Maybe it is a multi-level marketing scam.

anyways he got a lot of posts for non-sense.

seeing that a lot around here lately,

then interesting threads are completely ignored?

very strange.

Hi everyone.

I and my co-workers tend to browse this site very often. I don't think there has been a week were something from here has not been a topic of conversation.

I hope to be able to inform you people of something very important very soon. This is amazing news from an astronomical perspective that we've just begun tracking. So for you amateur astronomers on the site, a very interesting surprise is in the works. I hope to announce this information to our favorite website (here) some hours before the official public release.

And yes... it's good to finally be a member.

It wouldn't be planet x now would it?

It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's....

Hehe, could be cool if it was a meteor shower, though!
I live above the arctic circle, it's almost dark around the clock now! Last time there was a meteor shower, it was amazing! It was watching a movie or smt; surreal!

Welcome HereItComes, keep 'em coming!

Welcome aboard!

I truly hope (for your sake) that you have some truly extraordinary information for us. We have had many in the past make claims such as this in an introduction that turned out to be a simple troll.
I'm not accusing you just don't want to see you run off the site on a rail.
Enjoy your stay and I look forward to reading your info!

edit:
Hmm, after re-reading I'll make my guess.

It's a new Comet. (newly observed anyway)

[Edited on 8-10-2003 by Fry2]

It's probably a star that has exploded or something. Welcome to the site, me hopes you like it a lot. I do!

I'm noticing an extreme lack of press release or/of major event.
Would you care to explain the setback?

Okay... I can say a little more as the official release is being prepared for tomorrow.

An unexpected "near-earth" fly-by of a medium-sized newly observed "object" will occur at the end of this month. Official dates/times and observation details will be provided on our site (link coming shortly). There's no danger to us other than sore necks from what is shaping up to be an amazing light show like nothing ever seen before.

More data coming soon. We're still finalizing our calculations.

When was this news release to be made?

Also, if this is true, could you give us a bit of information about your background and credentials, so we could validate your status?

I notice that no such NEO is listed on the NASA website for the immediate time frame... and I do know that NASA is very good at keeping it up to date...

Are you affiliated with NASA? Has your data been authenticated by NASA? If not, what organization are you affiliated with?

I'm sorry for the delay everyone. It's very much my fault for not keeping everyone up to date. I came here with splash and fanfair and then went silent.

The short story, the object being tracked is not what we thought. Data is still being collected and I'll post when I can find out.

Sorry for the false alarms.
