Palestine needs to Back down with Hamas

The current situation that is brewing between Palestine and Israel will be a a dead end road if Palestine doesnt back down on its persistance of electing a Hamas official.

I have been a supporter of the recent pullouts, but feel that the issue with Hamas, and the imposing threat to Israel, is uneeded. Palestine needs to respect that Israel did not have to provide a pullout.

The insertion of a milatant regime into power seems childish to me. Its as though Palestine cannot understand their position. This was not a victory over Israel, it was a consolation for peace. Palestine is taking that olive branch and turning it into a position of leverage, which they will never win.

With Israel threatening to break off all talks, the only people that stand to lose are the Palestinians.

If they persist with the Hamas, election of officials, then by all means. Build the wall. Tighten the border. Israel has done what I think was a noble move. Its time Hamas bury their rifles, and catch up to the civilized world.

There is a problem with your post.

Israel has not withdrawn from all of Palestine, only from the Gaza Strip.

There are still more than three million people yet to be liberated.

And the wall is not being built around Israel, it is being built around the Palestinians.

Rather than making peace Israel is making a huge land grab.

If you really understood the story, and understood that Hamas has offered a ceasefire for years and all they ask is that Israel withdraw from the land they took when they invaded in a sneak attack back in 1967, you might be sypathetic to the real victims; the Palestinians.

All they want is what is theirs, and they will end hostile actions.

They refuse to recognize Israel, but what is that other than words?

They are offering everything else Israel claims to want, but of course Israel wants more than they claim.

I understand what you are saying, but on the other hand disagree with it completely.

The Palestinian people have elected their own government, by means of a democratic election, so how can you say that Hamas should back down, the people of their own country elected them!

George Bush, who is much more erratic and dangerous than Hamas, he was elected in as American President, but because of what America is, he isnt expected to step down.

What the western world has tryed to force on everybody, democracy, has just blown up right in their face, and its about time to.

Here's a quick summary of some of the major events leading up to the Six-Day War

As has been explained to you and many others over, and over, anbd over, and over again it was a Sneak Attack.

You may not like the term but the fact is Israel launched a sneak attack when they bombed the Arab airforces as they sat on the ground.

There were reasons for the Sneak Attack, but there always are.

They did not stand up and say 'hey guys we're attacking now'.

Now quit trying to hijack the thread with your denialisms.

Sneak attack, and Pre-Emptive are not mutually exclusive.

You try to make it sound like it must be one or the other when it can be both.

Pre-Emptive is negated by the continued occupation after the sneak attack.

Since it was obviously an act of aggression the plea of being defender is false.

Israel was the aggressor then, and still is today.

Offer a solution for liberating the Palestinians instead of justifying their oppression with two generation old supposition.

Do that just once.

But you can't because what you want is ethnic cleansing.

According to the laetest GALLUP Poll Americans symphathy for the Palestinian Authority dropped following the election of the Terrorgroup Hamas as the Palestinian Authority's ruling party.

Most Americans do not believe the U.S. should give any financial assistance to the PA.

Hamas is recognized as a militant group to begin with..Israel has stated that they do not wish to negotiate with them, and to be honest, I can see why.

It was elected by the people indeed, but at the same time, do you think Palestine wished to fuel the fire? Is this about reclaiming land, or putting pressure on Israel.?

I dont wish for Israel or Palestine to be backed into a corner. But at that same time, Palestine has to see that either the agenda of Hamas needs to change, or elect a less hostile representation.
