I bet it can, and does, come in here once a day and download everything in a nanosecond, using a spook IP. It is a great one stop shop for everyone, including the government. What does it have to lose, other than to find out how much is out there and who has the goods?

I think people underestimate the power of the governments in its abilities and obsession to hack into systems; corporate and personal. If NSA/MI6 wants to see my hard drive, they can.

In addition, there very well could by NSA and MI6 agents operating here as disinfo OPS.

This isn't to say this site should be avoided. This is a surfer's paradise....a researcher's library. A beautiful site with a lot of smart people.

Err when the FBI DID come and download everything it sure wasn't done in a nanosecond and it certianly was noticable, we had over 13000 hits at once.

... but then only us old timers remember those great days....

If you understand the technology, then you would know this can't happen. Ever go to a site and download something fast and go to another and it's real s-l-o-w? It's because of the sites provider and how much bandwidth they have.

So it doesn't matter if you have "insta-connection" if the place you're going to have 56K...you'll be waiting.

Actually, I think fear of the unknown makes people over-estimate. My wife was military, my friends were military, and I have friends and family in the government (including three-letter agencies) and one thing that is common. You think it's tight as a drum and then hear stories and wonder "how does that even function?"

Just my 2 cents.

I still argue that the three-character-agencies have the technology and the know how to get all info from the internet, PCs and systems.

Of couse, there is no way to know, at this time, how they are doing the mining.

If you have nothing to hide and did nothing illegal then why worry?
I spent a bit of time under the bright light of the alphabet soup and got the 30 lashes with a wet noodle and guess what? It's all over now and I haven't a care in the world.
Except the rent.

Havnt you heard of Echelon? Google it. You are obviously way in the dark with modern technology.

Of course I have! Until the communication is flagged as being suspect and then reviewed by a human to see if its worth pursuing its just a line in a report. I can not imagine how many people it would take to check out every communication that tripped a flag. Even then they would have to be selective to have any hope of finding one legitimate threat. There is simply not enough trained human resources to even put a dent in checking every one of them out. Unless they are total fools they would concentrate on hits pertaining to already suspect individuals or locations. All this software can do is identify the use of flagged words or phrases. To determine if it is indeed something worth pursuing can only be decided by a person. To think that they are watching everyone on earth who expresses their oppinions and beliefs on boards like this is just plain silly logic.

Word has it, internet dissent is threatened by new laws and ideas.

As far as the "why worry if you've done nothing wrong" philosophy, that line is usually used by the lawmakers when they want to take more freedoms....or used by the sheeple they have indoctrinated.

I have no kiddie porn or snuff films BTW, but the NEOCON would like you to believe I do, because of my disapproval of the situation at hand.

Well since I'm neither a lawmaker nor a sheeple how would you explain my post?
Btw they ran me to ground back in the day when certain types of malfeasance were not so readily available to the common folk. To this day there are certain types of behavior I engage in that are illegal in 3/4 of the United States but I'm not gonna run and hide like a wet poodle would.
I just think the PTB has bigger and badder things to worry about than what I do in the (ahem)privacy of my own abode.
And if they ever get their panties in a small enough wad to worry about me then that would be a real crime.

This site is seething with dissent. The government will gather all it can.

"Know thy enemy," is its reason.

You've obviously never visited the alien and UFO forum.
If the ABCs ever saw that they would laugh at how gullible people were and immediately recruit the next wave of sheeple.
They'd be lining up for the automatons like lambs to the slaughter(forgive me, couldn't help myself).
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Not only should you know your enemy but you should keep them as close as possible.

This has to be the funniest thread about a topic I have read in over a year! Way too good to delete!... (however, I am not recommending it be at the expense of the orginal poster.. of course!)...

Freedom to say whatever you want! Or "FEEL" whatever you want... Keep on typing...

Peace to all!

Personally, I think we overestimate the power of the government to do much of anything in an efficient and timely manner. I don't think they have made air travel safer, for example.

I don't see how any of you can go around saying things about the governmental conspiracies and then come out and say "but oh, they don't read this site ever". If the government has the assets to carry out even 1/100th of the conspiracy stuff on here, they can easily have a few people spew misinformation, check up on close-to-real-life conspiracy issues, etc. I don't see why it's hard to understand. Hell I can be working for the gov't ... and no one on here would know (other than they see my IPs are generally from a university's lab block).

Deny Ignorance - you'd be ignorant if you thought gov't officials don't keep tabs on this site and yet "legally" wiretap thousands of phones, for example.

As far as the amigos, it's not hard to believe that they COULD be governmental ... but again, who cares? They do not unjustly censor any material (in fact of all the boards I post on on various topics, they appear to be some of the best admins on the net). They carry themselves in the same manner that heads of my favorite guitar gear forum and favorite band forums do. Unless the US gov't has an interest in the Gibson vs. Fender debate, I think we're ok here.

Well.. I just thought of the SSS for a while. You know Skeptic Overlord, Simon Gray, Springer . I mean *Simon Gray* specifically is a part of the..NSA. Am I correct? Somebody said that on this forum somewhere...well please correct me If I am wrong...National Security Angency. Well, this is what I know about it...

National Security Agency was created by President Truman. To MONITOR and CONTAIN the secret of the alien presence, decipher alien communications and eventually establish an on-going dilolouge with any alien species it could make contact with. Presidential Executive Order exempts the NSA from all laws...except those laws that specifically mention the NSA.

However since its creation in 1952, its charter has expanded a lot. It now has to deal with all manner of communications monitoring, dechipering, and control in every country on earth, including ladies and gentleman...the united states. This means that every telephone call is monitored, every conversation is recognized electronically, and scanned for certain words, such as "bomb" and "kill".

In addition to illegal telephone taps, the NSA also monitors all electronic communications via telegraph, FAX, radio.......and....the internet. Every website acessed, every email sent, and all information transfered is monitored and controlled by the NSA.

Since the passage of the USA POTRIOT Act, the government is now “legally” able to keep track of all credit card records, bank transactions, car rental receipts, gun purchases, passport applications, magazine subscriptions, medical prescriptions, academic grades, trips everyone books, events that are attended, driver’s licenses, bridge toll records, judicial and divorce records, telephone records, internet traffic, and complaints by nosy neighbors. If the USA PATRIOT Act II is passed, anti-war activists could be jailed without due process, searches can be made without a warrant, and private property can be seized.

Alright...so that's about the National Security Agency...

Now onto what I was talking about before with the Three Amigos..this could plainly be...as you can see.. a pure coincidence. But if you see that there names SSS. S is 6 in egyptian... So all in all that makes 666. Hmm.. *puts armor on* Like I said, don't tackle me or I will be a soldier and fight back. I never said that I believe in that...I am just posting it for you guys to see....

*salutes* my work is done here...
Go ahead, hit me, scratch me, burn me, it's just the internet..no harm in that.

I may be 17..but I am not dumb...I am very well aware of what's happening here in this world...

Ok Val hmmmmm all this coming from a moderator, after the fact that Whitelightwolf apologized was Extremely Rude and Unprofessional of You, especially since you stated your also married! I take it your a grown intelligent women, well Whitelitewolf is 17!!! Do you Val, remember yourself once at 17? Hmmmmm I thought so!
Maybe White just by stating what she did, did however bring out some True Colors of ATS, I dare to think not, What are people to think now, Am I now the only one to see your Absurd Conduct Towards Her?

I'm appalled at your demeanor telling her to get the hell out - Your sapose to be a professional moderator and wife of a Amigo as you stated! What your marriage had anything to do with her post is really beyond me, unless of course you Specified that Only to gain respect from some of us in here, which after that rude remark you made, to a TEEN nevertheless, will However Do just the Opposite for you now! Your sapose to be an Example to Others, oh excuse me WhiteLiteWolf was The Example to others, She Apologized like I said, You Val was the Lesser, You over road & paid no attention to her apology, I'm disgusted to have seen this attitude!

I thought ATS was about speaking what we feel on here with of course with respect! She didn't scream, curse, or wasn't at all rude on how she handled herself this time! You however was extremley rude and once again very unprofessional! I think you need to relearn your ediquette on how to treat your members! It will make your Name & your announcement of marriage to all in the Hopes you wished to gain Respect-you will go a lot farther if you take time to apologize like White Did, oh but who am I, a new comer as well right...But I will tell you this, I learn quickly! Thank You but I will pass on the Lesson you have shown to us! As for your Applaus, I'm not Clapping!
Angel

Now For White, at least you pointed out some things you were questioning, you just didn't say openly & blindly about your thoughts, I'm proud of you White, You've learned not to shout & scream your way through, as you once did! You have grown, not like some I see! America The Land of The Free!!! Angel

How many threads like this are you going to start?

I'm sorry, but you're starting to get on my nerves. Not just because I'm a member of almost three years and have come to know many of the other members here on ATS and know that the only thing "going on" is a group of people who found each other and want to work toward finding the truth behind certain subjects, but because I'm married to one of the 3 Amigos and happen to know he hasn't got a farking connection to anything remotely governmental. Further to that, since I've gotten to know one of the other 2 Amigos fairly well, I can say that you're way off base for 2/3rds of the Amigo package.

Did you come here to cause this drama and trouble? It sure is starting to seem that way.

If you don't like it here, trust us here, or think you can fit here without hours of paranoid ainxt...why the hell don't you just leave?

Whitelitewolf, I am amazed like the rest at the size of this thread and couldn't resist.

After reading thru your previous threads it's hard to believe you are 17 as stated. For someone so young you seem to have experienced more than most of us
or perhaps just wishful thinking on your part.

Almost everything you state thru your threads is based on your personal experiences. My, you certainly do seem to live an exciting and interchangeable lifstyle thru ATS. You say you were a wiccan in one of your threads for 6 years, that would make you about 11 at the time, right?

No offence kid, but my daughter is 17 and if she came out with some of the speal you do , I would seriously consider having her head examined.

I can't think of one person I've met whom I considered brilliant (and I've met a few) as not seeming to be a little crazy. It comes with the territory.

I'd take that as a compliment, wlw.
