of Steel waging a never-ending struggle for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

It is not true that recognizing this for the silly jingoistic nonsense that it is, and modernising it somewhat to acknowledge that truth and justice are not exclusively American concerns, implies that one is anti-American.

On the flip side, I do think they could have done a better job than "all that stuff." The Superman comic book for a while referred to the "Terran way," although IMO that was pretty lame, too.

Now see, people like this are what turns other countries against American. People who are so closed-minded and ignorant that they can't even see it. In case you didn't notice, IT'S A MOVIE! For God's sake people, not everyone and everything who doesn't agree with you 100% on everything is an idiot or a commie! True patriotism is standing up for your country by questioning it. A true patriot questions his government and his leaders because he wants his homeland to move in the best possible direction. Being a sheep and blindly going wherever whoever is in charge at the time says is ridiculous and ignorant. Open up your mind and try to accept that there are people other than you living in the world, and thinking different doesn't make them evil or anti-American.

While we're here, Carseller, I want to mention a pet peeve. Would you mind awfully being a little more precise in your use of the term "Communist"? The word means, roughly, a follower of one or another version of Marxist theory and a believer in dialectical materialism, in historical inevitability, and in a socialist economy leading to a communistic utopia.

It is not synonymous with "not liking America." (And that's setting aside your frequent confusion of "not liking America" with "not liking George W. Bush.")

Osama bin Ladin is on record as not liking America very much. But he is not a Communist. Comprende?

Hm. Well, I'm sure that the company behind the film will really be reeling from the couple of dollars they will lose by your refusal to see it. Meanwhile, millions of other Americans, undeterred by a single line in the movie, will go to it and have a great time.

Sounds like your the one twisting things around to me.

You are isolating that quote from the rest of the scene. The person who was saying that was giving hastily and short-drawn directions on what to cover for each section of the newspaper; just ideas, not insulting or down playing or whatever you seem to think he's doing. If anything, it was a pun against news reporters and how many people seem to think they lack a heart and don't care about anything they report, they just do it for work. None of this anti-american BS you are speaking of.

That is the most absured thing I have ever read. If you genuinely believe that you suffer from paranoia.
How could any person capable of logical thought process reach that conclusion ?
It was probably just a marketing decision they wanted to sell the movie outside of America. GET OVER IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Warner Brothers and DC comics are communists?? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. Maybe you'll listen to Rick Flair

Hey Rick, can you define a communist?

Rick:Sure, it's an advocate for the theory or practice of communism. With Communism being a system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people....Wooooooo

Carseller,

Even I"M surprised you came out with this one.

Truth, Justice and the American way? Is that what offends you? Am i missing something here?

What's wrong with that?

I'm not sure, it does seem strange, doesn't it?

I like it though, that a die hard republican has come out against Truth and Justice, something guys like Spiderman have been fighting for since the 1960's!

Hey Carseller, taking a favorite saying from die-hard republicans, "If you don't like it then move to Canada!"

Wait, they have Truth and Justice there, move to Saudi Arabia, or Cuba, either one should have a lack of Truth and Justice.

Carseller is pretty clearly complaining that hollywood has removed 'And the american way" from the superman tag line. I think its a silly complaint, but still, he's obviously not complaining about truth and justice.

What hollywood has done is say that 'the american way' is silly and old fashioned and not really appropriate to say in the same breath as 'truth and justice'. You can't have superman running around and saying 'fighting for truth, justice, and the american way' without a taint of irony or jingoism these days.
