Well these F-14s are so old I do not think that this incident is that bad.

Even the basic F-14 A is still effective, you know?

And also.. think about USSR getting to its hands all the advanced electronics of the Tomcat..
mainly the radar and military computers..

Yes but these F-14s are from the 1970s. They probably have better radars and electronics by now. Also, I bet that the Russians already have the specs on the jet already.

Thats an astonishing find ..... really..... being they are going to be replaced....and the ones they have are like seriously of "old vintage."

Btw....I like it when the Russian's sell their stuff to us anyhow....
US has quite an extensive inventory of Russian aircraft...Su-27's, etc., etc., etc.
They can have those F-14's.....

This was a bad thing during 80/90s.

It is the mightmare scenario if the enemy has your frontline combat aircraft that is in totally 'working order'.

A aircraft which 'you' still use.

Or do you think that the Soviets were happy about USAF flying MiG-15/17/21/23 or now MiG-29 in the Groom Lake?

I think that they were very mad.

(there has been also at least Su-22s, Mi-8/24s also.. AN-12s.. etc flown by USAF.. some of these were captured in covert Delta Force strikes in places like Libya, from where the first 'USAF' Mi-24 came.. i belive that 3rd thieft attemp was succesfull.. but i dont know what went wrong with first 2..)

Interesting find. I dont think it is too much of a problem now but it may develop into a problem in the future. No need to worry.

The United States have quite a large collection of jets and tanks from Russia.

You need to stop "rolling your eyes" John....really....
The US has a number, though speculated at one to three, ex-Iraqi Su-27's.

Nuff said and that I care to divulge.

Iraq has not ever had Iraqi Su-27's.

What US troops captured there was Su-25s, MiG-21/23/25s..



Iraq really didnt have Su-27s.

I have known them for many years (about 10) and this list here has a an error:

No MiG-27s in Iraq, only MiG-23BNs (MiG-27 look alike, but not a MiG-27. As only India has those outside former USSR.)

FULCRUM you got to remember. Anything is for sale, for the right price.

And my books and magazines arent of any help as i dont have scanner..
