I found a camera the other day. It had a bunch of pictures on the memory card, but this one jumped out at me:

It resembles a blimp.

It's been through an Apple.
The exif headers may've been erased.
The "object" is the only thing in the shot which is not in focus.
It was shot in daylight, probably late afternoon rather than early morning. I don't like to suggest that the curves were manipulated to reduce contrast and make the image darker, but that's what it looks like.
Once the density curve is corrected you can see the the object is lit wrong.

The curves as adjusted, so you can duplicate my results if you want:

You mean to tell us you just happened upon a camera ( Lost I presume? ) and kept it for yourself and it just happened to have a digitally altered "Flying Saucer" on the memory?

This "jumped out at you" and you rushed to join ATS and get to the bottom of the mystery? ( Instead of finding the camera owner? )

Why am I finding this suspicious?

Seems like there is a Hoax or Two a Day around here.

I guess he used the "found a lost camera" bit to avoid being banned?

BANNED... Sheesh, at least have the common courtesy to do a GOOD JOB when you decide to attempt a hoax on the MOST INTELLIGENT Membership on the Internet!

Alas, poor zipcode he knew not what he ventured into...

Honor System

This is why you should always return lost cameras to their rightful owners.

You never know when you might find a camera belonging to a hoaxer, post a picture from it on ATS and be summarily banned.

It would probably be better to return it, maybe collect a small reward and let the owner of the camera get banned instead.

So sad, why in the last month if that, have we have a barrage of stupid hoax's.
Its as if a group of bitter teenagers decided to test ATS, and failed miserably.

How about we start a thread for pics that are a deliberate hoax. People can use their photoshop skills and we will see who is the most convincing.
